Failure Date: 04/29/2008

The power door locks suddenly quit working on my 2005 Caravan. After looking at the internet I discovered that this is a common problem with this van and Dodge knows about it. 5 Door Latch problem of the 2005 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 01/25/2008

Power doors ceased to work. Technical advise was requested and it was told to me that a possible upgrade to the bsm would correct this problem. Dealer is charging $180. 00 for this upgrade which in my opinion is a safety issue since children may open these doors or may open as well.

6 Door Latch problem of the 2005 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 11/02/2007

My 2005 Dodge Caravan door locks have stopped working. I took the van to the dealer and they completed a fix that did not last 24 hours but it cost me $100. When we took it back they billed me another $100 to say that I needed the bcm replaced at a cost of $400. In doing my research I see that this most likely would not fix the problem. I feel it is very dangerous the only way to unlock the van is to go to the drivers side where there is a key entry point. God forbid if my family is ever in the car and I can not enter from the drivers side ajd the doors are locked.

8 Door Latch problem of the 2005 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 10/11/2007

My wife, 2 young sons, and I went out to spend the afternoon running errands. When we left our home, the door locks worked with the keyless entry system as well as with the switches inside the car. After making our second stop of the afternoon, my wife noticed that the door locks were no longer functioning. They failed to work via key chain, switch, or speedometer override (when car reaches 20 mph). Compounding the issue, the Caravan only has one outside door lock, which means the car can only be manually unlocked at the driver side door. The remaining doors must be unlocked from the inside. This means that someone must climb throughout the vehicle's interior to let other passengers in. As I mentioned earlier, I have 2 small boys and it is extremely frustrating, not to mention dangerous, to have to leave them standing beside the car while my wife or I climb about the interior to unlock the passenger doors so as to gain access to their car seats. Over the last year, I have taken my vehicle to the dealership to have this same problem addressed on five separate occasions. The longest this problem has remained resolved is thirteen months. Each time the dealership has replaced the body control module. Today will be the sixth occasion I have had the same problem with my door locks.

The door stopped and automatically reopened, crashing into the gas filler door and crushing the gas cap along the side of the van , leaving it dented. I was able to replicate the issue. Luckily , her hand didn't get crushed, and she didn't have gas pumping yet.

18 Door Latch problem of the 1999 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 03/23/2002

A part in the rear latch assembly broke and I was unable to use my rear door until the dealer ordered a new part and installed it. 22 Door Latch problem of the 2001 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 02/17/2001

2001 Dodge gr Caravan has had a problem with the power sliding doors & power liftgate from the very first day I purchased it. Both powered doors & power lift gate will either not open or make the noise of trying to open when using either the keyless remote, inside remotes or my opening & closing manually. Sometimes the doors & liftgate will also kickback as if something is obstructing the pathway. This also ocurrs when using the keyless remote or inside remote buttons. I first learned about a preliminary investigation regarding doors & liftgate opening without warning from my local news station back in December of 2004. I had previously brought my van to the dealership regarding this problem but since they could never duplicate the problem they informed me they could not fix my van. I was finally able to show the dealership the problem when I brought my car in for service back in January 2005. The dealership informed me that there was no recall or investigation but was able to determine that the problem was caused by dtc incomplete power open latch failure, incomplete latch release paw sw failure. I have actual service notation of what the dealership determined to be the problem & how to fix it. The dealership allowed a goodwill service on one door & the power liftgate. They would not & could not fix the other door because they once again could not duplicate the problem although they were able to determine the problem on the other door & liftgate because the problem was duplicated in front of their eyes. I continue to have a problem with the one power door that they were not able to determine to have a problem. I understand there was some preliminary evaluations being done (pe04-054). Has anything been resolved? I would also like to have my information & complaint noted. Please note that the number of ocurrances is even high than noted from below because of the age of the car. Thank you.

Passenger side sliding door has had four failures. 2 latches have been replaced, as well as other components. I have never received paperwork on the last incident. Nor has the dealer called to follow up on the last two attempts at repair. I have contacted Chrysler, but I dont feel that they care. The main problem is that the door would lock, and it could not be unlocked at all. We have electric locks, but they would not work. You also could not open the door manually. I have had this vehicle in 9 times since purchased. 4 for a transmission leak , once for painting, and now 4 times for this dangerous safety condition.
