Equipment Problems of Dodge Caravan - part 2

While driving the van, the vehicle cuts off, steering becomes difficult and the traction control light comes on. I have to restart the car in order to drive. This is very dangerous to have a car to just "shut-off" while driving. This has occurred at least 5 times within the last week. I have been driving on different cities street and once while turning into major traffic. I contacted a Chrysler dealership service department and was told this particular car was not in a recall but this has been an issue for Dodge Caravans for many years from my research.

I was walking back to my running, set in park van, as I walked through the front of my van, and back of another vehicle, I touched my van hood, and my car went forward by itself pinning me between both cars crushing my knees! it went uphill set in park while running in a driveway.

Unexpected shut down while driving on a highway,take foot off gas pedal vehicle stalls out,lose steering control and brakes,it would happen at least 10 times in a 10 mile stretch,took vehicle to Dodge dealer no codes to locate problem ask about ignition module replacement I was told already replaced,they are masking a hazard for that vehicle,please do something for that vehicle before some dies or are serious injured,that problem has happen several times in a week,took vehicle off the road for winter driving.

Horn does not work when pressing the correct area on the steering wheel. Steering wheel lights do not work and heated steering wheel does not work. Fuses check out ok. Horn sounds when locking with key fob or when alarm button on key fob is used. Discovered when another driver turned in front of me without looking and nearly crashed. This is a definite safety problem. Checking the internet there are a number of Chrysler vehicles that have this problem. Vehicle will not pass state inspection in current condition and I am not driving it for safety reasons.

1 push cruise control button 6-12 times to get it on. When car on highway 2 auto door senior is hitting rubber rail guide an stops door from shutting . Sometimes driver side side door hangs up won't open most time when its cold out. Happens in parking lot . Been going off and on since 06 23 2016.

The floor made of thin plastic cover the compartment hide the seats broken if you step inside made a a hole right medile seat , door safty locker it locked down after you drive ?? most Dodge Caravan I tried. Since 1996 the transmition untile now stop shiftting. Control by the computer it. Start mostly after 50 k mile.

Every time I used my vehicle, my key would get stuck forcing me to pull the fuse so the key would release. I got the recall completed on February 18, 2016 to fix the problem. It was working fine until recently (March 24, 2016), my key has been getting stuck several times, not just a one time occurrence, in the ignition again, it eventually releases, and I haven't had to resort to pulling the fuse, I'm just afraid it will eventually lead to that again.

Recall on rear quarter vent window switch. Recall says 30 minute job, but all of the dealers in my area say we have to leave it for one week. Way too long for 30 minute job. Dodge won't send me the switch got 2nd recall notice today.

My 2010 Dodge grand Caravan stalls 5 to 10 times per week. It stalls at any speed and at any time (warm or cold). Since the Dodge dealership could not find the issue (hats off to their ineptitude), after further research, I learned the issue is due to failure of the totally integrated power module (tipm) and affects other Dodge/Chrysler products . See NHTSA action number: dp14004. However, NHTSA stance on this is ¿except insofar as the petitioner's contentions relate to the defect condition addressed by the Chrysler recalls, the factual bases of the petitioner's contentions that any further investigation is necessary are unsupported. In our view, additional investigation is unlikely to result in a finding that a defect related to motor vehicle safety exists or a NHTSA order for the notification and remedy of a safety-related defect as alleged by the petitioner at the conclusion of the requested investigation. Therefore, in view of the need to allocate and prioritize NHTSA's limited resources to best accomplish the agency's safety mission, the petition is denied¿. This will only be resolved when someone dies or the NHTSA takes our ¿contentions¿ seriously.

Every time this vehicle is to be served for smog check renewal, the check engine light becomes an issue. For 2014 I spent money in repairs dealing with a new egr valve. The problem stopped and passed smog check. This year 2016 I am having the same problem. All areas of smog have passed in the smog test except that results show a "not ready " obd ii system. Do this means that every year this van is due for smog check I have to keep buying a new egr valve or spend money in the emission system repairs because the emission system is faulty by making? areas showing as not ready are catalyst, oxygen sensor, egr and or vvtvsystem. We started having issues starting our car in October. Autozone said nothing was wrong. A couple weeks later the battery was dead. We replaced it and $179 later the problem is worse. The key has been stuck in the ignition twice. The mechanical doors stop working halfway through opening or closing every now and then. Googling issues brings up nothing but tipm issues which Chrysler has known about for how long? yet they continue to refuse to issue a recall for their mistake leaving the outrageous amount on us to pay to fix. Are we really waiting for people to start dying because of this faulty issue? the vehicle shuts down in the middle of the road! if you can get it started.

