3 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

My 2006 Dodge Charger transmission shifter is stuck on the park position. When I contacted Chrysler in regards to their customer satisfaction notification k39 transmission shifter interlock lever recall they stated that my car was not in recall but on the notification it states 2005 - 2007 Dodge Chargers where on recall for the shifter inter lock being stuck on the park position. I was told that only certain VIN numbers where on recall & that although my car is experiencing the same problem with the same part its not on recall, but if my car was in that same time frame, has the same parts & is experiencing the same problem as the others that where on recall why is my car not on that recall & why I cannot get my car repaired?.

I bought my 2006 Dodge Charger 3. 5l v6 new in may 2006. I absolutely loved this car until summer of 2009 just after my warranty expired, my gear shifter stuck in the park position and had to have it towed. I called Dodge to see if there was a recall on this problem after reading about so many other people that had same issue. Was told no, I paid to have it fixed somewhere around $450-500. On Monday I had to have my car towed because it broke down on my way home from work. It sounded like the car was going to explode like in a cartoon. It was making knocking noises and sounded like a diesel truck. Mechanic told me that my engine was shot. How could this be? my car has 67,716 miles on it!!! very low mileage for a 2006 vehicle. Called Dodge and asked if there was a recall on the engine problem. I read of many, many other people having this same issue. No recall, but if I can have it towed to an approved Dodge dealer and get a diagnosis from their mechanic, call back. I was given a claim # from Dodge hq. I have an insurance adjuster going out tomorrow morning to assess the damage and the problem. I am furious! I spent a lot of money on this car and it should last more than 67k miles! update from Aug 5, 2014 update: 8/5/14 insurance told me that it is a known common issue with the Dodge Charger and because of this, there are not many recycled engines available or if they are found, it might have same issue as mine did. Adjuster said that it was a pressure leak that only happens while driving causing the filter to expand and oil to leak. My engine is beyond repair! I called Dodge hq again and was told that there are no recalls on my vehicle after checking my VIN#. Also told me they will not help me. They told me I can file a complaint with ntsha. Meanwhile I am taking the bus. Not a happy camper!.

5 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2013

Drove to a business and once placed in park, the gear shift became stuck. Called aaa, they were going to tow it, then another driver showed up for aaa and knew just what to do. He takes apart the case that goes around the gear shift and presses on a pink colored emergency park release lever, ( why is that even an option??!!! ) it was obviously not attached to any thing as it fell down into the space around the shifter and still resides there. The discussion of towing it came up again, then we noticed a cable attached to the shifter and after playing with it have developed a system to unlatch it from park. You have to pull the cable to the left with a pen to disable the gear shift. Today I took it to where I bought it and they told me there was a recall on this and to take it to the Dodge dealership. The Dodge dealership knew just what I was talking about, but denies a recall on this. I am scheduled to have it fixed Monday the 12th. I dont feel I should have to keep paying for faulty equipment, this car has been a disaster since I bought it. The front end has been fixed about 4 times for vigourously shaking and a god awful rattling noise ( goes away for a short time then returns shortly after being fixed!!), numerous tires have been bought because that must be the problem too ( out of the mouths of the dealership), the tire pressure light stays on, the abs light system malfunctions and has left me with a no brake sensation on multiple occasions. I have always owned Dodges, but next time I purchase a vehicle it wont be a Dodge.

6 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2013

I had some issues with my car stalling and getting stuck in gear, I was told by a mechanic to change the strainer which was supposed to be done there at his shop along with some body work. After getting my car back I drove it maybe 2 days before it completely just stopped going into gear. I can crank it up but the car will not budge. Now today 5/12/2013 my brother showed me a button that is in the gear shift that you can push to get it out of gear. So I guess the problem is that the button that is supposed to pushed this in when you push the brakes down is no longer working. I was thinking transmission and that is not my problem.

7 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

The shifter selector is stuck in the "park" position. A small plastic part breaks underneath the shift selector causing the malfunction. This is a common problem on Chrysler 300, Dodge magnum, and Charger. A recall was issued only on some 2005-2007 models. It is the same problem for all of these cars yet why is only some vins covered? there is various aftermake replacements made of metal as the original should have been since it is a vital component. This is a flawed design made of week material. This should be repaired free of charge, but Dodge doesn't want to take care of this problem. ## VIN passed ## Dodge Charger srt8 2006 ##.

9 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2012

On Feb. 27th, 2012, I started my car in an attempt to drive to work. The car started up fine. I tried to shift from the park position to reverse, but the car would not shift into any other gear - it was stuck on park. I followed the instructions in the manual which advised to press the override switch located in the compartment near the shifter. This did not work. Instead, I had to tow my car to the nearest auto repair shop and was presented with a bill of $456 for parts and labor to repair the shifter. Apparently, this is happening with many Dodge Chargers, yet a recall on this has not been issued. I did some research and there is a forum where people who have experienced this issue complain of the same things. This needs to be addressed immediately and Dodge needs to be held responsible. .
