37 Wheel problem of the 2010 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 09/30/2010

When the vehicle had only 12000 miles my front tires were completely bare (like racing slicks). Was taken to 2 dealerships and they looked at the van and found nothing wrong that would cause the tire wear (alignment was fine). I fought and fought with Chrysler to pay for them, which they finally did about 3 weeks after the problem was addressed. Now my vehicle has 15000 miles and while driving all you can hear is noises (almost like road noise but its from the front end). Most likely, wheel barings, ball joint, tie rods etc. On 10/21/11, while pulling out of my driveway low and behold what do you here, nothing but the sound of griding brakes. No sign of brake having a issues the day before when driven. This particular van that I purchased brand new (with 2 miles on it) clearly is a lemon and has faulty parts or something majorly wrong with it. None of these parts of the vehicle should be going at this amout of miles. As always, Chrysler and its' dealers say there is nothing wrong with the it.

40 Wheel problem of the 2005 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 12/22/2004

After starting the vehicle it failed to move when the gas pedal was depressed. This occurred because the rear right wheel was frozen solid and wouldn't spin. The night before it rained followed by below freezing temperatures. Dealership was contacted, but no service person provided any assistance, therefore, consumer used a heat lamp on the frozen wheel brake drum, which defrosted the wheel. Consumer was able to proceed to his destination. Dealership denied that this occurred, although other Dodge Caravan owner complaint about the same issue.

42 Wheel problem of the 1997 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 01/24/2003

On the date given, my 19 year old daughter was driving on a secondary road in the town of peru, NY, when the right front (factory option) cast aluminum wheel split in two circumfrentially, pulling her violently into a snowbank. There was no prior indication of the failure, and the vehicle had never been abused or involved in any accident or incident. The vehicle is a 1997 Dodge grand Caravan LS, and the wheel in question is the factory optional aluminum cast item. We filed a complaint with the dealer and the manufacturer, and were told that there was nothing that can be done and that the failure was our fault. There was no previous damage to the wheel, it had never been abused, there was no air leakage over time to indicate a crack or fault, the temperature at the time was approximately 10 degrees f. , and there was no obstacle in the road which could have contributed to the incident. The wheel simply brok into two pieces. We feel that your organization should be made aware of this possible defect since sudden and unexpected failure of such a vital piece of vehicle equipment could obviously prove fatal. If this had occurred on an interstate at highway speeds, or if the left front wheel had failed, pulling the vehicle into oncoming traffic, the possible results are obvious. Please feel free to contact myself or my wife at any time concerning this matter, and we are curious to know if you have received any other complaints of this nature. Thank you for your time and assistance.
