1 Tire Blowout problem of the 2013 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/10/2017

We purchased new tires for the front of our 2013 Chrysler Town & Country on 9/29/17 from tires plus in stillwater, mn. On 10/10/17, just 11 days later, while driving 55 mph on a smooth, clear highway, the front right tire blew up, causing a horrific crash. There was a loud explosion, the car veered out of control, my husband fought the wheel as it skidded along the gravel verge. We were on 2 wheels, about to flip, when we hit a paved driveway, which swung the van around full force down a ditch into a pine grove. Airbags deployed, we sustained minor injuries (although it turns out they aren't so minor after all) thanks to safety construction in the car and our seat belts. The van was totaled. Witnesses, the sheriff, the wrecker drivers (it took 2), and (later) our mechanic agreed that the front right tire had separated from the rim suddenly, (hence the explosion sound) and was clearly the cause of the accident. We were 200 miles from home and needed a hotel, hospital visits, and a new car. Residual injuries are minor but impair our daily lives: wrenched shoulders, persistent bruising, ptsd, and the time and cost of borrowing money to get a replacement car. Attorneys aren't interested in the case because our injuries aren't profitable enough for them, but this is a situation where the product failed, and our lives threatened. If we hadn't hit that driveway, or seat belts and structural protections, we'd have rolled and died. The tire was clearly the cause. The tire was a firestone destination le2 p-metric bl 225/65r17 102 brand new (about 300 miles on the tire) dot# w22yde40617.

2 Tire Blowout problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/25/2016

Firestone tires p225/65r17, 4 tires on a 2008 Chrysler town and country subn gy 2a8hr64x48r648633 gj612383 --I have had to tires blow out in 2 months. The tires were fairly new - threads looked good. One blow out was at a low speed, but it was explosive, and the other was in the diamond lane of the lie at about 55 mph. First time the tire was replaced. The second time that tire and remaining two other firestone tires were replaced. In the vehicle were my husband, (driver) myself (passenger seat) my son 13 y/o and my mother 87 y/o in back seat. Other than a shock at the sound and vibration and then the fear of crossing over to the shoulder from the lie hov lane (across three lanes of traffic). It appears we are all fine. As this was the 2nd time this occurred in 2 months time, a blow out of this tire size and make, and we were extremely lucky not to be injured or injure anyone else as the rubber blew off the tire I - similar to a retreaded truck tire - I am compelled to report it.

Futura 2000 lte p215/65tr16 rm6v xac 3712 I have a receipt dated 6-18-2016 for 2 tires installed on the rear of my 2006 town and country van. Both tires have recently failed, tread separation. The tire in may was a blow out at 70mph on interstate 10, the next tire was not a blowout. In all my life I have never had a tire blow out and never had two of the same tires fail so close to each other. Mileage on my van at installation was 102130 and mileage at failure was 144258 and the next tire at 145258. I would like to be contacted by your quality assurance office and I also want more than the pathetic 25 dollar and 10 dollar off on replacement of these tires. 6 Tire Blowout problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 04/06/2010

My family and I experience a near fatal accident when a douglas/goodyear xtra trac tire literally exploded off of the rim of our car. The result was there was nothing left of the tire except for a very small piece of rubber on either side of the rim. (ihave pictures of the blown tire). I returned to walmart where I purchased this tire. At first the store looked at what was left of the tire and said they couldn't do anything. Then when I informed them that I purchased this tire from them at that store, a salesperson chuckled and remarked was it an xtra trac tire I said yes. Another mechanic looked at it and said they would sell me another xtra trac tire. I declined the offer and took by business elsewhere. This was the third tire (douglas/goodyear tire) that blew. In each previous instance the tire shredded. In this instance the tire exploded. In each instance the tire had not reached the warranted mileage that the tire was suppose to be good for. What is disturbing is that walmart is still selling this defective tire to the general public with this known defect.