The ignition switch was finally replaced as a result of a recall. Shortly after the replacement we began experiencing a situation in which the van would not start. All we could get was a "clunk" sound from the front of the vehicle. It has a battery that is less than a year old and usually starts fine. The situation exists when we try to use either keys. So far, we have been lucky in that it starts fine after after 8 or more tries; the engine will start and for several days to a couple of weeks things are fine and then the same thing happens again. All electrical systems seem to be operating properly except for the tire pressure light. It, too, has started acting up with about the same frequency. The Dodge service department feels it may be the battery in the pressure sensor valve. Funny that they both started about a month or two after the ignition switch was replaced.

On July 22, 2015 vehicle wouldn't start. Tried jumping nothing. Then it finally started, told my wife to take vehicle home. When I got home tried again, this time it wouldn't start at all. Had vehicle towed to our local mechanic on 7-23-15. On 7-24-15 mechanic called and said the starter module was out and that this item was also on "recall". I knew this and had already contacted a Dodge dealer to have replaced. Now here's the problem, I travel a lot and have my own vehicle. My wife needs this Caravan to go to doctor appointments. Dealer ship telling me they can't get it in due to "back order" of said part. There really needs to be some priority here to get us back on the road. The Caravan is setting at our local mechanic's shop not able to get started. Please check if you can priorities this. Dealer ship is kunes country in sterling, IL.

This is the third time this year I had to replace this hose. Please check to see if the hose is damage or if there is some reason that that I would be replacing this hose so often.

The locks on all doors unlocks and locks by itself when driving. Drivers door panel to control windows works when it wants to.

I received a recall notice for my 2008 Dodge Caravan. "the wireless ignition node (win) on your vehicle may have unintentional movement of the frequency operated button ignition key (fobik) from the "on" to the "accessory" position while driving. This could cause unintended engine shut off and increase the risk of a crash. " over the past month, I have contacted 2 separate dealers as well as Chrysler. There are no parts available for this recall. And there is no projection when these parts will be available. How can there be a recall notice and no parts available? when will these parts be available? is there a penalty that can be inflicted on Chrysler for being unable to rectify this recall?.

Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Dodge grand Caravan. The contact stated that when she went to start her vehicle it was unable to start. The vehicle stalled. The contact stated that there was warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that this was a recurring failure. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was not notified of the failure. The approximate mileage was 93,000. I referred the contact to the manufacturer 800-992-1997 and the ftc 877-382-4357. Kc.

I had the Dodge dealer order parts for recall r03 on June 15, 2015. I called the dealer 3 times and no parts are available. I call Chrysler and got no answer. How can I get this recall done.

Received l25 recall notice for my 2008 Dodge Caravan (wireless ignition node ~ unintentional movement) in early June. Placed 3 calls to local Dodge dealership and they displayed no sense of urgency whatsoever to address this issue. It is clear that, while they boast an excellent sales force, they are not interested in addressing low-yielding recall issues. My last two calls were met with, "OH, your part isn't in yet. We'll give you a call when it arrives. " this goes against the spirit of what is outlined on the recall notice, where the defect is to be remedied in a timely fashion. My pontiac grand am had a similar recall (14350) and it was addressed same day at a local dealership (alan webb Chevrolet of vancouver). My car is now getting its third transmission when I have only owned car for two years. I don't know why my car is rejecting the transmission. Was wondering if there was some kind of recall on this car? this could have killed my three kids and me due to the fact we were on a main road driving and then my car just died without any warning.

My car was recalled and Dodge is not fixing it. The dealer keeps saying that the part is not being sent to them. I recieved the recall notice in November of 2014 and they still have not fixed the car.

I have been having issues with the wireless control module for quite sometime. It came to a head this past Tuesday 3/24 when my vehicle would not start--had to have vehicle towed twice due to issues with control module. This experience the past year has been frustrating. Doors locked by themselves when the car is shut off; there are times when the windows would come down by themselves due to issues with control module. I am unable to use my key even after changing the battery.

