3 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 12/12/2019

I was driving my car like normal for the past 2/12 years. It's a 2013 Challenger 5. 70. My car went dead while driving. I lost control of the car, but, thank god I didn't hit anything or anyone. I ran tests on my car battery, it's good. Interesting note: I had the alternator replace six months ago on a factory recall. The Dodge dealer told me it's not the alternator, though replaced it anyway. They said it's the power steering pump and electric problem due to a wire not communicating to the bus or computer. (don't know what that means I'm not a car guy) however, I also own a 2006 Chrysler 300 that did the same thing to me on the freeway while I was driving 70 mph. Could have died both times. At this point, I don't know it Dodge is simply making cheap parts or Dodge service is trying to turn a 2nd alternator replacement into a profit. I say this because I was able to disconnect the batter, then reconnect it to pull forward on the tow truck now they are telling me the car dies when they reassemble it. I also say this because they are telling me the pump is damaged yet I'v had work done there before with no indication of a problem. I've had work and repairs done including smog checks within the last year with no negative readings indicating a problem or miscommunication. I see recalls on the electric system, power steering pump and alternator yet none based on my VIN. Meanwhile browning Dodge wants to charge me $1800 bucks.

4 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 10/04/2019

The car was parked and not on. When the key fob was hit to unlock the car the panel between the windshield and passenger door caught on fire. This also caused the sunroof to jar open.

5 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 10/02/2019

The brake antilock wheel speed sensors on the front wheels locked into skid mode and my car would not go over 4 miles an hour. When I left the dealership and pulled out on to the main road I could not go over 4 miles an hour. I was almost rear ended since the speed limit on the road was 40 mph. I was told the sensors were bad and needed to be replaced. When I limped the car back into the dealership, they told me that they could not get the car out of that mode until they replaced the sensors. The car only has 7200 miles on it.

6 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 09/09/2019

I initially got my alternator changed by my own mechanic before there was any recall on the alternator. Then some time last year 2018 I took my car in for the recall on the air bags. While my car was at Dodge they notified me that the recall on my alternator still hadn't been cleared since I never changed it with Dodge so I was like what the heck why not just get a brand new one through Dodge this time while they're repairing whatever needed to be done with my air bags. Fast forward to July of 2019 I took my car in to Dodge dealership for some shaking while my foot was on the break and for the gears not properly shifting. My rpms were going way too high before the next gear would shift. Service at dealership claimed to fix the issue but I was back a week later because my check engine light came back on. After leaving it there another several days they said they found the actual issue so now I shouldn't be having any problems. ( something was misfiring , a coil was changed etc. ) now sept of 2019 my car decided to stop on me while driving on the freeway almost killing me. My entire dashboard went crazy check engine light went off, air bags light, steering wheel , no key fob detected all while loosing power. Thankfully I made it off the exist with just enough power to get to a gas station right off the freeway before my car completely turned off on me. I took the battery to get checked it was completely dead, recharged it car started fine then went back to doing the exact same thing with warning signs all over the dashboard and leaving me again. I bought a brand new battery and still wont turn on. Being that I experienced something similar the first time my alternator went out I am pretty sure this is the same exact thing. I have had nothing but issues with this car since I got it will be taking it back to dealer but I no longer feel comfortable driving this vehicle.

I walked over to sales department and another's employee asked me why I needed to speak with him. I told him it's regarding a situation that happened on Saturday and I was willing to wait on eddie (y) if he isn't not available at the moment. The sales associate told me he wasn't going to text eddie and let him know. However, he then proceeded to tell me that eddie probably is in a meeting or something. I told him okay and I walked back over to express lane and asked david (x) if I could speak with eddie and that I was willing to wait. David was not helpful at all . 11 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 07/09/2018

Abs and traction control light came on after starting the car. A few days later, the lights are still on but is making a loud clicking sound when making tight right turns. Day after the clicking, the check engine light came on while driving 45 mph. The car was still on but with no acceleration. Pressing on the gas peddle would rev the engine with no progress. I stopped the car, turned it off and checked my fluids under the hood. All looked fine. After restarting the car, it would run then lose acceleration again. Car then became unresponsive and towed to the dealer. The dealer has had the car for 2 days and still don't know what is wrong. Service adviser said the car is not "communicating. " I am currently paying for a rental out of pocket. Fca said there are no recalls based on my VIN. Based on my research, it sounds like the p60/alternator recall.

