My daughter could not get the car to stop, as she was engaging the break to the floor. She is unsure if when she turned cruise control was set, but either way the brake should have turned it off. Then when the pole was hit, all the airbags went off except the passenger lower airbag. I was the passenger and I have a hurt ankle, knee, and hip. Why would all airbags go off except one if the impact was directly in the front of the car? the vehicle was turning when she noticed it would not slow down.

My 2014 Dodge Charger has now had the steering wheel and rod come out in my lap twice now while driving within three months. I have reported this with fca corporate, this is now my third report and complaint with the vehicle safety department, now two open safety claims with Chrysler corporate in denver and also have had the repairs done once by larry h miller I am trying to get the same repair done again but no one will return my phone calls and no one is willing to take accountability of this vehicle and fix it. Total care warranty has a contract with larry h miller for 12 months or 12,000 miles that they must fix the repairs no matter what. Larry h miller claimed that total care was not going to cover the fixes even though they are the ones that are supposed to fix it. Fraud, lies, unsafe and unprofessional practices. I have almost been in an accident twice now. The steering wheel literally falls out while I am adjusting it up or down even if I am going slow or in park. No one will fix my vehicle, no one will call me back. I contacted the dealership I bought it from since I am the first and only owner, and they will not return my phone calls. Gerry with fca management in the claims department in denver with whom my claims were managed by, now he will not return any of my emails or phone calls regarding my cases with Chrysler corporate. I will be contacting the manufacturer and the secretary of transportation and also file this federally. By law I should have an equivalent vehicle replaced since mine is a faulty vehicle. I have a defective part and already replaced and covered by my warranty for almost $6000 and now within a month the exact same steering wheel and rod fell into my lap while driving while it was raining took off my windshield wiper lever now I have no blinkers now I have no windshield wipers and now my cruise control and all wheel drive or out too.
While driving, I conducted a normal pass on a two lane road. When I pressed the acceleration pedal, the car took off at a dramatic pace. The car continued to accelerate well over 100 mph. Dragging the brake kept the car from continuing to accelerate to its full capacity. Shifting in neutral had no effect as the engine maintained its full rpm. While in neutral, the car's computer would not allow the engine to be shut off displaying a message that the car had to be in park before that was allowed to happen. Placed the car in neutral, applied full braking, and brought the car to a standstill as the engine continued to run at full rpm. Shifted to park and turned the car off. I let it sit for 10 minutes and started it again. Car performed normal. Dodge has a known issue/recall for the same situation when using cruise control and I believe the issue is present while not using cruise control as well. Less than a month ago, the car was serviced at the local Dodge dealer under the recall to correct the cruise control issue.
When returning from a trip to upper michigan my windshield was dirty so I pressed the windshield washer button and nothing happened so I pressed it again with the same results, so we continued on. We we on a 6 lane highway with the cruise control set at 72 mph. When approaching our exit I needed to get around 2 semis so I stepped on the gas and the rpm gauge went to 5000 rpm and the speed suddenly dropped down to about 60 mph, I tried it again and it did the same thing. When I finally got safely off the highway I went directly to my dealer who told me there was nothing they could do for me for the next week. We went to our home not knowing what was going to happen next. The following day we needed to run some errands around town and the car ran perfect and has ever since. This happened on Dec. 7. 2018. My concern is when will this happen again and will I be in the middle of heavy traffic again.

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Dodge Charger. When the contact purchased the vehicle from don brown Chevrolet (2244 s kings highway blvd, st. Louis, mo 63110, 314-772-1400), they were not informed that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 18v332000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control). While making a stop, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the front and rear wheels. The service center manager was notified of the failure. A dealer was not notified. In addition, the cruise control failed to properly engage and disengage, which caused the vehicle to idle highly. The contact had to apply force to the brake pedal and maneuver the switch function due to the failure. The contact received 61 safety alerts to a diagnostic trouble code device reader since owning the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact wanted a buy back or a trade in option if the manufacturer was unable to remedy the failures. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was not available.

I started a uconnect system update while I was still parked. The disclaimer said nothing about to not update while driving. I started the update and started driving (my commute is about 25 minutes). It took about 10-15 minutes to download the update. Once it downloaded, the system reset. At this time I was in cruise control on a freeway that was ending, so I turned off my cruise control and then my car jolted forwarded as if it were in a very low gear and almost caused me to crash. I then was stuck in 1st gear while the system was rebooting and couldn't automatically or manually shift past 1st gear leaving me stuck on the side of the road. Then a screen popped up saying there was 50 minutes left on the update. I was stuck on the side of the road until the update finished. After that, my gears were shifting normally. During this time, I called Dodge and opened a case letting them know what happened. The picture I provided was a picture after I was already stopped on the side of the road.

