Front Air Bag problems of the 1997 Dodge Caravan

1 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2005

Consumer complaint regarding 1997 Caravan clock spring assembly. The vehicle's horn failed due to a faulty clockspring. The consumer did some research and found out that the vehicle's clockspring had been recalled, recall number 02v293000 . The consumer never received the notice.

2 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2004

Received a safety recall letter for the clockspring on my minivan (yr714091 notification code d17) issues with airbag deploying light and horn will not work. According to Dodge, the reason this is happening is because of the clockspring in the minivan. Went to have it repaired at Dodge and the service man at Dodge said my minivan does not apply to the recall. Told him why my problems are that described in the recall letter. He said it's not part of the recall.

3 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2004

The consumer requested reimbursement for recall repairs. The consumer was denied because the repairs were not done the dealer. The a/c was inoperative, the cruise control was inoperative and the ses light. Recall# 04v480000.

4 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2003

Nar 04/01/2003. The consumer had the air bag problem fixed on the vehicle on the vehicle prior to the recall because the vehicle was already exhibiting problems.

5 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2003

Prior to the recall notification, the consumer had paid for the repairs regarding the clock spring, the consumer requested reimbursement. In addition, the dealer replaced engine oil filter. . Also the gas filler door had to be replaced.

6 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2002

Air bags not working, horn not working, and cruise control not working. Was told by dealership it was the clockspring. Dt.

7 Front Air Bag problem

While applying brakes air bag deployed, cause injuries to consumer.

8 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2002

Front crash at 25 mph, driver's airbag deployed, passenger airbag exploded. Passenger suffered chemical burns on face. Damage to vehicle unknown at this time.

9 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2002

The vehicles clock spring failed prior to recall notice 02v-293000. The consumer requested reimbursement but only received partial reimbursement.

10 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2002

In a head on collision none of the air bags deployed on impact. Driver sustained major injuries.

11 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2002

Driving down the road at 35 mph when both air bags went off at once. No reason for deployment, no other vehicles or damage involved. Caused miner abrasions to driver and passenger as well as damage by spilled soda of passenger. Also cracked the windshield.

12 Front Air Bag problem

Vehicle was totaled in a frontal crash on driver's side. Neither passenger's or driver's air bag deployed. Consumer sustained multiple injuries. Dealer and manufacturer have been notified.

13 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2001

Vehicle was involed in an accident. Driver's air bag didn't deploy from a frontal impact. Vehicle was totaled. Chrysler representative examined, and stated clock spring wasn't functioning. Consumer will add additional comments.

14 Front Air Bag problem

Consumer hit a pothole and both of the air bags deployed. Consumer and wife were injured.

15 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2001

While driving 5-7 mph, vehicle went over a manhole cover, and both airbags deployed.

16 Front Air Bag problem

Car traveling north bound on 10th avein brooklyn, n. Y. Car proceeded to make a left turn at the intersection of 10th Ave and 76th st. Car proceeded approx. 5-10mph making a left turn on the 76th street, when the car when over a manhole cover. At that time air bags deployed.

17 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/28/1998

There was no deployment of the driver's or passenger's air bags when van was involved in a rear end crash, going about 25-30 mph. Everything from the engine block forward was crushed, including the dip stick. The van has been repaired.

False deployment of air bags when driving over pot hole caused facial injuries.

19 Front Air Bag problem

While driving 35 mph the vehicle was involved in a frontal collision. Upon impact the air bags didn't deploy and the third row seat separated from the track an slid forward. No injuries were reported.

20 Front Air Bag problem

While driving at 35 mph vehicle was in a frontal collision. None of the frontal air bags deployed upon impact. Driver sustained serious lifetime injuries from impacting the steering wheel.

21 Front Air Bag problem

Consumer states while driving 50mph hit a deer with front end and neither air bag deployed, causing injuries. Please provide any additional information. Ts.

22 Front Air Bag problem

Vehicle was broadsided by another vehicle, causing both airbags to deploy, the passenger who is under 5 feet tall experienced damage to the face and eyes because of the violent deployment of the airbag.

23 Front Air Bag problem

Consumer states of having problems with the air bag, horn and cruise control. Dealer was notified. Ts.
