I started having noise problems with my car and also had inspection due so I brought it into a mechanic and he was horrified to see that my front cross member was so rusted that my sway bar came out and he said lucky my wheels didn’t come off and that a car accident would be horrible as it is that rusted , and he also stayed the back cross member is the same . This is a huge safety concern specially where my car itself isn’t even rusted only the cross members. I hope you can help me and my family so we can be safe . Thank you richard.

I was informed at inspection that the main front cross member has a huge hole in the center of it and is rusting out badly. At 162,356 miles this car will not pass safety inspection. This car is not safe for me or my family. No warning lamps or messages. I was told that one bad bump could do us in. We were told to contact the dealership and found out about the extended warranty that had already passed during the previous owners time. This should have been a recall, but what else can you expect from Dodge.
Air bags didn't not deploy during a single car accident which ended in a head on crash into side of mountain then rolled over onto the roof. Speed about 30-35 mph. When tow truck turned car back over the driver's seat wasn't connected. Also prior to this accident problems with alignment, esp rear.

On multiple occasions vehicle completely shuts down and locks up when slowing down and turning. Almost rear-ended and then t-boned in middle of intersection. Takes several minutes to restart and unlock steering wheel then drives fine.

I I have changed multiple times the sway bar links and had to put on new struts twice. There was supposed to be a recall on the cross member bar and when I took it to be fixed the dealer would not honor the recall on the bar. It is now making once again a popping sound in the front drivers side and I am wanting to once again get the recall on the car that was supposed to be fixed before.

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Dodge Caliber. The contact stated that while their son was driving the vehicle and attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot when the vehicle's front driver side wheel suddenly detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the front crossmember had corrosion. The vehicle's subframe was repaired, the front crossmember was repaired, and the vehicle received an alignment. The repairs were related to manufacturer communication with NHTSA id number: 10140027 (suspension, steering). The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that due to the repairs being completed outside of the dealership they were unable to provide the repair. Cost. The manufacturer did open case regarding the matter. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000. Gl.
I was turning in my vehicle for a trade in and during the appraisal test drive the axel broke and it had to be towed. The gentlemen stated that is was due to rust build up. Over the years, I have complain about the power steering feeling off, the car not driving right, etc and it has been in three places where the maintenance folks said nothing was wrong. According to the bulletin, these same issues should have been caught somewhere to prevent this from happening. I may have been notified but I am active duty military and move every two years to include deployments where I easily could have not received the notice. My car value was 1500 dollars before it was wrecked, but I should be reimbursed for the previous maintenance totals and the lost days of not having my car the other times it should have been fixed. Below, I will show pictures of the rust, inspections that was done in June 2018 showing that underneath was good, and previous work on my vehicle when I complaint of issues with steering, tires, suspension. Number: 23-007-17 rev. C group: 23 - body date: July 13, 2017.
Have a 2007 Dodge Caliber with 90k miles. My wife recently went to get it inspected and come to find out the front and rear crossmembers and subframe components were terribly corroded. Needless to say it was not passed. It's started shaking while driving, alignment is off according to tire wear. I've read tons of complaints and see they issues not a recall but a 10 year extended warranty on this issue. Curious as to when this was issued and if my car falls into that.

