While I was driving the battery, check engine, tire pressure, and traction light all came on at the same time, then all of a sudden everything (radio, instruments panel, speed odemeter etc. . . )when off in the car and then the a/c started blowing. It kept doing this off and on the whole time driving. The brake lights stay on. So far I have changed the battery, alternator, and the brake switch sensor and it's still doing the same thing. The vehicle was in motion on the hwy. I also got and check engine scan done on the vehicle. The one I could fix I fixed all but the tipm.

Took the car in to the dealer for a recall however my VIN did not come up. I'm not sure why when the recall included my year make. Brake light reverse and signals are not working . I have 2 children under 10 years old I take to school and after school functions. This is a serious matter that needs to be corrected. The issues with the 2008 Dodge Avenger are part of the national recall. When driving creates dangerous conditions due to no functioning signals or warnings. The dealer did state it was the whole box timp. This is what was recalled.

The "check brake" indicator light continued to illuminate even after we got the "occupant restraint controller (orc) recall fixed. We were told that the ocr was connected to the brake system in turn making the brake light illuminate, and it would go off after you drive a couple hundred miles. After many months this problem still continued intermittently illuminating either while driving - on either city street or highway or when coming to a complete stop at a red light or when it was in park. We took it back to hendrick Dodge in charlotte, nc to ultimately be told that we need a master brake cylinder that cost $782. 10. This car only had 41,941 miles on it and all services were kept up. The service advisor then told us that this was due to a "brake booster water sheild defect". We would like to report this "defect" that Dodge does not offer any "recall" on or any financial assistance with. We would greatly appreciate your assistance in this matter. Thank you for your consideration.

Wipers stop working, the lights would not turn off, and the brake light come at random while vehicle in motion.
While driving down the interstate with the cruise control on, the cruise shut off, the brake light, abs light and traction control light came on and the car experienced a sudden lose of power and was braking itself. The sudden lose of speed and braking out of the driver's control on the interstate during rush hour created a safety hazard.

Purchased vehicle 02/2013 six moths later noticed brake light would come on when coming to a stop going down a hill. Took in for service, told "brake sensor is too sensitive. " one year later noticed when vehicle is in motion beyond 50mph engine will hesitate- feels like it will shut off. Similar situation when idling. Two years later steering makes lots of noise. None of these concerns have been addressed when brought to staff's attention at Dodge dealership. Dodge requests I pay $107+ for a diagnostic test. Not happy with this purchase more so because I am mother to a three year old and expecting. . . I feel very unsafe in this car.

I have an 08 Avenger, I have had it back to the dealership 4 times over the brakes. My brake light is coming on again and when I called customer service, I'm now told it's past the 12 month warranty and it's my problem. I am appalled that Dodge is hiding behind this excuse. Had they fixed it right the first 4 times it wouldn't be an issue now.
The contact owned a 2008 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated the brake lights would independently illuminate sporadically. The dealer topped off the brake fluids, yet there were no repairs. The failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure and topped off the brake fluids yet again. The failure persisted and the vehicle was taken to the dealer a third time. The dealer advised the failure was due to an internal failure with the switch brake fluid level. The failure continued and the dealer attempted to check and set the brake fluid level and installed a new reservoir. The failure persisted and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer four additional times where the brakes were check, brake fluid was refilled and a four wheel brake inspection was performed, all of which did not correct the failure. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was 3,490 and current mileage was 16, 563. Updated 09/24/10. Updated 09/24/10.
Was driving vehicle & started to apply brakes to slow down, and brakes started to make squealing noises. Also, abs brake light came on. Informed by mechanic only 20% of brakes left. Was normal wear & tear on brakes. Took vehicle to dealers & had the rotors resurfaced.

The first problem with the modulator in the master cylinder was on 02/05/00. There were 2544 miles on the vehicle. The brake light came on and the car was not braking properly. The following day the abs fan continued to run after the car was turned off. The car was still not braking properly. The vehicle was towed to nalley Dodge. On 05/22/00, with 6,438 miles on the car, the vehicle was brought in again. The brake pedal was being pressed to the floor, however, the brakes were not stopping thecar. I had an appointment set for 7 am. At 12 pm, I called to get an assessment of the problem. I was told the car had not been looked at yet. I expressed my concern due to the fact I had an appointment and it was not granted. I was given a call within an hour and was told the car was ready. . According to the repair bill, the brake fluid was low and it just needed to be topped off. On 06/01/00, at 7,314 miles, I brought the car in again for the same problem as on 05/22/00. I was told the master cylinder needed to be replaced. When I expressed my concern as to why it was not replaced on 05/22/00; I was told a different technician looked at it, on the previous date. When I compared all 3 bills, I noticed the master cylinder modulator was replaced twice. It was replaced once on 02/05/00, and again on 06/01/00. I was not given a good reason as to why the modulator was not replaced on 05/22/00, and it had to be brought in again, 876 miles later, for the same problem. The service advisor at nalley Dodge, derrick, seemed unconcerned with our questions about the vehicle not stopping on three seperate ocassions within the first 8000 miles of our ownership of a new vehicle. We are now seeking arbitration to receive a new vehicle without braking problems.
