Failure Date: 08/08/2017

(ad dealer does not exist and pep boys info is inadequate) tl the contact owns a 2011 Dodge Charger. While the vehicle was stationary, the interior lighting dimmed and the contact noticed that the headlights were not illuminated. There was a complete loss of headlight functionality, which prompted the contact to have the vehicle inspected at pep boys in edgewater, new jersey. The contact stated that the low beam headlight bulbs were removed and reinserted because they were not the source of the failure. In addition, the fuses were inspected but the failure could not be determined directly. Pep boys located NHTSA campaign number: 14v101000 (exterior lighting) and referred the contact to the dealer. 10 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2017

While driving on a main thouroughfare, the engine stalled. ( there was no warning that there was a problem, no warning lights were on. ) the electronic throttle control warning light came on, and then all elec power went out. Leaving the car without lights/flashers. Upon investigation, the alternator failed, shorting out the electrical system and killing/destroying the battery. The alternator shouldn't do this. I found that Dodge had a recall ( p-60) on their v-6 models for this very same issue. My car is a v-8. I was lucky I wasn't driving on a major highway or at night as the car had no way iof indicating distress to other drivers and the headlights didn't work. There is a clear defect in the alternators of these cars, its only a matter of time before someone is injured or killed.

14 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

There is a recall for 2011 Dodge Chargers concerning a wiring harness that effects the low beam headlights. For some reason, only certain models were included in the recall. My model (r/t) is not included in the recall but I'm having the exact same problem that is listed in the recall. The recall number is po8.

15 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2016

While driving my 2011 rt awd Dodge Charger on the freeway, at approximately 65 mph, all of the lights (including, the dash lights, the radio, the headlights, I am unsure if the rear running lights were involved) shut off momentarily (3-5 seconds). During that time I noticed a change in the steering, the wheel became stiff like the power steering was off. I let my foot off of the gas pedal but did not brake so I'm not sure if the power brakes were affected, but assume they were. It sounds a lot like the alternator failure recall involving the 6 cylinder models with the 160 amp alternator. (I believe this is the same alternator that was used in the r/t 5. 7l hemi model) the power came back on and I drove the last 4-5 miles home without further incident. I am apprehensive about driving on the freeway now. Loosing the ability to steer and brake at freeway speed could end in an accident. As an added note, when I arrived home I checked to see if there was any smell (electrical) near the engine, there was not.

But this recall is not noted to my VIN #, I looked into it the recall is on exterior headlights is on the right side of the Chargers manufactured in the time noted above, that is exactly the problem in my vehicle manufactured in the same time frame. While im driving home around approx. 10:30 pm . I was going uphill on a bridge in a curve when my headlights went completely out on my vehicle causing me to crash to the opposite side of the bridge in the on-coming traffic lane . There also were a couple vehicles approaching a couple hundred yards away in front of me. So I had to stop my vehicle in the middle of the road . I had to leave my vehicle on the side of the road for the remainder of the night because my headlights didnt come back on at all. I really feared for my life that night.

27 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2014

First, the passenger side headlight wiring melts. I take my vehicle to the dealership only to find out their is recall on the headlights and it going to take 14 weeks for me to get my vehicle repaired. Second, the battery saver mode message appears. I take it to the shop and they check the battery and it was dead, so I bought a new battery only to have my vehicle to stop on me again. This time I'm told it's the alternator but none are in stock anywhere! I also find out this is an issue with many 2011 Dodge Chargers. What does Chrysler do about it - nothing, sad.

28 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2014

A safety recall (p08) was issued starting 5/9/14. Took car to dealership for wiring harness insepction on 6/25/14 because right side headlight had just gone out. Dealership inspected, but did not have the parts in stock to replace bad harness. Was put on a waiting list for parts as dealership states they only get one set of parts per week from Chrysler for this recall. As of today, 9/2/14, I am still on the waiting list. In the meantime, I have been pulled over and ticketed for a non-working headlight. My concern is driving at night and worrying what would happen if the other headlight goes out. This is a safety recall and I can't get my car fixed because Chrysler isn't sending enough parts to dealerships. Is it going to take a crash with injuries or fatalities in order for parts to become available? I will refuse to pay another ticket and I don't have the option to not drive this vehicle at night. Contacted chrylser recall center on 9/2/14. They are trying to expedite parts to my local dealership, but there is no time frame when the parts will be received. In the meantime I will drive around with one headlight and hope the other does not fail.