I am a single disabled mom who was involved in a head on collision on 7/21/2019 in austell GA off veterans memorial hwy. Prior to incident I just got out of a major surgery on my stomach that I was healing from. Acccident happened a week later in process of me healing. My stomach wound opened back due to collision along with other internal and external trauma to my body. I was heading home driving on right side of lane. Heard a very loud honk that startled me. I pressed the brakes. Car started maneuvering to opposite side of hwy. I couldn't understand what was going on since I was steering but it became very difficult for me to do that. As the car was going opposite my direction no moving cars was present besides one in left lane. Im managed to steer my vehicle away from left into right. Car in left lane hit my front end which led to a head on collision. The roadways was clear and weather conditions dry. I became very traumatized from even becausey car was very hard to control and maneuver. I feel that it is a car malfunction that caused my car to go opposite side of road. At the time I didn't know but I felt it was a brake malfunction. Due to my own research, I found out the braking system on these cars had a recall. I wasn't aware of this because I just purchased vehicle from a private owner before my stomach surgery. I didn't drive the since I was in er for 2 weeks. Drove it fully for a week and ended up in a wreck. I am suffering a lot mentally and physically from incident just trying to heal along with cooperating with law enforcement which I haven't obtained a police report from yet till this day. As of right now I have a pending claim with my insurance company. No info from other party insurance company as of yet. Nor do I have representation for my personal injuries. This traumatic event has put more stress and strain on my life physically and mentally.
My car is stuttering/jolting upon putting it in drive & stopping & driving (after stopping @ traffic lights & stop signs). Also, it takes a bit for the car to increase in speed once I'm stopped (@ traffic lights & stop signs) & have to start driving again. This has been noticeable for the past month now.
I was driving down the road every time I shifted gears the front end would just go like wobble wobble so I slow down from 45 to about 10 miles an hour if that I made it home with zagg got underneath there and the sub frame is literally busted the way it sits it looks like it does not have a motor in it anymore if I want to know what to do I would've wrecked if I do not get an answer soon I am going to channel 13 news I have pictures of what it looks like and I'm going to the better business bureau it's a 2008 there is no way that frame should've busted like it did no way I was on city roads.
Left lower control arm and upper cv shaft separated from transmission while entering an on ramp, causing loss of steering and driveability. Could have been deadly had the speed been faster and any closer to the overpass barrier. I had to be towed from the side of the on ramp with the police waiving people around. I couldn't even exit my drivers door due to no traffic clearance. I was essentially a sitting duck on the shoulder of an on ramp, just a few feet shy of the overpass of the highway I had just exited to enter another highway.
I purchased this vehicle knowing of rust but when I climbed under it I seen the subframe is almost rusted all the way through this is a major issue I've heard of a few other Caliber owners who's whole drivetrain fell out of engine bay due to this, this could be a dangerous problem if someone is driving at highway speeds Dodge needs to take action and recall this part and put a better component on the vehicles they produce.
Had creaking noises from front end, as I was inspecting noticed the front crossmember severely rusted with holes. Did a google search and found numerous complaints. Also found a campaign from Dodge stating there was an extended warranty on both the rear and front subframes/cross members. I had already replaced the rear. I contacted Dodge and was told there are no longer any campaigns or recalls that are active for my Caliber. I stated that the front sub frame has rusted beyond its life and my vehicle has less than 145k miles. I also asked if they would provide assistance in its repair as it is a major safety hazard. They replied with, since all warranties are expired and no recalls are in effect, they would not help or provide any assistance with any repairs.
Suspension cross member frame, struts, bushings & sway bar. Took car in for routine oil change. Mechanic inspected car & noticed severe rusting on front cross member. So, bad that my car was not safe to drive. I was told there was a recent recall from Dodge that had expired in 2018. I never saw this recall notice. I did get the airbag recall notice & took my car ro Dodge to fix in spring 2018. They could have fixed the crossmember at that time. The mechanic also had to replace struts, bushing & suspension stabilizer sway bar as a result of the rusted suspension cross member.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Caliber. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds in the rain, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the power steering became inoperable. The battery warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that an unstated computer needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
Subframe rotted away. Causing the drivers side a-arm to rip out. The wheel was at an approximate 90 degree angle from normal position. Caused the driveshaft to pull out of the transmission and the car to immediately stop.
Electrical throttle control light has popped up several times and I've noticed it's when it has rained. When this happens, the car slows down and causes forcefully pull over and shut the car off. It doesn't start after the first few tries and eventually does. The car began to overheat after driving it over 60mph for about 20mins. The car has given me the engine coolant temperature warning symbol when this happens, making an ugly almost screeching sound, slows down the car until I can't push the gas any longer causing me to pull over to turn off the car until it restarts again. The car is beginning to over heat after driving it for a long period of time over 20 mins this will began to happen. I've put coolant recently and not sure if there's a hole in the reservoir but I've done what I could to get this fixed. The car jolts after 3rd gear especially going up hill.
Front and rear cross members as per x58 and revision x59 rusted notice sent July 14th 2014 to have inspected for rust dealership inspected and found no rust reinspected August 23 2018 rust found dealership stated out of extended warranty x58 no goodwill assistance available cause of extended warranty expiration.
I bought a 2007 Dodge Caliber from a young man come to find out he only paid $325 off of a car lot he has a dealers license and he was the only owner before me and did not tell me about the struts, there was a recall on them also has bad sensors ( gas, engine coolant and pcm internal sensors) sold the car knowingly and did not get the recalls done when needed I need something done I have five children and one grandchild who are at risk me driving and having a wreck. I do not have a document about my struts but I have had it looked at by several mechanics.
My daughter was driving our 2011 Caliber back from college on st rt 14. As she went to turn right onto our road, the tire on driver side buckled under. It was later determined that the front crossmember broke. The reason for this was the metal had rusted completely away from defective metal. We were never issued a notice of this potential dangerous defect. No recall was issued only an extension of the cars warranty, which again we were never notified. The damage was extensive, tires were destroyed, front crossmember was replaced, front axleand replaced, lower left control arm replaced, flange head and shaft-axle half replaced. Because this was a warranty issue and not a recall,we had to pay for most of the damage out of pocket. Which had we known about problem we would have had repaired. Upon this happening we have notified everyone we know that own this vehicle. Of the ones that have had there cars inspected all are experiencing the same metal rusting in different stages. This is a recall issue and needs to be addressed. Had my daughter been going the speed limit [70 mph] and this happened my daughter would have been seriously injured or even killed! I am now putting Dodge and you on notice of this defect, so that if just one person gets killed because of this, they have legal recourse.
