37 Suspension problem of the 2010 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 02/03/2022

I forgot to tell you that the control arms on both sides and lower ball joints on both sides went bad because of the rotted frame on the car where the a frame sits is loose because of the rotted frame I grew up at the beach area and we never had rotted frames on any of the cars that we had Dodge should have told people about the rotted frames and they are responsible that's how I feel about it what's it going to take for them to be held accountable people don't need to die or get serious injured because they did nothing about the rotted frames they should have been able to recall the cars they sold and said something about the frames getting rotted.

40 Suspension problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 12/27/2021

I was informed at inspection that the main front cross member has a huge hole in the center of it and is rusting out badly. At 162,356 miles this car will not pass safety inspection. This car is not safe for me or my family. No warning lamps or messages. I was told that one bad bump could do us in. We were told to contact the dealership and found out about the extended warranty that had already passed during the previous owners time. This should have been a recall, but what else can you expect from Dodge.

44 Suspension problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 10/28/2021

Both front and rear subframes have been replaced due to excessive dangerous rust. Also rear trailing arms were replaced due to the same issue. Many other components were replaced as well due to bad bushings. Had to drive the vehicle on the highway to get it home and was lucky to make it. Vehicle did not move after that for almost 2 months until the parts could be replaced. Stalantis received a claim from me in regards to the issues however they were not willing to proceed any further with any actions. These claims need to be looked into because there are quite a few instances that are posted online with videos and or user blogs that are describing similar incidents with Dodge Calibers. Someone is going to get hurt from this rust issue. Not everyone is mechanically inclined and it will only take one incident and someone will get hurt or maybe even kill not to mention other people that are on the road who are innocently driving and other vehicles. Chrysler new this wasn't issue and has failed to take care of it completely. I have spent quite a bit of money to replace these parts as to make my car safe for my child and myself and my girlfriend. There needs to be a final recall just like there was and still is on airbags. You have a dangerous problem that needs to be taken care of. Please force stalantis to recall and or compensate all owners who have these vehicles. I have included three pictures of just the front subframe. I have kept the subframe in the front and the rear and the trailing arms. If pictures are needed please let me know.

46 Suspension problem of the 2009 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 10/06/2021

The front sub frame rusted out and almost killed everyone in the car the wheels turned out and lost all steering was really scary is there any way we can get this fixed by Dodge this should be a recall I’ve looked at 6 Calibers and all of them are rusted out.

47 Suspension problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 10/01/2021

The issue involves front and rear subframes and trailing arms. Bought a used 2007 Dodge Caliber with 127,000 mi on it. Upon further inspection found the front and the rear subframes to be rusted beyond safe operation. After inspecting those found out rear trailing arms are in the exact same condition unsafe for the road. Replaced the front suspension at my cost. Doing the same for the rear. If not done the car is unsafe. High costs involved. No recall was initiated by Chrysler at the time and still has not been done. This is an issue that looks like it has plagued many owners in the united states. If the parts break accidents and injuries can and will occur. Stellantis is ignoring my requests for a reply from the company to address the issues that I am addressing here today.

48 Suspension problem of the 2011 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 08/23/2021

The subframe is completely rusted on the front and rear of the car. This is a known issue with the car as Dodge extended the warranty for the sub-frame by ten years. My issue manifested itself after those ten years but it is an issue that should be addressed with a recall.

51 Suspension problem of the 2011 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 06/22/2021

I just purchased my 16 year old daughter a 2011 Dodge Caliber with approximately 75,000 miles on it. Great shape. She has drove it here and there for 3 months. 2 nights ago while driving she started hearing a noise so we took it to the shop to be told the entire cradle/frame is rusted and not safe to drive. This car has close to the same amount of miles my 2018 car has and clearly has been well taken care of for the entire frame to be rusted. To then be told it’s not safe to drive and I had my newly licensed driver in this car it’s heartbreaking. This is going to cost $1500 to repair on a car with less than 100,000 miles. After hearing about the issue I look online and see a lot of complaints about this same issue on other Calibers of different years and this year as well. Dodge needs to fix this ASAP. This should be a recall. Someone could get hurt or killed and have no clue. The sound isn’t even that loud just sounds like a bald tire so thankfully she did stop and tell me and we took the car some people may not do that.

52 Suspension problem of the 2009 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 06/03/2021

This vehicle has less than 62,000 miles and is currently not operable. This vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle was being driven at the time of failure and had to be towed to a nearby repair shop. Contacted dealer service manager who stated that vehicle has no recalls or extended warranty’s. This incident occurred without any warnings. Please advise!.

53 Suspension problem of the 2011 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 05/29/2021

I was driving my 2011 Dodge Caliber and heard cracking sounds, I was able to pull into a parking lot. My father came over and looked under the car, the subframe is totally rusted out and my tires could have fallen off at anytime. Thank goodness we were not on the highway. The car has only 86,000 miles on it and will take more money than I can afford to fix it. This really needs to be taken care of before someone gets badly hurt or worse! I have seen other complaints about the same issue.

56 Suspension problem of the 2009 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 03/01/2021

During an inspection by my dealer it was noted that the front subframe was rusted through. The car was taken to a different repair shop where it was determined that the rear subframe was also rusted through. It was determined that this was an ongoing issue that the dealership failed to note during previous inspections. Allowing the failure to be pushed out past the time of an extended warranty repair. The corroded subframes allowed more flexure in the sub frames add stress to the bushings and support structures causes the repair cost to multiply. These component failures could lead to a catastrophic failure of the car while driving and should be corrected by the manufacturer.

57 Suspension problem of the 2010 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 01/04/2021

Front subframe is rusted out with visible holes. Manufacturer only extended warranty and did not issue recall. Tons of owners complaining about this as it is listed as front and rear crossmember corrosion (x69 warranty extension) - 2008-2012 Dodge Caliber & Jeep compass/patriot> tons of owners are furious and trying to get help on this serious issue that can easily result in a catastrophic accident and even death.

69 Suspension problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 05/22/2020

While my wife was driving, the front subframe crossmember rusted through, causing her to lose control of the car and she could not safely operate it without repair. I managed to get it to a firestone for them to look at and they referred me to a dealer and told me not to drive it anymore because it is unsafe. This is a problem that Dodge knew about, but failed to notify me about. I only found out about the problem from the dealership, who told me that the extended warranty that covers this problem had expired in 2018 and that I would be responsible for the cost of any repairs. I owned the car during that time and I did not know of this problem, so I could not act on getting it repaired. This never should have been an extended warranty, this should have been a recall because of the potential to kill people when the subframe rusts out. My wife was driving in a parking lot at the time at a relatively low speed, but had this happened on a highway it could have killed her and my son, as well as others on the road. Number: 23-007-17 rev. B group: body date: March 10, 2017.
