5 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2017

Air bag light coming on and off intermittently. After looking online my car also has the same air bag light problem that have been listed numerous time (but for some odd reason my VIN isn't one of the recalled cars) online. While driving the car the air bag light will come on and go off continuously. Reading around I have found that the problem lies within the seat track sensor. This needs to be fixed on all cars and not just the ones Chrysler deems to want to fix. This is a huge safety issue and could lead to some serious problems. The NHTSA needs to make them do the right thing and fix all the cars, not the select few they (Chrysler) deem to might be having problems.

6 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

I was driving and airbag light kept coming on and going off. Even after I turned my car off and back on it did the same thing.

7 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2016

My car is having all of the same problems that the vehicles form the tpms recall had. My car isnt covered under the recall though. The cruise control wont work, the battery just goes dead, the remote start sysyem wont work, sometimes the engine wont start, the radio stays on all the time if you dont manually shut it off, the air bag light is on even though there is nothing wrong with it. I feel as though since my car has all the same problems and I have seen many more complaints from others on this site and other websites that the recall should be reevaluated and expanded to cover more of the same year of vehicles. Please do something about this for all of the owners having problems.

11 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

Could not use cruise control then air bag light came on and would not go off then it was hard to turn the steering wheel took it to my mechanic he found it to be the clock spring he tells me he's not sure if I have a accident the air bags are going to work and I could end up not being able to turn left or right in my vehicle the estimate is for 1000. 00 I don't have that. If its that serious there should be a recall or investigation into this problem.

12 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2015

I took my car in on January 21, 2015 because my airbag light was flashing again but this time it's a clockspring and shawn at Dodge told me that is not safe to drive the car like this because airbags wont work, my cruise control doesn't work and he said more things will fail. I think this should be on the recall list but it isn't. There is no way that I can have it fixed because I get $800 a month and to replace that part is $579. 30. Is there anyway to put this part on the recall list because it's not safe to drive. Thank you.

13 Air Bag Light On problem

14 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

Air bag light would come on intermittentaly and stay on for a period of time and then just shut off sometimes. After a number of repairs, it was discovered that the track sensor under the seat was not functioning properly (same as NHTSA campaign number: 07v240000) but my VIN was not included in the recall.

15 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2014

This has happened several times but today was the worst. The car has lost power serveral times in the rain mostly when making a turn or slowing down. This time I was driving no rain and the electronic throttle control light starting flashing. I was on the high way and noticed I couldnt accelerate. I started to slow down and move to the side of the road where it just lost power. Thank god I was able to pull over because there was a lot of trafic and I would have been hit. Also my son usually drives this car. This has happened several times to him and when it stalls you loose all power steering and brakes. It is really dangerous. We have had it to the dealer twice and they cant duplicate the problem so according to them there is no problem. I have been reading others complaints and they all seem to be the same issue. Also the airbag light keeps coming on. Is there any resolution to this issue. It seems that people have to die before issues get resolved . I hope Dodge will issue a recall before that happens.

16 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2014

I was driving 40 mph on a main road when I noticed my air bag light come. I was in the middle of talking about it with a friend and my air bag suddenly deployed in my seat. No accident or injuries but it could have been worse. I took the car to the shop where it sat for 4 months. They replaced the airbags but I had to pay $3000 for everything else that was wrong so that they could fix the air bag. That included the damaged crankshaft, the timing chain, the sensors, the fuel system that randomly stopped working the day I took it in. They told me there was no tell when all this was damaged. I bought the car at 53000 miles and was told it was in a rear end minor accident. But no other accident. I got my car back in July and it was working just fine for a little while and now all the problems I have had before are occurring again. Those problems are the stalling at stop lights, the rpm revving on its own when I'm in park, and the air bag light again keeps coming on when the passenger seat is moved. Also today I noticed that the paneling around my drivers seat belt isn't put together all the way. Should I be concerned? Chrysler needs to do something!.

17 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2014

Backing car out of the garage ,airbag light came on.

18 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

Air bag light comes on and stays on when when moving seat up or back which makes the sensor come on, have to keep moving the track until it turns off. Is this related to recall g14? fan in radiator constantly turns off and on, and now my car seems to have a electrical short that makes a knocking noise in the engine compartment when the air/heater is turned off, also the left side of car defroster does not work. Most recent the left driver seat belt all of a sudden is not retracting, this is not safe in the case of an accident, dealer is charging an outrageous price to have it fixed.

19 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2013

My air bag light keeps coming on periodically. I don't know if there is a malfunction, I just need to know that if I need them, they will work.

20 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2012

The airbag light came on. It will go off if the seats are moved forward and then back to the original position. I was told that 08 Avengers were recalled for an airbag sensor issue, but that mine had to do with a high level of resistance seen in the circuit and was not the sensor. Dodge has taken some responsibility for the issue as they agreed to pay $500 of the total $1,100 repair cost. I was told that this issue could cause the airbags to deploy without warning and may also cause them to fail to deploy in an incident. My belief is that this is a defect in the circuitry and/or airbags themselves and other owners may not be aware. Dodge is failing to provide a full investigation on this issue and is also failing to take full responsibility for this failure.

