Six problems related to cruise control have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Caravan. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving at any speed cruise control will work intermittently. Dealer notified.
Consumer was traveling with cruise control set at 70mph and vehicle started to accelerate up to 80mph & over. Applying brakes & turning switch didn't disengage cruise control. Consumer moved to the shoulder of the road & put the vehicle in neutral, which put in it wide open throttle. Vehicle started smoking & it was turned off. Dealer basically said it wasn't under warranty. Consumer will be contacting manufacturer.
Cruise control failure.
After cruise control is set it will drop a notch from its original setting upon acceleration, then surge back to original setting, this situation is particularly dangerous when it rains as vehicle pulls during the surge.
While engaging cruise control, vehicle suddenly drops from drive o a lower gear and vehicle slows down.
While driving with the cruise control activated the vehicle accelerated. The cruise control would not disengage until the vehicle was put into neutral and the engine cut off. Cause unknown. Please give any further details.
