Tank Mounting problems of the 1996 Dodge Caravan

Three problems related to tank mounting have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Caravan. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2011

The contact owns a 1996 Dodge grand Caravan. The contact stated that fuel was leaking from his tank in large amounts. The vehicle was inspected by a independent mechanic and they advised him that he needed to replace the tank and the fuel pump. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and advised him that the recall was expired and could not assist him. The failure mileage was approximately 151,000. Updated 03/24/lj updated 05/02/11.

2 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2001

There is a fuel smell inside of vehicle. She took it to dealership, and mechanic told her that rollover valve in fuel tank has a problem and it needs it to be replaced.

3 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2000

Consumer took vehicle into dealership for safety recall #845 for fuel tank and o ring to be replaced, a few months later consumer took vehicle back to dealership and stated that fuel is leaking after filling up, and after inspection of the vehicle it was determined that the o-ring that was previously recalled was leaking due to the lock ring and /or 0-ring had not been properly installed correctly on the repair made the previous day.