12 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 05/04/2018

I was in the city of old san juan, in motion driving down a two lane street. I was in a straight way I had been pressing the brake down to 55 miles approaching a a slight curve ( not even hard, the curve only deviated few feet to a right and then a couple feet to left, in pr traveling to the in the historical area there is a cement like structure no more than 10 inches serving as a barrier between the two car lanes and the bicycle path). At that moment I lost control of the vehicle, brakes felt weird completely pressing them down, in motion. When I slightly pump the brake again going toward a full press the brake and wheels didn't respond. I tried getting control and as I left the last corner and steer I lost control hitting the barrier. My front tire went off!! rolled down hill. After that my car got scratch at the bottom driving on my brake pad. I bought the car the same day!!!!! I can't stress enough the situation. I used to drive older models and I've never had this encounter. The street that it happen was asphalt. The dealer and bank I got my loan, denied my civil code rights, had to go through the insurance. I didn't sign the document stating I gave the rights to the car. The dealer independent Dodge dealer took back the car and never compensated me nor dealt with me again. They never gave me an alternate vehicle for my trouble while I fixed the problem. They never called back! I tried getting a good lawyer but after they tested what happen in the black box they got to the conclusion I was 40 mph, 5 seconds, prior to the moment the incident took place, so I wasn't going that fast pushing my brakes losing control from the left lane towards the concrete I couldn't get a lawyer in puerto rico. I felt they stole my hard earned money, $5,000 I paid upfront, plus the loan and plus the insurance money and the lawyer I had to pay for the aggravation.

13 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 12/18/2017

I have a 2014 Dodge Challenger. I was driving and made a left hand turn and then my abs came on and now I cant use my cruse control and I cant turn the traction control off or on . Call Dodge and they are telling me it is a clock spring in the steering column and the price is $589. 00 and the labor will be about $300. 00. I think that's is a bad part to put in a car.

14 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 09/03/2017

My 2010 Dodge Challenger srt8 completely shuts down while driving for no apparent reason. The engine turns off and I lose power steering. It does this repeatedly while driving at all speeds. All electrical components work when this happens but the power steering makes it very hard to turn the vehicle which makes it very dangerous in traffic or on the highway. I have to put the vehicle in park press my ignition start button to turn the car completely to the off position and restart the vehicle. There are no check engine lights that illuminate after this happens so the Dodge dealer does not know what the problem is. The last time this happened my abs and traction control light has illuminated and my esp, traction control and anti lock brake system was disabled and hasn't been enabled. After starting the car the esp, tc and abs light illuminate and stay on. I have taken my vehicle to the Dodge dealer three times and they have said that they are not able to find the problem because there are no trouble codes or a check engine light on. I have read online that this is a very common issue that thousands of owners of Dodge Challengers are experiencing with the same result that the Dodge service departments can not find or duplicate the problem. This random engine shut off has happened around 40 times. It's happened on the highway in motion at speeds of 75 mph on the city street from 30-50 mph and when leaving an intersection after the stop light turns green leaving me stopped in the middle of the intersection in danger of bieng hit by oncoming traffic. It has also happened while turning in a intersection and the vehicle stopping with oncoming traffic heading towards my vehicle. I have nearly been hit numerous times due to this problem. I have proof of my vehicle taken to the dealer to resolve this issue with no luck as to what the dangerous problem is.

15 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 07/06/2017

4 July 2017, while driving at highway speeds, vehicle fault indicators showing problem with stability control system, abs system, and disabled cruise control. Faults cleared approximately 30 seconds later. 5 July 2017, vehicle again displayed same faults, however, faults remained latched (did not self clear). I contacted local dealership for service, fault was diagnosed on 6 July 2017 as a failed right front wheel speed sensor. Service department placed needed part on order, returned keys to me and arrangements were made to bring vehicle back to dealership for repair on 7 July 2017. While continuing on to place of work, faults returned, then cleared. At the end of day, 6 July, was approaching a stop sign at normal approach speeds and applied brakes. Front brakes initially operated as normal, then within a second or so, lost brake pressure. . . I felt the abs system release the brakes, causing me to exert enormous pressure on the brake pedal within a few feet of the stop sign to get the vehicle stopped from only a few mph. Oncoming traffic was 55 mph. After the vehicle stopped (barely). . Then the same faults appeared. From my point of view, the intermittent wheel speed sensor caused the front abs system to activate on a dry road, essentially disabling my front brakes while in the process of braking. This is not an expected failure mode. I understand onboard diagnostics indicating the problems above, however, it appears that if this problem takes place while braking, brake performance is compromised. This is now the second wheel speed sensor to be replaced in the last 6 months or so. From my perspective, that means that this is a high failure rate item (last one was on the right rear wheel), and if it happens while braking. . . I essentially lose braking at the precise moment brakes are needed. I consider this a design issue. Redundant sensors recommended for abs.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 03/04/2017

