1 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 12/16/2019

When fueling the vehicle the gas pump will shut off when the tank is full, but the car's fuel tank will blow gas out of the filler tube and down the side of the car. It does not matter if you are filling the car slow or fast. It does this at all gas stations so it is not the gas station's fuel pumps.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

I was driving down road after filling gas tank car starting spitting, gas hand floating up and down, light flashing,.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 02/01/2019

Fuel overflows while filling tank regardless of refueling rate, ambient temperature, or service station. This happens nearly every refuel causing an environmental mess and wasting money.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 02/23/2017

When filling the tank all the way to full from empty gas pump will shut off and you will hear the "click" nozzle is still in fuel hole and fuel sprays everywhere. Runs down vehicle onto brake system. Huge safety concern. Vehicle was off and parked.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 03/20/2013

When filling up gas tank, pump doesn't shut off properly. Happens at every pump. Had gas tank replaced once because fuel tank rollover valve had melted shut. Worked for about 1,000 miles with new tank, once again shoots out gas and does not shut off automatically. Seems to be a common problem with Dodge Avengers 2008, however Dodge does nothing about it. Epa will go crazy if they find out, along with the fact that it is outright dangerous to have fuel coming back out of the tank onto the ground. Greater than half a gallon comes out each time. Slowing pumping, burping, fueling fast, holding nozzles at different depths does nothing to alleviate issue.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 12/24/2012

When filling up the gas tank, the pump clicks off but then a bunch of gas spurts out of the tank onto the car and ground. This is incredible unsafe and environmentally hazardous. Repair is about $1000. Given the number of previous reports on relatively low mileage vehicles, this should be a recall.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 04/20/2012

When filling the car up you cant get 1. 5 gals in before it spits fuel out on you and the side of the car. The fuel tank is collapsing and pushing fuel out of top of tank and onto the ground while parked and driving really worried about causing undercarriage fire and I have research this and a lot of people are having the same issue. The dealer cost almost $1,000 to fix it, we need to make this a recall for the people's safety as well as my family's thank you.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 10/13/2010

When filling the gas tank the gas comes shooting back out of the tank. This has happened since I purchased the vehicle in 9/2010 and has consistently gotten worse. It now happens every time I fill the tank unless I stop it before it is completely full. I have been completely soaked in gasoline because of the velocity of the gas coming back out of the tank. I have contacted Dodge as there are recalls on jeeps for the same issue and there is currently not a recall on the Dodge vehicles.
