general problems of the 2013 Dodge Avenger - part 1

Was driving on hwy when vehicle loss power, was able to quickly pull over. Turned vehicle off and restarted vehicle. Got back onto the hwy ,vehicle loss power again, this time it wouldn't turn over. Replaced fuel pump,replaced valve timing sensor, crank sensor, replaced battery, replaced ignition switch and antitheft oem {replaced 5x}, reprogrammed vehicle 3x's, bought new key to program to vehicle. After $1500. 00 still not fixed, dealership has had the vehicle for well over a month. The dealership contacted the manufactured company, manufactured company said it was a faulty orc part. The manufacture company was suppose to send the dealership the new orc part and still hasn't done so, dealership says its on back order and there isn't no eta for the part to arrive.

2 days after purchasing my vehicle I was driving getting my speed up approximately 45 mph when the vehicle started to lunge forward and nothing was under the gas pedal and it stalled. I pulled it over to the side of the road. It started back up within 2 to 3 minutes. Drove fine for about another 20-25 minutes and then did it again. I put fuel treatment in it. It seemed to drive better the next day but then I did it again. I had it towed to a service department where they did a complete vehicle inspection- no codes were thrown $2500 later- picked up vehicle and later that evening it starts blowing smoke out from under the dash- towed back to service department- $300 later- pick car up and she breaks down within 10 minutes- towed again- ,$450 later ---- the vehicle loses all connection and stalls while going 45 to 70 mph- without warning - on the interstate- unsafe for everyone on the road not just the dumb owner. Why is my VIN number not associated to any of the 5 recalls? 3 of which are dealing with the exact issues I am having!!! I have spent every last penny I have on this and still . . . Safety hazard.

Total electric glitching car will not turn over.

The tipm failed causing the car to shut off and not start again. The problem has been confirmed by upstate auto. There was a recall on the tipm but it was not replaced instead some occupant restraints were replaced instead and now the manufacturer does not make the tipm part anymore.

I urgently need your assistance regarding a critical and unsafe situation concerning the pcm/ecu. Recently, while driving, my car began to shudder as if it was on the verge of stalling. To add to the alarming situation, every warning light on the dashboard illuminated. The speedometer and thermostat suddenly stopped functioning, leaving me without crucial information about the vehicle's speed and temperature. This not only compromised my safety but also made it impossible to gauge the car's performance. In response to this hazardous scenario, I immediately pulled over to a stop. Sadly, the car shut off, and despite my attempts, it has refused to restart ever since. The inability to restart presents a severe safety issue and has left me stranded without transportation. Compounding this ordeal, several auto shops have tried to address the pcm/ecu connectivity issues with no success. This recurring problem, combined with the recent dangerous episode on the road, underscores the urgency for resolution. I am deeply concerned about the potential risks posed by the malfunctioning pcm/ecu and the compromised safety of both myself and others on the road. The inability to accurately monitor speed and temperature could have dire consequences if left unaddressed.

The throttle body system keeps failing and causing my etc light to come on. This causes the car to lose speed and almost stalling while driving. Thus happens out if no where and while driving the car will automatically slow down on it own and won't let me accelerate which is very dangerous when driving on the highway or trying to make a turn and your car stops accelerating. I have had the throttle body replaced multiple times and it never resolves the issue.

Engine stalls when driving without warning due to a faulty totally integrated power module which also causes a host of other electrical failures such as headlights not turning off, passenger window not rowing down, heat only working on high setting, windshield wipers going haywire, radio volume disappearing off the display and not working then reappearing and a total power dim and then surge while driving. This is the most dangerous car I’ve ever been in, and I’m disgusted to see that NHTSA already knows about these faulty units and Chrysler has already had lawsuits and recalls on these tipm units in the cherokees and durangos.

There are days the car will not start. The engine will try and turn over but never starts. (2) there have been several times while driving the car that the car will just turn off while driving. The car is very difficult to steer to pull it off the road for safety. The car will leave me stranded for at least an hour before it will start again. (3) the heat on the passenger side only blows out cold air. There is no heat on that side. (4) the car will start clicking in the dashboard for no apparent reason. This is baffling cause I have no idea what it is or what it is trying to do.

I am always having to buy a starter or battery because it is always saying that it is bad. Also the throttle light is on now and it is making the car act up and it will not go.

Car shuts off while driving, no warning, it will start back up after a few tries. Has happened multiple times.

On Monday, July 19, 2021, the car started randomly blowing the horn while I was driving to work. When I arrived in my parking garage and turned the car off, the alarm system started going crazy with flashers and horn going off like mad. It only stopped when I opened the hood and slammed it shut - not really sure that's what stopped it, but I didn't know what else to do. Random horn beeping continued on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, no horn beeping, but the motor shut off in the middle of rush hour traffic on the baltimore beltway. I was lucky to be able to get the car off the road and onto the shoulder. I'm now afraid to drive it. Car has been at the mechanic all day Thursday, July 22 and today, Friday 23, 2021. The mechanic recommended I take the car to the dealer, but I was advised by the dealer that the part (the tipm) is no longer available through mopar. So now the mechanic is trying to figure out what to do.