Cruise control switch will not turn on/off, and cancel button won't function, have had cluster replaced, and software updated twice(once at dealership, then at my mechanics), the "repair" only lasts for around 15,000 - 20,000 miles before it starts to act up again. Most times after turning on the vehicle the steering wheel/cruise cluster needs to get hit violently multiple times to engage(turn on) the cruise control, regardless on if vehicle is stationary, or in motion. Some times I end up making a 25 min drive(or more if it is happening on a road trip) on the freeway with out it even engaging(if it takes more than 3 min(time to freeway) to try to get it to activate, then I don't risk trying to get it active, but will try every couple of minutes to turn it on with out success.

Traveling on highway, cruise control turned off, abs/traction control light came on then check engine came on and the car stalled and would not go anywhere. I am thinking a faulty alternator. Needs to be on recall for alternators.
The vehicle's cruise control was engaged and was set to 67 mph on an open, rural straight highway. A single tap and release of the + cruise button was initiated. Instead of incrementing the speed up by 1 mph the accelerator remained engaged and the car quickly accelerated uncontrollably to 90+ mph. A hard press on the brakes was required to get the car to disengage the accelerator. Quite shocked by what just happened I informed the passenger that was with me of the event that just took place. I then engaged the cruise control a second time and then again initiated a tap and release of the + cruise button. Again, this should have incremented the cruise speed by 1 mph but instead the car again went into an uncontrolled acceleration until I stopped it by a hard press on the brakes. This condition was witnessed by myself and a passenger that was with me. The vehicle has 16,000 miles on it and has never had any maintenance other than what is performed at and by the dealer.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Charger. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle made an abnormal sparking noise and the front driver side air bag rattled. The front passenger side window failed to open and close intermittently. In addition, all four windows failed intermittently. When the cruise control was engaged, the vehicle accelerated without warning. The cruise control had to be disengaged in order for the vehicle to slow down. The failures recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 14v634000 (electrical system) and 15v467000 (air bags). The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while driving down a steep hill with the cruise control set to 73 mph, the vehicle began to increase in speed to 90 mph without warning. The contact also stated that he felt unsafe in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.
While driving on a town road at about 35 mph, the warning lights for the abs and esc systems lit. I subsequently determined that the vehicle cruise control also no longer functioned. I contacted Chrysler since the vehicle recently had a recall performed for alternator replacement, and symptoms included in that recall - Chrysler p60 / NHTSA 14v-634 - indicate that modes of failure may include disabling abs and esc. Chrysler stated that "sometimes they may need to do the recall again". Brought vehicle to dealer. Diagnosed as a sensor failure. I had to pay for repairs. Service writer stated that this failure happens on these cars quite frequently, and even "guessed" correctly what needed to be replaced before the tech worked on it. Esc and abs are both significant safety systems.
I was driving my 2012 Dodge Charger on the interstate with the cruise control set. All of a sudden the vehicle accelerated on it's on, canceling the cruise control setting. I could not turn the cruise control setting off, I could resume my previous speed setting, nor could I set the cruise to a new speed. I had to stop, turn the vehicle off and then back on for the cruise control setting to reset. I feel this is a safety hazard and that Dodge should issue a recall to fix the problem.
This is the second alternator in two years both burned up. Charger 2011 model sucks big time. So many problems with this car. Chrysler should recall the alternator. I know others are having the same problem. . . Updated 07/23/14 the consumer stated the day the alternator burned up, the vehicle was loosing power while driving. There was a burning smell. The radio and dashboard grew dim and then went blank. The rear tire had to be replaced every 2-3 months. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where they agreed something was wrong, for the tires to be wearing prematurely. She was told, it was the tow-bar, and the repair cost was $640. However, the dealer paid half of the repair. After the repair, the rear tires still needed to be replaced, every 2-3 months. The cruise control worked for about two months. The driver side head lights burned out every two weeks.
I recently purchased a new Dodge Charger which is equipped with the adaptive cruise control accessory. The operation of this control is a safety problem as follows: for example, I set the speed for 55 mph on the highway which ¿cruises¿ the automobile at this speed. I then arrive at a 65 mph limit stretch of road and so I accelerate by pressing the ¿res/+¿ control to accelerate the vehicle to 65 mph. With all previous cruise controls, when I stop pressing this control at 65 mph, the speed stabilizes. With this acc, it continues to accelerate like a rocket until I ¿cancel¿, turn off the cruise control or hit the brakes. The reverse also applies ¿ if I wish to slow down, removing the pressure on the ¿set/-¿ does nothing and the vehicle still continues to slow down. It is possible to switch from the acc to normal cruise control, but this problem is still apparent. I am now almost familiar with this problem and can act accordingly, but my wife drives the vehicle occasional and she has problems because her own vehicle does not operate in a similar manner to this cruise control. I am sure that other occasional drivers find this problematic, and it appears to be an accident waiting to happen ¿ if it hasn¿t already. I have taken this to the dealer several times over the last six months, and they contacted Chrysler. Initially, Chrysler asked for the control hardware be shipped to them for analysis. This was done by the dealer but Chrysler informed us they could not find a problem. With my latest visit I was informed that it is supposed to operate in this fashion, but the handbook does not mention any of these control issues.
