3 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2013 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 12/03/2017

Smart glass draining battery, takata inflator recall, timing chain recall and alternator recall in Dec 2017 my Dodge Challenger 13 ran out of battery & was towed to a repair shop. There were 2 recalls, one being an alternator, causing the battery to drain and not able to be jumped. After 1. 5 months of talking to Chrysler fca recalls about how to get the recall work complete, my car arrived at covert Dodge in austin in Jan 2018 (I paid for tow out of pocket). From Dec to Mar 20th, I was without a car and covert /fca would not put me in a rental while waiting on back ordered parts. On Mar 20th, they put me in a rental vehicle. Apr 20th fca called to tell 1) all 3 recalls have been addressed 2) the Smart glass window module, which is actually what is causing the battery to drain, is still on backorder (eta may 29, but not a firm eta and this part has been on backorder since Jan) but the car can be driven without operable windows, 3) I need to return the rental in 2 days and pick up my car. I stated that it is unsafe to drive a car with inoperable windows (getting pulled over and having to open my door to talk to the police, extremely hot weather in texas and not being able to open the windows, little kids and car sickness, unable to use drive-through anything, etc). The service manager stated that he can't comment on safety, but the car is drivable. The case manager at fca said that she can only address safety concerns in bulletins from fca. The Smart glass window module has been on back order for me since Jan 2018 and no confirmed eta. This part has been recalled on 2012 and 2011 Challenger and multiple other mopar part cars. There is a long list of people waiting for this part (probably 1000s), many due to a recall. In the meantime, I'm expected to use my car without working windows - meaning windows have to be closed and can not open.

6 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2012 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 02/13/2017

Hello, I purchased a 2012 Dodge Challenger sxt from clovis Chrysler Dodge August 2013. Since that time, I have had the alternator, which is on recall be replaced by clovis Dodge in February of 2015 as well as February of 2017. I attempted to trade-in my vehicle on 02/13/17, but the dealership made me aware that there was another recall for my vehicle for the front passenger airbag inflator, NHTSA recall #16v-352: takata recall. The dealership advised me that they do not take recall vehicles as a trade in. My vehicle continues to have electrical problems and now I am in a position where I cannot trade in my vehicle . I am trying to get a new vehicle due to having a baby on the way and now this car puts me into a position to where I spend thousands of dollars to fix it when I need to get rid of it, or I just keep it and wait for it to continue to break down. I'm not sure what else to do.

8 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2010 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 07/27/2016

Takata recall. My car is fine but I have been waiting 7 months for recall parts to replace my airbag inflator. R37/NHTSA 15v-444. Fiat chrylser America's recall assistance center (18008531403) is just an answering service with no actual information about availability of parts and about limits to how many parts a dealer can order. But the representative mark from the recall assistance center says parts are available to be ordered. My local dealer, nyle maxwell supercenter, says that fiat Chrysler only allows them to order 10 at a time, and the 10 parts they have on hand are already scheduled to be used for other people's vehicles. There's no way to find out why fiat Chrysler only allows them to order 10 at a time, and nyle maxwell supercenter claims there's no way to special order the part that I need, despite the fact that the part is available.

9 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2010 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

Takata recall (s43 - 16v-352, July 1, 2016) - "the front passenger airbag inflator housing may rupture while deploying during a crash. The potential for such ruptures may occur in some of the subject airbag inflators after several years of exposure to persistent conditions of high absolute humidity and/or heat aging. In the event of a front passenger airbag inflator rupture, metal fragment(s) could pass through the airbag cushion material, which may result in additional injury or death to vehicle occupants. " I own a 2010 Dodge Challenger and am still waiting to have this recall fixed. There was a similar recall on this vehicle July 14, 2015 (r37 / 15v-444) -"the driver airbag inflator housing in your vehicle may rupture, due to excessive internal pressure, during normal airbag deployment events. This condition is more likely to occur if your vehicle has been exposed to high levels of absolute humidity for extended periods of time. The inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death. " an inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death. This is my only vehicle that I use to transport my teenager and toddler. I am at risk every day when I am driving my vehicle. Knowing that this serious problem exists and cannot be fixed is extremely unsettling. How many more injuries and deaths is it going to take before action is taken???.

11 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2009 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 03/23/2016

This vehicle was in perfect operational conditions prior to the repairs regarding the takata inflators. Immediately following this repair, I have replaced the battery on two separate occasions. A completely charged battery will discharge overnight. After a complete diagnostic evaluation by Dodge dealership, they found no problems with vehicle. In the 12-days following this diagnostic, I have charged the battery twice. I am really concerned that an electrical defect, as a result of the dealership repairs, may contribute to an electrical fire or a possible explosive concern. I am concerned for the safety of my self, as well as my family. This has been an on-going concern for approximately 6-months.

15 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2009 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

We haven't had a specific incident but several months ago we were sent a recall notification on the Dodge Challenger stating that "the driver airbag inflator housing in your vehicle may rupture, due to excessive or internal pressure, during normal airbag deployment events. This condition is more likely to occur if your vehicle has been exposed to high levels of absolute humidity. . . " we have contacted fiat Chrysler automobiles and a local Dodge dealership and they are both refusing to fix the problem and have no other solutions. It is my understanding that when a recall is issued the manufacturer is required to provide a solution - either fixing the problem or buying back the vehicle. This is clearly a major safety concern, we live in texas so the humidity statement definitely applies and with no fix we're not able to drive the vehicle now so something needs to be done. Dodge needs to figure out how to fix the problem or start buying back vehicles. We need to be driving a safe vehicle, we have an infant and we can't afford to just park that car while Dodge twiddles it's fingers.