Installed a curtis towing hitch and wiring harness for trailer lights, two wiring harness modules for trailer lights have gone bad after only a short time of use, curtis manuf. Says that they are experiencing this problem only with certain Dodge models and seems that mine is one of them. They said that a recall may appear dealing with the ecm and system under the heading of "tipum". I have contacted Dodge about this but they don't reply. This has been on on-going problem for about a year. Curtis manuf. Has replaced the light module unit twice. If the problem is with the car replacing light module isn't going to do a thing except keep going bad. If the problem is with curtis manuf. And they aren't owning up to it, what would be my option to proceed? thank you for any help you can provide. Also the vehicle hasn't had any issues before or now even after having two light modules for the trailer lights have gone bad, with the lights or electronics on vehicle.

What is the status of the l25 recall. Part is still not available. What is taking so long?.

I was driving my Dodge Caravan 2005 on the freeway and the exterior lights kept turning off and the instrument panel where the speedometer is would too. I was scary and dangerous had my three children and pregnant wife with me at the time. We could have been seriously injured.

Original owner of the vehicle. This is actually a report of 5-6 separate incidents of the same issue within a week's span. The engine of the vehicle suddenly shuts off while driving. It is instant and silent, with no pre-warning. Driver loses all power steering / brakes during the occurance. Last incident almost caused an accident when the vehicle's engine stalled and a following vehicle had to take action to avoid a collision. My wife and kids were in the van at the time of the incident. When it happens, the van always starts back up, but it has to be stationary and in-park. Vehicle was taken to the dealership on 01/23/15 for repair. Dealership indicated the egr valve and temperature sensor was faulty and has been a common problem for decades. This is the second temperature sensor that has been replaced by the dealer. Internet search confirms many issues such as this are evident on the road. Repair made 01/23/15 at a consumer cost of $513. 41. Our purchased extended warrnaty covered all of it, but $150. 00. I consider the issue, in regard to a dfmea format to be, loss of function which shall be a severity of 10 and an inverted delta by the manufacturer. I ask that NHTSA investigate this issue as my families well being was at stake this morning which does not sit lightly with me as a husband / father.

I pulled into the gas station and filled up the fuel tank. Tried to start the Dodge grand Caravan and it didn't even try to start. I just put in a new battery before the trip, so I had plenty of electrical power, it was acting like it would if you left it in the drive position. Put it in neutral, same effect, back into park, no luck. Pushed it out of the gas pump area, tried again, no spark. I had to have it towed to the service station.

Door lock system has failed due to computer glitch. From what I have found on-line this problem has been happening for years and should be covered by a recall.

This issue has happen several times as my family is driving along,the engine just dies for no apparent reason. This has happened several time and when the engine dies you loose all power, steering,abs assist with the brakes and it is very hard to turn. This issue ended the other day when my wife was going to school and the engine died on a off ramp on interstate 10 in mississippi. When she got it stopped it restarted but would not move in drive. When she put the van in drive it would die, she put the van in reverse and it backed up fine. Got it off the off-ramp along the side of the road called a tow service and had it towed to a local garage. The transmission had veiled related to the stalling problem that has been reported several times and was written in a news paper. This is a major problem that Dodge has with these van and is related to the failure of the transmission. This issue needs to be fixed by Dodge not the consumer. The power train warranty which was issued by Dodge as long as you are the original owner should cover this issue but Dodge says it does not. Please assist with this issue as the recall should be issued on these transmissions.

I began having trouble with my right front window not rolling down. Then head lights began to flash on and off. I disconnected the battery first negative then positive removed ecm and cleaned all pins on ecm and the socket it plugs into using electronic parts cleaner. I waited for the socket and pins to dry before replacing the ecm and reconnecting the power. Problem resolved itself for a while. Now all problems came back and the battery light came on. Replaced the battery and alternator. The problem went away for a week now all problems came back and vehicle is unable to be driven. I believe there is a problem with the ecm's made for this vehicle. There are many reports of people having the same issues and no recalls. I believe that the ecm is causing many problems since all 3 issues are controlled by the ecm unit.

Recall p25/NHTSA 14v-234 to repair a default in rear quarter vent window switch was to be replaced. He dealership has removed the defected part, but I am being told that Chrysler has not released the correct colored light part. I keep being told that they green light replacement is still on backorder.

As I slowly was turning the car to park in a parking lot in vienna va shopping center, the van suddenly accelerated on its own and stopped when it crashed into handicap parking pole marker ( no damage). Damage to my van which is visable appears to be the front of the hood of the car and a damaged but functioning radiator as best I can see. Note: the air bags were not activeated, and wondered why they didn't. ( is this another problem ?).
