The car was stopped at red light and when I attempted to make a turn the car suddenly died. After putting the car into park and restarting the engine came back on.
Ignition modulator switch shut the car completly down as the was coming to a stop this part attaches into the computer and can go at anytime even when driving. Chrysler has a major back order on this part and has no idea when they can get the part to the dealerships to correct the issue. There are over 1000 vehicles currently with issue across the USA. I have checked with dealerships from NJ as far as mo after they check the database in the parts department I get the same answer no part in stock.
1. There is a lightbolt light that lights up and flashes on my dashboard the instant when I turn on my vehicle for the first time in the day. I have to wait for the engine to heat up a little before I turn it off and restart it again. 2. As I drive and go on the highway or at anytime that my rpm reaches 3, the lightbolt light flashes again and I loose power in the engine. The car slows down on its own down to at least 45 mph, if I go over a bump during this cycle, the vtc light on dashboard lights up and the car feels unstable as I press on the brakes. I pull over to the emergency lane and restart the car and the light shuts off. Eventually, if the lightbolt continues to flash and I am still driving the vehicle starts to choke and eventually shuts off.
Everytime I check my oil there is never any oil in there. I am constantly having to put oil in my car. The other night I was driving and my car just started shaking. The air and heat stopped working. I took my car to the shop and they said I needed a tune up and that my #2 spark plug had blown. I then had the tune up and #2 spark plug changed and my car still is not running right. I took it to another mehcanic who basically laughed at me and told me the 2. 7 enginge were horrible. He told me I had oil sludge and that I might as well not even bother getting my car fixed. I haven't even had this car a year yet. Dodge needs to replace all 2. 7 enginges.
Im submitting this statement for everyone that has had the unfortunate pleasure of owning a Dodge vehicle. About a month and a half ago I ws driving on the freeway and my 2008 Dodge Charger just died on me. I had it towed to the dealership and they told me that I needed a new engine as a result of oil sludge buildup. I submitted all my maintenance records showing that I was getting my maintenance done and they came back denying my warranty claim. I feel like Chrysler is just a big rip-off with their warranties cause its funny the service lady told me that it was no oil showing on the dipstick and I had my mechanic to look at my car a day before ihad it towed to the dealership and it was 3qts in there so something sounds fishy to me. Ive been researching this issue and im not alone and they really need to check into this problem but its very convienent for them to deny havng to replace their defective engines. I have 2 Dodge Chargers and will be getting rid of both ASAP.
There seems to be a widespread issue with Dodge Chargers (2006 - present). When accelerating and pressing the gas pedal a "whistle" sound can be heard coming from the powertrain / engine section. The sound only occurs during steady acceleration between 40 - 65 mph. If the gas pedal is released or pressed harder the sound goes away. Many Charger owners have reported this issue on their vehicles (se, se+, srt, r/t, etc. . ) but the service centers at the dealerships have yet to determine the cause and there is no fix for this yet. This could be affecting thousands of Charger vehicles and needs to be investigated.
