Two problems related to steering gear box have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Caravan. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The air bag warning light will go out shorthly after engine starts. But then will come on at various times while driving to indicate that there is an air bag failure. I don't know if there is a failure in the air bag system of if there is a failure in the air bag warning light only. Will the air bag work if the light is out as one would expect and not work if the light is on which one would also expect. The indicator light will come on then after a bit go out. Please advise.
Steering column made knocking noise prior to loss of control of steering.