As I was driving on the free way, I noticed my check engine light came on. At first I thought it may have been a minute issue. However, my car started jerking, declining speed ,and became hesitate to continue motion as if the power of my car was about to stop. After ten minutes the engine light went off as I continued to drive the car at a reducing speed. However, the light came back on and the symptoms continued again. At this time I'm very concerned that my car needs to be on the recall as this is a serious issue. My light is still on as of 3/6/2017.

22 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 03/22/2016

I have been trying to get a safety recall repaired on my Dodge Challenger's alternator for the last four months from south pointe Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge located on 9240 s memorial dr, tulsa, ok 74133. I've called the dealership on five different occasions each time no information can be given to me on why my recall isn't being repaired or how long it will take. The last time I called on 6/22/16 I had to leave a message with the service manager, that has still not returned my call. I'm getting the run around at this dealership and feel as if my safety and the safety of others is not important to them. I would think something as serious as my alternator failing causing my vehicle to shutdown while I'm driving or an under hood electrical fire would be of concern but apparently it isn't to south pointe. Please help me get this recall repaired before someone is seriously injured due to the rapid alternator failure that I may experience with my vehicle.

23 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 02/27/2016

Driving and the power surged, all lights came on, none of my gauges worked and steering felt extremely loose. Have been waiting since last summer to get this fixed l. And now two months since it finally went south and have still been waiting. Wonderful job by the company.

25 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 09/10/2015

Alternator died suddenly out of the blue while driving. A loud whistling noise started coming out of the hood which got progressively worse, and then the engine light started flashing. Online there are reports of many alternators dying prematurely in this model of Dodge Challenger.

26 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 02/04/2015

When I was driving my music cut off and then my brake light and other lights such as the ones that come on when you initially start the car. They stayed on for about 2 minutes or so then the whole dashboard went off and then the whole vehicle shutdown.

27 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 01/15/2015

Just got through an intersection instrument panel all lights started flashing then car shut down could not steer had no hazard lights nothing it is part of a Chrysler recall was a very dangerous situation it was dark my car is black and I had no way of letting traffic know I was there if I had a flare in the trunk I couldn't get to it as latch is electrical and so it didn't work. I had it towed to the dealer who said he couldn't help me for weeks and no courtesy car was available to me and if it was a recall it cold not be fixed because there is no fix for the recall yet they are supposed to give me priority service after speaking with the recall center but I am to pay all charges and then try to get reimbursed from Chrysler. The Chrysler care center said they would pay for the new alternator but not the rental or diagnostic charge and that the shutdown could happen again, until they can come up with a fix for the alternator issue recall p60 this was a very dangerous situation because of a faulty manufactured part I don't feel I should have to incur any expense or be forced to drive an unsafe car I bought the car in good faith and I expected it to be safe. My car was not looked at today as promised hopefully tomorrow I did not receive any call back from the dealer. I think its criminal that owners of these vehicles are expected to drive them until they can get to fixing the part had I been on the freeway in 70 mph traffic I doubt I would be here to write this complaint. Several cars and semi trucks came very clos to hitting my car until a state trooper could get there to provide flashing lights while waiting for the tow truck. I had no warning the car just completely shut down.

28 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 12/30/2014

I nearly was killed today getting off highway I-10 when my entire car shut down. The entire electrical system failed abs, esp, bas, traction lighting all came on - power steering did not work- completely shut down with no recourse finally coasted to park in the garage close by on a downhill exit. I was fortunate enough to find an exit to the parking lot and literally coasted in without power steering or any electrical and was afraid the brakes would not work to even stop the car. Fortunately, it coasted and stopped. Previously received an alternator recall notice from Dodge, but was told they did not have any parts available to fix this vehicle. I had no idea that meant my entire car would die on the highway without the ability to even steer.

