Air Bag Light On problems of the 1997 Dodge Caravan - part 1

Air bag light is on and cruise control and horn doesn't work. Consumer states having a recall notice for these problems but delearship refuses to fix because the vehicle is not a 1998 or newer. The consumer's steering wheel is getting worst. Consumer's VIN #'s are not on the recall list, consumer also owns a 2000 Dodge van. Consumer wants to be kept up to date on the progress of the claim.

Air bag light appeared and remained on the dashboard until the vehicle was shut off. Consumer took the vehicle to garage, and mechanic noticed that the clock spring needed replacement.

The cruise control stopped working. Then the air bag light came on. I later realized that the horn doesn't work. I reported this to the dealer service dept. At a nys inspection visit. The vehicle passed inspection. I have had several incidents where I needed to use the horn, and was unable to. This is a serious safety defect.

The vehicles airbag light illuminated continuously and the horn was inoperative. The dealer was notified.

Clock spring replacement / consumer requested reimbursement for repairs. The vehicle was traded to consumer with the airbag light on. Upon diagnosing the problem, the air bag clock spring was broken. . Also the right axle output shaft leaked oil, and the engine light illuminated on the dash board, the dealer replaced the spark plugs.

Dodge Caravan safety issue with the air bag. The air bag light stays on, the horn does not function and the cruise control does not work. My mechanic and the dealer both found this to be a defective clock spring in the steering wheel.

The airbag light came on and never went out. The horn didnt work, cruise control didnt work, and dealer said the airbag would deploy while driving. I have 2 Caravans and the other is a '96 and that one was diagnosed at the dealer for 35 dollars and they told me it needed a new airbag and a clockspring for over $1,000 dollars. Later finding out they lied saying it need the whole airbag in reality it only needed the clockspring, I replace the clockspring on both my vans. The dealer wanted 250 dollars a peice to install it. This is a safety issue. The horn doesnt work and the airbag could deploy at anytime. Mr.

Air bag light on instrument panel has been illuminating/ horn does not function when needed, and cruise control fails to operate. Consumer's airbag light has been intermittently on & off. For past 1 1/2 weeks the light has been staying on. Problem must be affecting horn, it hasn't worked in past month. Dealer wants consumer to cover cost. Consumer doesn't know why it happening only that if in an accident it will not operate correctly. Consumer states everything on steering column is failing including cruise control.
