Both low headlights went out while driving at night. I have changed the bulbs out multiple times and the continue to blow out.
The low beam left front headlight keeps going out every few months. It burns out and when I replace the bulb the harness looks hot and frayed. I keep loosing visibility while driving at night. Dodge stated I need a new headlamp harness. There are no warning lights present.
The headlights, one or both, arbitrarily go out while driving at night.
My vehicle has the symptoms listed in nhsta 12v-042. The dealership would not complete the recall due to my VIN number not being included or my manufacture date not matching the dates. They directed me to email the nhsta to get this resolved.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that the front headlamps failed to provide adequate illumination while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the front headlamp bulbs and ballasts; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
The driver's side low beam will come on then go off. After awhile it comes back on for a few seconds then goes out again. The vehicle can be sitting running or going down the road and will do the same thing.
Front headlights go out randomly as the vehicle warms up. Appears to be related to the 2011/2012 headlamp recall 12v-042 but my vehicle is not coming up on the notification list. Loss of headlights decreases ability to see and increases the risk of an accident. No dash messages, no computer messages. Lamps work when initially turned on so vehicle hasn't failed any safety inspections. All obvious checks provide no possible reason for this issue.
Headlamp (low beam projection)repeatedly shuts off after few minutes driving. I know that some police vehicles have this problem and they have been recalled. Can no longer use my personal car after sunset. Local dealer will repair but at my expense. This is a big deal safety issue that I shouldn't have to worry about.
When I start the vehicle, the low beams work normally. Within five minutes of lights being on, whether idle or during driving, they will turn off on there own. I am then forced to use high beams in order to have lighting at night.
While driving lights shut off, I switch from auto to on, to turn lights back on, lights flicker slightly as well. Car taken dealership changed car battery, key fog, and shortened wires to liggts. Problem is not fixed.
The driver's side hid low beam will randomly turn off. Upon using the toggle switch to turn both lights off and back to the on position, the failed headlamp will re-illuminate until it fails again. This appears to be an issue with the ballast, not the bulb.

The contact had explained to the dealership fremont motor rock springs Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram fiat, 1900 foothill blvd, rock springs, wy 82901, (307) 228-2091 that there was an intermittent internal electrical failure. The dealer had not provided further testing and diagnosis yet to determine a remedy to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired yet. The manufacturer was notified of the failure to determine a permanent remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000. Dyd.
Several times, the car has stalled while driving. I have had to come to a complete stop, restart the engine and it has gone away. In the last 18 months I have noticed on random occasions, when doing a left turn, it feels like the power steering is no longer working, and this only happens on left turns. Finally, I have some strange electrical issues happening, sometimes my left low beam will work, other days it won't. Now the sound to the speakers have stopped, and then today, I left to go to work, my car won't start, all I have is an illuminated etc light and nothing. I have tried getting Dodge to look at it repeatedly, it is clearly a wiring electrical fault, they keep telling me nothing is under real, and I keep putting money after money into the car, and I think its going to get me hurt one day.
My low beam on the the car had gone out and will do so after having the car on for a few minutes then the light will come back on if I turn them off and it will turn off again. Some times the lights will stay on for hours and other times they turn off within a couple minutes and usually one light goes first and the other shortly after.
Led taillights are going out, and cannot be replaced by consumers.
While driving on interstate doing 65 mph (and once while doing 25 mph) my lights, stereo and speedometer went out and car speed decreased. All lights on the dash light up/flash then after a few seconds everything go back to normal. Have happened several times while driving. And on two occasions the power steering fuses had to be replaced because they keep getting blown out. Have had alternator exchanged at last recall. Fearful that vehicle may stop in the line of traffic on the highway! have video of incident as it was happening. No pictures.

Happened to my daughter also while she was driving as well. Vehicle only has 70k miles, this occurred at about 62k miles. Low beam lights also going out occasionally. Have never received recall information regarding these issues but having these issues non the less.

At the red light the car shut off, did not have any power, and would not start. After jump starting the car it drove for about 30 minutes more, then all of a sudden the car started malfunctioning. The radio turned off, indicator lights started blinking, steering wheel begin to lock up, and the car began jerking uncontrollably. I then called a tow truck to jumpstart the car and proceeded to go home, the car never stopped jerking and was in power saver mode. I purchased a new battery the next day. Soon after the car begin to do all the same things, jerking, indicator lights, etc. My car has absolutely no power after completely charging the battery. It cannot get towed because I am unable to place the car in neutral due to no power. This has to be a manufacturers problem with the electrical system.
I am not really sensing an issue with the vehicle. However, two lights turned on one is abs and the other one is a car with squiggly lines behind it. I am not sure if this is something to do with the recalls. But, would like to know before I take to the dealership and have to pay to have this fixed when I haven't had the vehicle for too long. Also, I am not sure if it's safe to drive it like that. I also hear like a cracking noise under the dashboard it comes and goes not sure what that could be either.
Tl * the contact owns a 2011 Dodge Charger. The contact received a notification for recall NHTSA campaign number: 14v101000 (exterior lighting). Same as everyone else. Started with having to replace both lightbulbs multiple times. Dealer said it was wiring harness but not covered by recall. Within 6 months major catastrophic failure with alternator and battery, again not covered.
Noticed that the passenger side low beam headlamp was not lighting. Installed a new lamp with the same current and power specs. With less than 4 hours on the new lamp it also failed to light. Removed the lamp and found the connector shell/housing charred and brittle. Contacts on one side of the connector and both the original and replacement lamps were discolored by intense heat. Evidently, the connector contact was not providing a solid connection with the lamp terminals, and the high resistance connection resulted in overheating and melting of the connector, a dealer service advisor informed me that this is a known, ongoing problem for which the solution is to replace the entire wiring harness at the owner's expense. Research indicated that the problem has been acknowledged by Chrysler, but only police vehicles have been recalled. To avoid spending hundreds of dollars to have the entire harness replaced, the original connector has been removed and a replacement connector installed. Whether "new" harnesses installed to fix the problem use the same inadequate connectors is unknown.
Drivers side low beam went out while driving at night. While changing the bulb, I noticed that the connector and bulb were melted, black, and brittle. The new bulb lasted two days before it went out. Contacted Dodge about the recall on Dodge Charger police vehicles, but VIN specific recall does not cover my vehicle. Now I'm forced to get the harness repaired at my own expense. Does not seem right that there are so many others with the same problem, but Dodge is not fixing the problem???.
Have a 2011 Dodge Charger that head light went out. Had it replaced and a few days later went out again. The next day car wouldn't start. Had to have car towed to dealership. Had to replace alternator and battery. Cost over $ 800 to get fixed. Don't understand with so many complaints that are identical why Dodge hasn't had a recall. Seen where police cars have been recalled. Going to contact an attorney to see what options I have bc this is just wrong.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the driver's side head light failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the wiring harness had melted and shorted out the bulb. The dealer stated that both the wiring harness and the bulb needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred on the passenger's side of the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 51,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Driving home from school when I smelled hot what seemed to be wire coating melting. The passenger light went out, so I found a parts store and purchased a new light put it in saw that the wiring connector to the light was black and crispy, took note, one day later the bulb went out again, this time I opened the hood looked at the light and it was burned to a crisp, took the bulb out and the wire connection was melted beyond repair and the light casing was completely burned out. The wire connection had bare wire melted outer insulation was melted right off of the wire. I took the bulb out and started looking at why. I am not happy to see the issue, I have had my new to me car for only a month, will this be an expensive fix or will Dodge help fix it ?.
