1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2024

The auxiliary fuel pump, located inside the passenger cabin under the right rear passenger seat, has been leaking fuel, leading to discoloration of the part and a strong scent of fuel inside the cabin. Additionally, a pool of gasoline sat atop the pump only separated by a thin plastic lid from the electrical cables leading to the battery in the vehicle's trunk. This gasoline could be ignited by the a spark or a short circuit. The Charger and Chrysler 300 from 2005 to 2023 has this design. I don't know if the auxiliary fuel pump cover is any more robust or fire suppressant than the 2014 model I possess. The dealer I took my vehicle to could not find the source of the leak and claimed to not being able to smell the obvious odor of gasoline permeating the vehicle cabin. I found out about it on you tube, and then showed the obvious fuel link to the technician when I took the vehicle to them a 2nd time.

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2023

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, a fuel odor was detected with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the evap canister needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 165,058.  .

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2022

Two days ago my fuel pump stopped working. Upon inspection the top of the fuel pump had a pinhole on top from the metal connector inside getting to hot. . . Gas was spilling out under pressure and when the tank was full. I replaced the pump. . . The problem is the old pump shows burn marks on the inside from the original connection. And it got so hot it melted threw the top . . Please help me fix this issue as I am afraid of fire. Replacing the pump is not going to fix the problem with your connection on top being wired the way it is. . . I have read many reviews online of Chargers and chryslers having this same issue and I drive my family in this car. I can not be worried about the fuel pump arching and blowing the car up. Please help.

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2021

The primary fuel pump (under the rear seat, driver's side) was leaking gas through the electrical connector. The electrical connector on the top of the fuel pump (exposed by removing the back seat and plastic cover), had two of the five metal pins where the plastic had melted allowing raw gas from the tank to leak through the connector. Gas would leak through connector when the tank was full of gas down to about 3/4 of a tank. The gas would collect on top of the fuel tank in the well created for the fuel pump and retaining ring - the gas leaked through at a sufficient rate that it would fill up the well and then dribble down on the ground underneath the car. The smell of gas in the car was horrendous, and when driven the gas would spread all over the rear underside of the gas tank and rear end of the car. There are many references to this issue on the web/youtube for the Charger/300/etc - hard to believe it is not a safety recall especially since the leak is through an electrical connector that feeds power to the fuel pump!.

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2021

My car was parked when I noticed oil leaking from under the car. After getting this issue checked out it was brought to my attention is was the oil filter housing. After calling several dealerships I was made aware this has been a very common issue in all Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler models 2014. So common that the replacement part is on 100,000 back ordered.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2019

I took my vehicle into my nearest Dodge dealership, which is about an hour away from where I live. I had scheduled an appt. With them over the phone in which I had to wait because they didnt have the "parts"in for the recall. This specific recall was to repair or replace the pcm, or update it if it could be. I waited for weeks, and never heard anything back from the dealer, finally I was able to secure an appointment with them. They kept my car all day and I had to hound them to be able to come get my car as they never contacted me to let me know if it was done so I could pick up my car before they closed. Finally I called and 10 min before they closed I was told my car was completed. When I went to pick up my car it was still in the back lot and parked very tightly between other cars. My 2014 Dodge Charger's heat was all the way up and this was during the summer, and it still had the throw away car mats covered in dirt inside. After carefully backing the car out of their back lot I went upon my way. I had to reset my clock as well. About 4 months go by and my check engine light came on and my vehicle was reading misfire on cylinder 1, the light remains on, the vehicle shudders at idle and smells of fuel on start. Covid happened and I was not able to get my vehicle in to the manufacturer but did get in to my local mechanic and they could not find the problem but saw what the car was doing and suggested to take it to the manufactuer again, please note it is 48 miles from my home. I was unable to address this issue until now and it occured to me that the pcm can cause these problems and due to the lack of confidence and lack of courtesy I believe that they did nothing in regards to the recall.

7 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2019

When fueling vehicle, at the point the vehicle is about topped off, gas starts leaking from underneath the vehicle near the driver side rear tire. A very strong odor of gasoline fumes can be smelled inside the passenger cabin. Occurs when vehicle is stationary being filled.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2018

Evaporative emission system large (fuel odor caused by the release of fuel vapors).

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2018

Gasoline leaking into cab from faulty or poor quality components or seals. Gas vapors inside car cause potential concerns for ignition and or explosion. Vehicle was stationary at home. Dodge customer service unhelpful.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2016

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Charger. While driving 5 mph over a speed bump, the contact heard an abnormal sound coming form the vehicle. A few days later, the contact smelled an abnormal exhaust odor. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that a hold was in the catalytic converter and it would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired because the technician refused to do the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 35,096. The VIN was not provided.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2016

While driving my 2014 Dodge Charger sxt on the freeway today (11/02/16) the engine stalled & I barely made it to the relative safety of the median to attempt to restart my car. After multiple attempts, it eventually restarted, however it stalled again shortly thereafter on the freeway & 3 more times once I got off the freeway. I just got it back from the dealership last week for the same problem (they claimed that they "updated" some software but couldn't replicate the problem). It is currently at the dealership, but I am concerned that I may not be able to safely avoid injury/damage if this problem isn't fixed & continues to happen. I have multiple photos & videos on my phone of this occurring & would be happy to email them.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2015

While driving on the highway at 65mph the vehicle shut off and I lost power steering. I was barely able to avoid being hit during heavy morning traffic. Once stopped I was unable to get the vehicle to restart and needed to be towed to the dealer.