I was driving approximately 40 and then the car had no power. When I gave it gas it would not go. It dropped to about 10 mph. The red flashing etc and engine light came on. Very scary. I could not move out of anyone way if I had to.

Passenger side blows cold air and will not defrost the front window when driving. We live in mt and this causes visibility issues and seems to be a common problem with this. Also, the vehicle keeps quitting at various times. It has been seen multiple times and over $5k dropped into it with the same issues.

My 2013 low mileage I bought this car brand new from Dodge dealershipl only owner is first time driving this car this winter always had a winter car. There's a problem with heating system only driver side blow hot air (heat) passenger side blow cold air (no heat) have contact Chrysler they suggest fill out this form online because has been alot complaints about the cars.

When heater is on. . . It blows hot on driver side and cold on passenger. . . This happens wit all fans and on all settings. . . I don't have documentation but when I researched the problem. . . The issue occurs mostly while the vehicle is in motion, but occasionally when it is sitting still and idling. While driving, the car engine will suddenly stall. No warning lights or check engine lights turn on. No codes are found when scanning the obd2. There are no recorded miss fires for any of the cylinders either. This is an especially dangerous situation specifically when driving full speed on major highways or roads. When the engine stalls, power steering cuts out and I have to muscle the car off to the side of the road to put the car in park and start it up again. The engine has stalled while going in reverse, driving forward, and sitting idle. This has happened over a dozen times now.

But was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 70,000. Ap.

While driving the engine will throttle down or cut the acceleration off making it dangerous to drive on the highway. I have to pull over repeatedly to turn off the vehicle and restart it to make it to a safe place to look at the engine.

Takata recall: I was driving my 2013 Dodge Avenger sxt on the highway and I heard a pop. And then I felt all this air but all windows was up. I pull my sunroof cover back and look and my sunroof exploded. Glass everywhere. My sunroof was not open and it was not in the vent open option either. It was completely closed when this happened on April 29,2019 around 10:45 am in the morning.

Faulty tipm. I was in motion driving on the city street. I had my cellphone charging in the cigarette lighter port and my windshield wipers on at the same time. My windshield wipers started freezing up in the middle of my window until I unplugged my phone. I had to pull over and wait for the rain to stop. It even does it when I turn on the air condition. Sometimes when I push the lock button on my driver side door, all 4 doors will lock. Btw, I know it's not the battery because, I just had a brand new one installed 1 month ago.

Under the hood there’s electric tape holding wires together. Which is illegal. The check engine light came on since I got the car. I can’t fill my gas tank to fill cause the check engine light comes on. So it’s at half tank and can’t fill it to fill. My car did stall twice. Then there is hissing under the driver’s front side. The back end of my car feels like is going to fall apart this is a issue since I got the car. I have brought it to the dealership and they did nothing to fix any issues with the car since I got the car.

The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 13v552000 (engine), 13v043000 and (fuel system, gasoline). They had issued 7 TSB on the electrical system, 6 TSB on engine and engine cooling as well as 2 TSB on the fuel system however the contact was uncertain if any of the TSB information was related to the failure. The contact was uncertain if the manufacturer had a remedy for a dealers repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was waiting for a response to get the vehicle repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 138,177. Dyd.

Passenger side defrost/vent defects. The defrost and heat/air on the passenger side are not working due to a manufacturers defect. I cannot see when the heat outside the car is too high or low and the window doesn't properly defrost due to cold air only coming out of the passenger side. Only cold air blows from the vents on the passenger side in both heat/air and regardless of settings. This occurs stationary and in motion, on the highway and while turning.

Check engine light with throttle control system light on when I got into car this morning. Had not been driving vehicle. Shut car off then turned it back on because I was unsure what the light was for. Looked it up on line to find that it is the throttle control system.

There is no electrical power going to the passenger side head light on my vehicle. The interior lights flash on and off while the vehicle is in motion.

I have an issue with my 2013 heating system. My driver side vents are blowing hot air , though my passenger side is blowing cold and I do not have the money to fix this! bad time of year for this problem, my child and myself will be freezing this winter! also it has under 100,000 miles on it !! and no, it happens parked or in motion . Cold air blowing out of passengers side while drivers side blows hot, and makes annoying clicking sound. The actuators in the dash keep going out!!! this should be recalled thousands of people have no heat because Chrysler used cheap plastic in the actuators that are causing them to wear out every year. And the dash makes the clicking sound even when the car is off! this is a major problem when you buy a car to transport your children and there are recalls that I am never getting notified about.
