Could not move the gear selector out of park. Forced it into reverse then into drive went on my way,its been several months and working just fine. No repairs needed. I hope I won't need to do that again,if it does happen again I might take it to the dealer or risk braking the dam thing.
While driving south on lakeshore drive in chicago, my car engine shut off on me. I was able to pull over to the shoulder without incident. I put the car in park and it immediately started again. When the engine stopped there was no warning, no indicator lights on the dashboard or anything else. This has happened no fewer than 25 times over the past year, including five times in the last week. Most of the incidents occurred during the spring/summer months. I've taken my vehicle to several different mechanics and explained the problem to them. None of them have been able to detect what is wrong.
Transmission went on my car at 54000 miles it's died in middle of the intersection while I was driving.
There was no sign that there was any problems with my car. I got in the vehicle, started the ignition, and was not able to shift the gear from park to reverse. I had a local towing company come and pick up the car, and they took it to a local mechanic. The tower said there's been recalls on the column shifter for the Dodge Chargers. After the mechanic looked at the car, he said that yes it was the column shifter and it would need to be replaced. It will cost $380. 35 to have it all replaced. Since I didn't do anything to damage the car, and there's a recall on the particular item that is being replaced I don't see why I shouldn't be able to have some form of reimbursement sent to me.
