| Investigations Summary: | Odi received a complaint from a municipal police fleet reporting failures of front brake jounce hoses in two model year (my) 2015 Ford explorer police interceptor vehicles (voq 10705832). The failures have occurred at low mileages while performing driver training on a closed course which included evasive accident avoidance and pursuit steering maneuvers. The hose assemblies each failed at the caliper end attachment point where the hose is crimped to the end fitting. The failures resulted in a sudden loss of braking performance. A preliminary evaluation has been opened to assess the scope, frequency and safety-related consequences of the alleged defect in the subject vehicles. |
