4 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2011 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 12/09/2017

2011 Dodge Avenger. 3. 6l engine. While driving between 30 and 40 mph, on deceleration, once the gas pedal is pressed to accelerate, the engine stalls. All electrical still works, but power steering and braking are lost. Car does not restart for at least an hour or more, but will start evnetually. Has happened "intermittently" 10 times since Dec 2017 (this report done July 2018). 8 dealer trips with a torque converter replacement, new fuel pump and still stalling issues while trying to accelerate. Empty back roads, state highways and even busy freeways have all been locations for stalls. All weather conditions, (winter, summer, wet, dry). One code pulled referred to the tipm, which is a major problem for Chrysler, but not documented in the Avenger. Dealer wants a second code to confirm but of the 10 stalls and 8 being towed to the dealer immediately, only once was code saved in car's computer.

6 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2012 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 03/12/2017

March 12, 2017 heading south, down veteran parkway springfield IL. When I noticed my car red 2012 dodhe Avenger r/t turned off mid motion around 45mph. No warning!! no acceleration, no brakes, no power stearing!? no control of the car! staying calm but clueless, I was able to turn to a side road and cautiously turned into a parking lot next to office max and waited 1 hr for a tow. Street name ilse Ave. Towed to green Dodge springfield IL the same day. Monday, March 13 the tech diagnoses fuel pump not working, (2cd diagnosis of fuel pump failure this year. 1st time in January 2017 tech diagnosed shortage in wire to fuel pump fried the fuel pump. Do they ordered the part and fixed the problem ( so they thought) now this 2cd diagnosis was new fuel pump. So they ordered the part. Well the fuel pump worked but car did not run. Further diagnosis by the tech from green Dodge, is faulty tipm module! not the fuel pump, not a shortage in wire from previous diagnosis they did. Shouldn't the tipm should have been noticed the first time. I have done some research on the tipm settlement for Chrysler lawsuit for installing faulty tipm modules in thousands of vehicles and I believe this includes my vehicle here red 2012 Dodge Avenger r/t, and I believe green Dodge took advantage of me as a valued customer as they say , my money , and my time in need of help! I have payed 1400$ almost to get this problem fixed and almost 3 months time span for same issue that should have been addressed the first time!.

7 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 01/03/2017

The first problem was the horn randomly honking which progressively got worse to the point it was blaring and would not stop when the engine was turned off. We had the horn hard wired bypassing the t. I. P. M. Randomly the throttle is unresponsive and then the car shuts down and sometimes will not restart for a while. We replaced the fuel pump and this did not resolve the problem.

10 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2011 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 07/23/2014

I was driving to a parking lot around a turnabout and as I approached the entrance for the parking lot, the steering became extremely difficult, almost causing the car to miss the entrance and for me to veer of the road. I looked at the tachometer and noticed that the engine had completely turned off. This was about the third occurrence. The previous two times the car had stalled at an intersection's red light and didn't notice until the light turned green. When I depressed the gas pedal, the car wouldn't move. Again, I would look at the tachometer, and the engine stalled. I wish to have on the record that today, 9/22/14 at approximately 11:30am, I contacted dave thompson of palm auto mall in punta gorda, FL to voice my concerns about a recall I read in the local news about a fuel pump recall for Jeep cherokees with a 3. 6l v6 and was given the runaround. My car has the exact same engine, and made during that recall's date! this is important because I described this exact problem when my car was serviced 9/16-9/17/14. I was told today that since my car is not involved with the Jeep recall, they couldn't do anything. I warned dave thompson that if I get into an accident due to this problem, he is going to be on record that I explained this problem to him. Thank god I was driving slowly. If my mother were driving the same car, she would not have had the strength to turn the wheel in this circumstance. Highly dangerous and potentially fatal problem with this car.

Failure Date: 04/16/2011

Purchased my 2008 Dodge Avenger in April 2008 and have had nothing but problem after problem with it first the air bags were recalled then the latches on the doors were recalled. The tire pressure sensor light just never goes off most recently the fuel pump went on the vehicle costing me close to 700 and now the alternator which is going to cost me another 600. What kind of vehicle did Dodge build. This is some bs an all of this is while the vehicle only has about 65000 miles or less n it.

14 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 06/30/2010

My 2008 Dodge Avenger will spill fuel at every refueling regardless if I use the locking mechanism on the fuel pump or if I fill by hand when the tank gets to full tank. It's almost like there is too much pressure built up that it spits fuel back out. This is a common occurrence with a lot of new Avengers. Just do a simple google search on "Dodge Avenger gas overflows". Dodge please issue a recall.
