As I was traveling 65 mph down hwy 411 in centre, al my car (2008 Dodge Avenger) completely shutoff. I could barely get my car over to the side of the road due to the steering wheel wouldn't turn. Thank god it was 11 p. M on a Thursday night because if it would've been during the day this hwy is very busy and I could've caused a wreck and harmed myself or someone else. After I got on the side of the road I tried to start it back up a few times and it finally started back up but it wouldn't stop turning over until I cut it back off. Then I tried to start it again and it started but every light on my dash come on. I put it in drive and tried to drive it home but it wouldnt go over 15 mph. I had several vehicles run up on the back of my vehicle and I was actually afraid for my safety. When I got it home I shut it off and it wouldnt start back up. I then tried to start it back up the next morning and the electrical throttle control light come on and I still cant go over 15 mph. This should be a safety recall because I couldve been hurt bad or worse.
In motion at random times my electronic throttle control light will flash at the same time I lose all power at any speed. . . . . From coming into my driveway to highway speed 40-50mph to interstate speeds 65mph I was with my very I'll mom who has to travel with medical supplies and equipment and when she is in an accident, and left unable to get to her set destination, would suffer and did finally today . . . . We had to sit parked for longer that she medically is able to because of this problem with the electronic throttle control. It should be recalled & resolved before someone in my car, or myself, gets hurt or killed. I have had my Avenger since February - March 2009 and today is December 2018 and it has happened for over 2 years to me just because I am still alive, don't mean it shouldn't be resolved. Again, this happened before I got to the mileage I am now and is still happening. My airbag light stays on and I don't know if it would even work. . . . . . , if I was to impact from the loss of power that's caused from, the etc. Please recall & fix this.
The electronic throttle control light will flash while driving at any speed and the car loses power, to which I am forced to pull over and restart the car. Now I am having battery issues with the car as well. I have reported this once before and have had no offers to fix the problem. Now that my daughter is driving the car I am forced to report this again. I feel it is only right for Dodge to recall and fix this. Other Dodge owners have reported the same issue. It may have not caused an accident yet, but why wait until it does?????? I dont always have a safe spot to pull over to restart the car. It is very scary. It has happened several times in the last 6 months.

Was driving down the highway and noticed a delayed response when pushing down on the accelerator, moments later I was unable to accelerate and the car's electronic throttle control light appeared. The car was unable to go more then 15 mph. I had to have the car towed. I did not receive a warning before this happened however, I did notice my car stalling a little bit a day prior to this happening. I see I am not the only person with this problem, now I have to see how much money this is going to cost me. I am a college student and need my car but not this types of expense and safety risks it comes with. There are 125,000 miles on the car at this time.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle began to lose power as the check engine and the throttle warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic where they stated that the spark plugs and coil needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the throttle warning light remained illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 23,500. The VIN was unavailable.
I was driving on the highway going 55mph and the electronic throttle indicator light came on and my car failed to increase speed and started to jerk slightly. The rmps then jumped from 1700 about to over 2500 then started pushing 3000 and wouldnt go down until I was off the highway and going 30mph. My rpm was still around 2500. I was able to pull over and turn my car off and that seemed to fix the issue, until I needed to go on the highway again. Everytime my car went to shift to a higher gear when I was hitting between 50 and 55mph it would happen. It took my car to a mechanic who told me my car was undrivable because this would ruin my transmission. I now have a completely dead car due to the part I need being nationally unavailable.
While I was driving home from work I was driving approx 50 mph and I lose power and my electronic control throttle light came on. I couldn't go faster then 5 mph and my rpm wouldn't pass 2,000 I pulled over on side of road turned off the car and try to restart but it would only run for a few seconds and cut out again. My home town mechanic said that the issue was the throttle body. The total cost in repair is roughly 500 dollars, and reading online there are more drivers out there having the same issue. I think Dodge should do a recall on there 2008 Dodge Avengers and up.
My Dodge Avenger had a throttle control light illuminated on the dash when first starting the vehicle. Thereafter, the car first would not go over 20 mph. Later this problem progressed. The car only had a small amount of power. It could get up to 30-40 mph on flat areas but struggled to maintain 5 mph on inclines. The vehicle would also shake violently when the transmission was in gear but the vehicle was stopped do to engine vibrations. I have replaced the part and the car is still havin ghte same problem. At this point I'm not sure how to proceed.
While driving, vehicle immediately malfunctioned, preventing rpm in excess of 2500rpm and capping speed at 5mph uphill or 30mph downhill (incline dependent). At this time, electronic throttle control light appeared on dash. Since this time (3 days so far), the vehicle has been inoperable. Attempts to determine the cause of this malfunction by searching the internet have shown numerous other consumers have had similar problems, particularly with this make and model (2008 Dodge Avenger), and attribute it to a problem with the throttle body - either throttle body itself, throttle position sensor, wires leading to throttle body, electrical control of throttle body, I. E. Whether malfunction is battery-life-dependent, etc.