29 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 12/05/2014

While drivivg on my way home doing about 60mph in the right lane on the expressway and the car completely shutdown, the engine light came on, I couldn't even steer the car, the steering wheel locked up no breaking capeability, had to let the car coast into the emergency lane, luckly there weren't any cars in front or behaind me. Which could have been fatal. While in the emergency lane put the car in park turned off ther ignition, turned on the ignition put the car in drive and the car would move, put it back in park turned the ignition off again, started it again put in drive.

31 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Dodge Challenger

Was driving home when the battery light appeared then the abs and traction control lights started flashing. I got home turned the car off and was not able to start it again. Took the battery in for recharge and then took the car to the auto parts store and test the alternator. The alternator went bad.

32 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 09/25/2014

I had observed a whining sound for several weeks before the incident. It was like a power steering pump without any fluid in it. I tried to listen under the hood to locate the sound but it seemed like it was coming from low in the engine bay on the left side, looking at it. My wife left for work and as she pulled off, the noise was very loud and worse than before. I hoped she was going to be alright and make it to work. She called me just as she was getting to work, when the vehicle abs and traction control indicators lit up along with a constant alarm chime. She was able to park and call me. I left home to go there. I started the car up when I got there and all was normal until I started to take it to the dealer. On the way, there was an intermittent alarm chime. I rolled down the windows during the ride to listen for noises. As I approached the dealer and parked, the abs and traction control lamp lit up as well as some chiming. I tried pushing the traction control switch with no result. I tried to roll up the windows but they would not work. As I was getting ready to shut the car off, the engine died. The service tech was right there and asked what happened. I said I had an electrical problem. He checked me in and and got the tablet out to read the error log in the car. He said I had an alternator failure. When they checked the car in and were trying to move it, the battery had died and they jumped it to get it going. I asked about another noise and said it was the water pump.

33 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 07/14/2014

Have a 2010 Dodge Challenger with less than 40,000 miles. Took car to shop at Dodge dealership due to the fact that my check engine light was on (at 38,000 miles). After not diagnosing my car correctly on 3 separate occasions, they finally "determined" that the car needed a new power module, and several engine sensors were faulty and not working.

34 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 05/30/2014

On may 30th I was heading home after a log days work when I noticed that the battery light had turned on, thinking it was just the battery needing to be recharged I kept driving. Minutes after the check engine(mil), brake (parking brake?), abs, esp bas, traction control lights came on and guess what happens next!? I lose my ability to steer and brake my vehicle going 60 on the highway! luckily I lived 8min away from my place at the time and managed to get to my home with no power steering on braking ability! so I went to autozone and bought myself a battery because it was tested as a bad battery it was installed on my car & it turned on as normal, until I actually drove my car to school the following morning, set it on park & smoke started coming out of my alternator. Knowing how much a alternator for my car costs I saved enough money to buy a aftermarket alternator so I went to autozone to buy one and the gentlemen told me that it gives him the option to order one but when he does they dont have any because since the car is new the only I could get is the manufactured alternator which they sell for $545 and are on back order!? really Dodge really? it took me a month to set aside money for what I thought I could buy a alternator and come to find out you're the only ones that sell it, shame on you guys! I'm father a hard worker and a student at uti and you guys dont allow anyone to sell your alternators. Doesnt make any sense being that you're on back order. This coudlve ended way worse when I was on the highway. If you're reading this and have the same proble, please submit a complaint as they will eventaully see a trend about this and hopefully recall these bad alternators that denso manufactures.

35 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 04/19/2014

While driving about 45mph abs, eap/bas and traction control lights came on. Parked car and would not start. No power. Towed to Dodge dealership and after 2 days reported needed new battery after old battery would not keep charge. One day after got vehicle from dealer, drove vehicle battery light came on, drove to dealer service turned off vehicle and turned on again but light did not come on. Tech checked battery connection, was ok and tried to drive home. Drove vehicle 3 miles battery light, abs, eap/bas and traction lights came on again, idled rogh then dash went dark and car killed, steering locked. Got relative to put another battery in to drive vehicle to dealership. Is there now awaiting diagnosis but all things point to bad alternator. Vehicle 3weeks out of warranty with 31000 miles. The charger has had issues with alternator & have seen a few Challengers complaint on other sites. I did like my car but this appears to be a manufacturer defect with alternators, only 31000 miles and gone bad.
