Differential Unit problems of the 2000 Dodge Caravan

1 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2005

The differential drive pin in the 41te model automatic transmission falls out , locking up the front wheels. And stalling motor. Then transmission will blow apart sending pin and fluid gears randomly.

2 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2004

While driving, the vehicle stalled. The consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer for an analysis. The consumer was told the transaxle drive pin had sheared off and had blown completely through the transmission and the housing. The transmission and the differential had to be replaced.

3 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2004

Differential pin broke while driving in a normal manner. Pin went through casing of transmisson , and reuined the transmission which otherwise would be fine. Vehicle only had 75 ,000 miles and always regularly maintained.

4 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2004

While driving the automatic transmission outer case ruptured and the transmission blew out. When this occurred the van stalled without warning. The cause of the transmission failure has not been determined. The differential pin which broke and came out through the case. Service dealer have made diagnostics and repairs on transmission on the vehicle.

5 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2003

Without warning, the transmission began to leak - approximately 1 quart a week - and became difficult to shift. At times it simply failed to go into gear. Upon diagnosis of the leak, I was informed that a differential pin had come loose and began destroying the interior of the differential. $1850 to repair on a 3 year old vehicle. According to the mechanic, this is very common on Chrysler products.

6 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2002

While driving, consumer heard a loud noise and vehicle would not pull. Took to dealer, and dealer indicated differential pin broke in transmission. Chrysler paid for half of the bill.

7 Differential Unit problem

Since transmission failure occurred eight months after warranty expired, dealership wouldn't cover the cost of replacing the transmission. A faulty pin in the differential unit where in manufacturer is aware of. The pin broke and went right through the transmission case.