Was driving down the highway and noticed a delayed response when pushing down on the accelerator, moments later I was unable to accelerator and the car's electronic throttle control light appeared, the car was unable to go more then 15mph. Took the car to a service station where they ran a diagnostic test and no defaults were found.
Car lost acceleration at 35 mph electronic throttle light came on. Acceleration came back up. Next day no problems. The following day car was sputtering and light came on again then went off. Lost acceleration again at 30mph, with light coming on and then going off. 1 hour later when turning on car electronic throttle light is flashing and the whole car is shaking badly. I was able to coast the 1/4 mile home since there was no traffic with the car shaking the entire way and the light flashing. 10 minutes later had to go out and move car no issues. This is a serious problem. I had this fixed exactly a year ago. Being told it was something clogging a hose. I find that hard to believe when so many other people are having the exact same problem and almost getting killed when driving. Do a recall Dodge. Because we shouldn't have to pay to fix things when the mechanics aren't sure what the problem is. I'm praying I can make it to my garage safely tomorrow morning. I'm terrified to drive my car and haven't in 2 days.

The car only had a small amount of power. It could get up to 30-40 mph on flat areas but struggled to maintain 5 mph on inclines. The vehicle would also shake violently when the transmission was in gear but the vehicle was stopped do to engine vibrations. I am currently in the progress of replacing the Avengers throttle body. Normally I wouldn't report this, but when I called the dealer to order the part he informed me that they have been replacing a lot of these lately due to problems.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated that while traveling various speeds, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration power as the throttle control warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 93,000.
On the highway in an attempt to accelerate, the electronic throttle control light began to flash and the car lost power. I had to get onto the shoulder and put my hazards on and try and drive the car while never getting over 20mph. After restarting the car it drove ok, however, there was no passing acceleration when the pedal is to the floor. Leading up to this event, the car has been stuttering when shifting between gears. My wife had the same issue with her caliber before she got rid of it. There needs to be a recall!!!.
Once electronic throttle control indicator light comes on, it is difficult to maintain consistent speed. I also have no control over my temperature gauges. Airbag light, check engine light comes on together with this as well.
Electronic throttle control light came on and stayed flashing could not go over approx 15-25 mph. Pulled over shut car off and restarted and worked fine for the 5 min drive I had to complete after it happened. 9 hours later while driving the throttle control light came on again with loss of power intermittently then stayed off for 5 min drive I had to complete.
The electronic throttle control light comes on and makes the car impossible to drive. This has been an issue for me for 10 months. I have read about many others having this exact problem with no luck or help from Dodge. After cleaning and replacing the few affordable things, I still can not go more than a few days without the light coming back on. It usually sits in the driveway at least until I can afford the recommended $1100 repair that Dodge refuses to fix. I will never ever buy another Dodge.

Was driving on the highway and could not go over 30 mph. The electronic throttle light came on and was flashing. I got off at the next exit and had the vehicle towed. A couple of days later, tried the vehicle and it did run fine again. After a couple more days, the speed was not what it should be. Moved very slow and the rpm went high before it would change gears. Lost power especially going up hill. Happened again today. Could not go over 30 mph. Barely made it up a hill and to work. Having the vehicle towed again.

As I was driving down the road headed onto the interstate my car lost speed and went from 50mph to 40mph and the electronic throttle body light came on. Gas pedal was to the floor and couldn't go over 40mph. Felt like the car was going to die if I was to let off the gas then it would all of a sudden speed up on its own to 50. When I had to slow down for a red light which thankfully I didn't need to stop I couldn't get the mph over 30 once I started going again. I got home safe but this seems to be a problem as I have read. This needs to be fixed or recalled. Big safety issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

While driving this morning, my car hesitated and stalled. I was able to get my car restarted, but the check engine light came on. After a couple of minutes of driving, the electronic throttle control light came on and the car lost power and would not accelerate. It was very stressful because this all happened during rush hour traffic in washington DC. I have researched this problem and it seems that it is a common occurrence. . . Please recall now for safety reasons!!!!.
I was driving 25 mph when the electronic throttle control indicator light came on. The light remained lit while I was driving. The speed of my car decreased and I was not able to accelerate when pushing the gas pedal. My car seemed as if it was coasting. I turned my car around to park it. When I pressed the brakes my car seemed like it wanted to shut off. My car began jerking. I did not make it even 1 mile from my home before this took place.
