39 Body problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

I was driving down the road every time I shifted gears the front end would just go like wobble wobble so I slow down from 45 to about 10 miles an hour if that I made it home with zagg got underneath there and the sub frame is literally busted the way it sits it looks like it does not have a motor in it anymore if I want to know what to do I would've wrecked if I do not get an answer soon I am going to channel 13 news I have pictures of what it looks like and I'm going to the better business bureau it's a 2008 there is no way that frame should've busted like it did no way I was on city roads.

40 Body problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 06/27/2019

While driving my son heard an abnormal noise (squeaking and clunking) was coming from under the car by the driver side wheel. Upon investigating when we grabbed the stabilizer arm on the right side it had significant movement. We grabbed the left side for comparison and it did not move. We followed the stabilizer bar and found that the point where the bushing attaches to the subframe had cracked off. While looking at the subframe closer it has significant corrosion/rust (a lot more than a vehicle with 120k miles should have). We contacted Chrysler and they were willing to "warranty" (even though it is outside the warranty period) the front and back subframe however they would not cover any parts that attached to the subframe. We were told that if any bolts/parts that broke were our responsibility which could cost up to $2000 which is half the value of the car. So with Chrysler covering the subframe pieces and labor (estimated $1000) technically the vehicle is totaled (combined total repair costs $3000 on a car worth $4000). . . . And now an 18 year old kid no longer has a car. The rest of the car is in great shape and should have easily gone another 80k miles at a minimum. Such a shame to scrap/part out a vehicle at 120k miles for a manufacturing/quality deficiency.

41 Body problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 05/29/2019

Let me start by saying that I love driving my 2008 Dodge Caliber and wish that it was worth repairing all of the issues that I am researching are common problems among fellow owners of this year, make and model of vehicle. As a person who pays close attention to my vehicle, repair costs have been adding up over the past couple of years. Starting with a complete repair related to the suspension including the control arms/ bushings, sway bar, ball joints, and tie rods, which has caused my 4 new tires to experience a shortened lifespan due to uneven wearing. Recently, I had my car in the shop to address a loud noise I was hearing while the vehicle was in motion. The mechanic diagnosed a long list of issues, including rusting/corrosion to the engine cradle and further problems with the suspension that in their professional opinion determined the vehicle unsafe to operate. At this point, the mechanic informed me that there had been recalls and an extended warranty implemented to address the rusting/corrosion of the sub frame, as I was unaware and did not receive any notices for any of the listed recalls. Today, I find myself researching the list of problems that the mechanic indicated with the suspension and rotting engine cradle and will unfortunately not be worth putting thousands of dollars into to make it safe, an issue that should be honoured by the manufacturer. I would like to take the proper steps to address this extreme safety concern that has been an obvious issue for many owners like myself. I wonder how many others did not receive the recall notice for the rotting engine cradle and have spent thousands in repairs on that and/or suspension malfunctions? these problems are not minor and need to be addressed, as I am sure there are many owners who have not been made aware of the recall and safety concerns this poses to operators or others in the vehicle presence.

43 Body problem of the 2009 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

The vehicle started shaking and pulling to the right I brought the vehicle to a body shop to find out what is wrong with the vehicle and was told the frame was rotted. I called my local Dodge dealership and they informed me there was no recalls or warranty for the vehicle. Attached is the extended warranty which states this should be fixed under warranty. The cost to fix this issue will cost 1700 dollars thats the price I was quoted. What can I do about this I cant afford to fix it and its unsafe to drive and can cause severe injuries or death if it breaks while driving. If you cant help please help me find the help I need.

44 Body problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 04/26/2019

I went to my local Dodge dealer for oil change and was informed that front sub frame is rotting out. Was told extended warranty that was good for 10 years expired 2-18. I have read online numerous Caliber owners with this problem, some so bad they can't be fixed. What good is an extended warranty that is only good for the first ten years and I bought this car in 2012 from a Dodge dealer and was never informed of extended warranty for this issue or that there was even an issue with this. This is a major safety concern as what chances would a person have of surviving at a speed of 70 mph and the frame breaks? or what innocent people could be killed because of it. With this many persons having this issue and such a serious safety problem there should be a recall. My car only has 126,500 miles on it. If Dodge does not want to do a recall then I feel they don't give a damn about their customers and will not buy another Dodge or Chrysler again. Please consider persuing a recall for this vehicle issue as it is serious!!.

46 Body problem of the 2011 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 03/15/2019

I came to visit my son for a spring break in west virginia and I have noticed/heated a very loud noise. I asked my son what is that loud noise? I made an ocular inspection under the car and found very rotten condition sub-frames. I immediately very worried and took the car to the nearest car service repair to take a look at the rotten sub-frames. I noticed the car was very unstable while driving to the shop even at a low speed. The mechanic emmediately concluded that the sub-framed is so rotten and worried it would collapse. The mechanic recommended that the sub/frames be replaced. The mechanics called part supplier to order needed sub-frame parts. The mechanic was told my car has a recall for sub-frames and suggested to bring my car to the nearest Dodge service center in morgantown west virginia. Again it was very frightening driving the car to urse fidge authorized service center. I discovered that my car has two recalls: s60 and x69. I left my car st Dodge service for necessary repair. I told them that the car is very dangerous to drive. Another issue with the car is the engine losing power while my son was driving to west virginia university. I was driving and following my son's and suddenly he drove his car along the side road. I thought he was just resting but found later when arrived st the university that the car slowed down along I-68. This really convened me also because it is life threatening. The third issue I exprienced while driving the car, is the brake. Break bounced back and doesn't stopped instantly. This really concerned me si much also. It's a safety hazard. After experiencing the safety concern of this car which can cause lives. I'm really afraid driving this car. I would like to recommend that Dodge company must need to buy-out the cars that are out there to prevent injuries and preserve lives.