21 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2012

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated that the air bag light constantly illuminated. The dealer was notified and stated that the contact should bring the vehicle in for an inspection of the air bags. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. 22 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2012

Ever since I purchased my 2008 Dodge Avenger I have been burdened with a multitude of issues. My car stalled while I was sitting at a red light, no warning. . It just died. Tire pressure light was always on. Vehicle launches/ jerks forward when cruising at a speed of 45 or below. (and this all happened with my first year of owning the car in 2008) in 2011 gear stick got stuck in the park position. . I can go on but section is for airbags, which did not deploy during an accident I had last year, 2012. I slipped on black ice, which sent my car into a tail spin resulting me hitting. . . Actually bouncing off of the guard rail a few times. Prior to the 2012 accident I have had instances where the airbag lights would randomly turn on, indicating a problem. . Then shutting off by itself. I would schedule appointments with the dealership, but by the time the appointment date arrives, the airbag light would magically disappear! I called Dodge customer service today, as the airbag indicator is back on again. . I was told by the representative that there is nothing that they can do for me. She basically told me that I'm fresh out of luck, even though there is a recall, and I am experiencing the exact airbag issue as described in the recall, own the exact make, model and year vehicle. She said my VIN is not included in the recall, so there is nothing Dodge can do. I think the entire 2008 Dodge Avenger fleets are lemons and it is about time Dodge own up to their mistakes, they have no regard for their customers safety. When you are not stalling on the highways and byways, you are left stranded because you can not shift your gear out of park. . . Oh and the airbag issue. . . Its crucial, but unfortunalely Dodge does not think so.

23 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2012

When purchased, airbag light would come on and off. This year it has come on and stayed on.

24 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

Problem 1) the air bag lights would come on intermittently. Problem 2) the engine stalls intermittently, especially on rainy days. Problem 3) the front speakers sounded cracked or damaged and then over a short period of time the left speaker quit and the right speaker is majorly distorted. I might add this is not due to over cranking the stereo. This is due to cheap/inadequate quality speakers used.

25 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2011

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. While driving approximately 55 mph, a chime sounded inside of the vehicle with the illumination of the air bag warning indicator. The intermittent failures would occur briefly for fifteen seconds. The dealer was notified of the safety concerns regarding the defect. The vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was 31,297.

26 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2011

My 08 Dodge Avenger airbag light comes on when ever passanger seat is moved. I took the car to the dealership several times and they are saying since it didnot happen in there lot that its my fault. I think thats just ignorance, I talked to the general manager and assistant manager about the problem. That ive heard about Dodge Chrysler vehicles recalls in 2000 that the airbags light can come on and may cause a electrical problem which can set airbags on. I told them what if that happens to me and I go crash or hit someone cause they dont want to figure out the problem. They said you will be responsible since your the new owner. I barely bought my car Feb 5 2011 now its March 30 11. And ive taken the car 3 times due to airbag light, my car was in service for 3days I pick up today and I was ready to go airbag light came on again. Again they said they cant fix the problem they dont know what is wrong with it. I am concern about my safety in this vehicle. Worst buy ever.

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated that the air bag light would constantly illuminate on the instrument panel. 29 Air Bag Light On problem

30 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2010

On July 31st, 2010 I purchased a 2008 Dodge Avenger. Shortly after the purchase, when adjusting the seat the driver side airbag light would come on and ding. I have contacted daimler Chrysler and drivetime (car dealer) for assistance in resolving this issue but because my VIN number is not included in the recall, basically have been told there is nothing that can be done. I am referring to recall 07v240000. The description fits my vehicle to a perfect match. Depending on how and where the seat is positioned determines if the light is on or off. No one can tell me if the air bag will fail if involved in an accident or not. So, how do I get this addressed and covered in the recall? I can be reached by calling [xxx] or my husband cell [xxx]. He is fully aware of the situation. I am a nurse and unable to take calls at work. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

31 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2010

My airbag light will come on and go off. I brought it into the dealership and they ran a scan on the Avenger. They discovered that the code on the scan was the drivers seat sensor. They have recommended that I replace the airbag which is no longer under warranty. When I brought to there attention that there was a recall on the seat sensor they told me that my car was not included in the recall. So even if I pay to replace the airbag $1000 + and the issue is the sensor my airbag will still not work properly. I have found that I am not the only person who has this issue and is not covered by the recall. My Avenger also stall without reason. The dealership scanned it and no codes came up. They reset the computer. This has been going on for a year now. It has happened 6 or 7 times, even in the middle of the intersection.

32 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2010

33 Air Bag Light On problem

Own 2008 Dodge Avenger r/t. The air bag light came on. Took car to the dealer and they say there is a short in the airbag. It will need to be replaced. It will not go off in the event of a crash. They say it is not covered under any warranty.

34 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2010

Tl the contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. While driving 30 mph, the engine seized. On other occasions, the vehicle spontaneously accelerated and then dragged. Also, the driver's seat belt detached without warning and the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the thermostat, clockspring, ecm manifold, throttle body, starter, battery, air fan, integrated power module, air conditioner, compressor, intake runner, steering wheel, and engine needed to be repaired. The vehicle was taken to brockton Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram (241020 belmont st, brockton, MA 02301, (781) 961-1550), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 36,000. The VIN was invalid.

35 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2009

I purchased a 2008 Dodge Avenger Dec. 31, 2008. It was a used vehicle, the first problem may have been 5-6 months of having the car, it would stall when cranking and had cut off a couple of times when driving in traffic. I took it to the dealer and they claim they couldn't find what was wrong with it. About a month later the airbag light stays on while driving. They fix that. Now 10 months after having the car I'm in the car and trying to reverse and can't. The dealer tells me that my warranty just ran out. The part costs 200. 00. I can't afford that and I don't think I should because I hadn't even had the car for a year. They told me I couldn't do anything unless I had a warranty. My boyfriend's brother had to take the cover off and now everytime I want to go in reverse I have to push in this red spring in order for it to reverse. Please let me know who I can talk to about this problem. It is unsafe for me to drive like this, the console is not there but I can't afford the part right now.
