The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Caravan. After driving 75 mph, the contact noticed that the tail light lens was missing. The same failure occurred approximately one year ago, but he assumed that it was a case of vandalism. When the contact returned home, he had to replace the entire light assembly on both occasions. On the first occasion, his insurance company covered the cost of the repair. Both the dealer and manufacturer stated that there was no recall; therefore, the contact would have to cover the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was 35,000 and current mileage was 48,000.
: the contact stated while in a rain storm, the driver side taillight filled up with water. The glue the held the taillight in place failed and light fell off due to the weight of the water. The dealership determined the taillight assembly should be replaced. Updated 10/18/2006 - the first rain storm vehicle had ever been in resulted in water accumulating in the taillight. The manufacturer indicated that the replacement would not be covered under warranty because the vehicle had over 36000 miles on it.
The entire light cover panel fell off of my 2005 Dodge Caravan while driving on the interstate. It was glued on, and the heat melted the glue. There are no screws holding this onto the car. I have met two other people with the same problem in the last 2 weeks.
