1 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2025

I was driving and I stopped at a stop sign. When I got ready to go, the car stalled and stopped and wouldn't start. After 30 minutes, it started but I ended up having it towed. My mechanic was able to replicate it after putting the car in the sun, running it for 10 minutes and then driving it. When the mechanic tried to look at it, he couldn't find anything to cause it to stop. I look it to the dealership. They were unable to replicate it or find the problem. It seems to happen when the car gets hot it stops without warning. Other people in the Dodge Avenger online group have experienced the same thing. The horn also keeps beeping without warning and the airbag sign is on. I think all of these items are connected. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. Then the car stalled on the interstate, from there I was towed to a car max. There they charged me for the labor on the alternator because I had an exttended warranty at the time of this particular failure. We received a safety recall for our 2012 Dodge Avenger that our seatbelts and airbags may not work in a crash. Of course we were very concerned as this was our only car. When we called to make an appointment to have this very dangerous safety recall fixed, they lied and told us it would take a while for the parts to become available. We got tired of waiting and went to trade this car in for a Toyota. We were shocked to hear that this safely recall was stamped with "no fix" available. Dodge will not fix this issue and we lost over $7,000 in trade in value due to this "no fix" safety recall. How can these companies get away with not fixing such a dangerous safety recalls at the expense of the consumer?.

24 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2017

Nothing has happened yet with my vehicle in regards to this recall, but am extremely concerned in regards to the safety features (air bag and seat belt pretensioner) that were determined as defective by this recall. One of the primary reasons that I purchased this vehicle was due to the good safety ratings it received, so I am very upset that this is not being fixed in a timely manner. I don't feel like I should be forced to buy a new vehicle due to this recall, but without any estimate on when the parts will be available, I do not appreciate the predicament I am in where I do not have a safely drivable vehicle and am essentially rolling the dice by driving around in a death trap any time I do use it. I am hoping that I do not have to wait until a bad thing happens before I can get my vehicle repaired properly. Any information and assistance would be appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration of this request to expedite the resolution of this issue.

I was informed of the recall in October of 2016 and I have just recently been told that Dodge will not have a part to fix the recall until at the earliest June 2017. This is unacceptable because we have already waited five months for a fix and my wife is pregnant and we already have a toddler.

27 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2016

I received a recall notice for the airbags and seat belts in my Avenger. They are saying that the restraints and protective equipment may or may not work properly in the event of an accident. I frequently carry my children and grandchildren in that vehicle. Chrysler is saying that there is no fix for this problem at this time. They are saying that the parts are not even designed - or available, and will not be until the second quarter of next year. I am in contact with Chrysler - and they have offered to pay for a rental vehicle using my credit card - and then reimburse me. However, this could go on for months and months. I do not think that they have properly notified the american public of the dangers of the failure of the safety equipment. I do not think that I should have any responsibility for providing them with my credit card to obtain a safe vehicle when I purchased the vehicle in good faith that it was safe and sound. Please help me.

Takata recall also heater core issue. Heat only blows on drivers side when set to heat and cold air blows on passenger side. Seems to be a known issue with Chrysler but they do not want to force a recall. Transmission also slams into gear when stopping and at times before acceleration. No dip stick to verify fluid level. Dealer states nothing wrong with it. They stated they flushed heater core and still have same issue. This happens driving in winter or summer on highway, city streets.
