40 Wheel problem of the 2007 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 04/19/2017

My vehicle was released to me from carstar of macon with a knowingly inoperable tpms on all four of my tires. I was not told this before I paid and drove away. I got 5 minutes down the road and felt violent shaving in the steering wheel. I turned around and drove the vehicle back to carstar and waited about 20 minutes for them to tell me that they were aware that the tpms was inoperable. That they were aware that all four sensors were not working properly and that one had actually fallen out into the tire itself and was bouncing around in the wheel well knocking off the alignment of the vehicle. They gave me an option of fixing it or removing the sensors. I was told that they would try to contact my insurence company to see if they would pay for the damaged parts that were operating normally before they switched out the new tire wheels. Again they release the vehicle to me with an inoperable tpms system and advise me to drive over 60 mph.

41 Wheel problem of the 2011 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 02/02/2017

I have had to replace my tires every 9 months and rotate them every 3 weeks. Finally, I asked my tire shop why. He said the way this Dodge Charger was built, the tires are at an angle so they wear unevenly, which also makes it wear faster. I thought I was being fed a story, so I took it somewhere else. The told me the same exact thing. This is very expensive and dangerous. I'm just waiting for a tire to blow out on the highway.

42 Wheel problem of the 2011 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 09/16/2016

Passenger air bag light comes on and stays illuminated in dash, tire pressure light comes on and goes off often when driving and when I purchased the vehicle a sensor was replaced and since I purchased the vehicle in 2016 the car has been hard to steer. The cars steering is still hard to steer when making turns. It acts as if it is going to lock up.

44 Wheel problem of the 2009 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 05/12/2016

Tire pressure sensor problems: 7/6/2012 - right front tps cracked and leaking air replaced. (mileage 33,166) safford Dodge, fredericksburg, va. (they did not reset) 7/7/2012 - tire pressure light on - replaced left front tps. (mileage 33,700) fair oaks Dodge, chantilly, va 5/12/2016 - left front tire pressure sensor cracked and needs replacement. This is a safety issue. Only a Dodge dealer can replace the tire pressure sensor. In the event of a flat tire or anything else, it cannot be serviced and repaired but by a dealer. This is an impossible situation when you are traveling. I have contacted Dodge headquarters in michigan only to be told there is 'no recall' on the item and no warranty so nothing will be done. I have owned vehicles for over 50 years and this is the only vehicle this has ever happened on. The fact that this is now the third time the tps has to be replaced certainly makes me question why? I realize that I am in deep trouble if I have a flat and also I cannot even have my tires rotated because of this. It is over $200 every time you have to go to the dealer to have it replaced. What a ripoff. Again, this is a safety issue and I feel Dodge is negligent.

47 Wheel problem of the 2008 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

I purchased a car from johnny auto sales off florin rd. I was told the car had never been in an accident, clean car fax. The only major thing was the engine had been replaced. The check engine lt and the tire indicator lt were on and johnny said he would make sure to fix the issue w/lights. I kept getting flat tires. I told johnny my tires are bald and keep going flat. He told me to go to his tire guy and he would pay for used tires to be put on. I did just that. They replaced my tires and johnny signed for them. I continued getting flar tire so I went back to the tire shop and had my tires checked. They said no problems with the tires. So they checked my rims. Cracked. My rim on the back passenger side was cracked. I called johnny and he says well how does he know I didn't drive the car hard. So I figured I was not going to get anywhere with him I went and bought my own tires and rims so I know there would be no problems and have a warranty. Now I needed an alignment and to get theverything tire indicator light off. So I took the car to pep boys, firestone and les schwab. All 3 places refused to give me an alignment. Reason being. . . Bent subframe. I got a printout of how my tires should be and what they were and the result is. . . Not safe. Clearly my car has had some type of damage due to an accident to cause a bent subframe. Then the guys point out all the bondo on the passenger side. All the way to the glue in the trunk. Like someone cut the trunk and glued it back on. Still no help from johnny. The interior carpet doesn't even belong to an 08 Charger. It came from a newer model Charger. He pieced this car together to satisfy his greed while putting people like myself in danger. I have children that ride with me. My question to johnny is. . . Would you be ok with this situation if it was you? and ur children ride in this car? exactly my point. . .

49 Wheel problem of the 2012 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 04/21/2015

I have been driving my car on nearly a daily basis since I acquired it in October 2013. Over the course of the past 27k miles, I have had to replace my wheels ("rims") on 3 separate occasions during the spring months as a result of hairline fractures/cracks occurring on the inner wall of the wheel. The location of the crack to be more precise is where the bead of the tire would be seated during mounting. In each instance, the wheel in question was mounted on the front of the car (one driver side and two passenger side) and did not show any sign of deformation or bending. Dodge has been made aware of the cracks and has consistently denied claims stating that they were not a result of workmanship or from poor design. Given the stiffness of the suspension and weight of the motor over the front wheels as well as the consistency of the fracture (front of car and inside of wheel), I do not agree with their claims. I have done a brief search of the internet and have found an abundance of blogs and similar discussion boards where owners of srt8 Chargers of my model year have experienced the same problem. While my instances have been slow leaks from cracks, other drivers may experience blowouts from sudden expansion of the crack causing structural failure.

50 Wheel problem of the 2012 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 04/19/2015

Night time @ 8:30pm, I was traveling 20w/59s towards the foster exit. Before I came upon the black warrior river bridge, I hit an unexpected pothole in the left lane and it bend and cracked the front driver's side rim and threw off the front alignment of my vehicle.

52 Wheel problem of the 2009 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 12/08/2014

In the last four months, my 2009 Dodge Charger has stalled three times without warning. It doesn't sputter, then die. It just shuts down. The first two times, I was driving straight. This last time, 12/08/14, I was turning in a parking lot. I lost my power steering and my power breaks. I hit the concrete base of a light pole hard enough to blow out my front driver-side tire and bent the tie rod. There is quite a bit of damage to the front quarter panel, bumper and broke the headlight. Not to mention, it has given me whiplash. I have not seeked medical attention at this time, but I have had it before, and am quite certain I have it again. I am not certain as to why the airbag did not deploy??? I have read that this is a known issue, but there has not been a recall. I have seen other issues listed on this site regarding this particular car. I have had to replace a tpms on one of my tires as well. I haven't look at all the complaints. But I also have an ongoing issue with my car not starting, numerous times a week. I have taken it to the dealership at least three times, and they cannot ever get it to duplicate. When I turn the key, it just turns over like it is going to start, then shuts down, without a single sputter. Kind of like how it is just shutting down while driving. The dealership replaced the battery in my key thinking that was the issue, nothing has helped. I would like to add my information into the group of individuals who have had problems with this particular car. After today's incident, my husband wants to get rid of it. I love my car, I just don't love the issues I am having with it, especially now that I am hurt. I am just thankful I am did not hit or hurt anyone else, due to this mechanical failure.

53 Wheel problem of the 2010 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 08/19/2014

I had a flat tire and tried to remove it and put the spare on but could not get the lugs nuts off because the tire wrench no longer fit them. I had to get car transported to Dodge dealership by flat bed. When we got there the service manager told me this was a common problem on Dodge Chargers, challengers, and Chrysler 300's. The lug nut is manufactured in two parts, and the outer part swells making the lug nut defective. So therefore the dealership had to pry them off. When they checked the other lug nuts they were all bad due to a defective design. Even though this is a product of Dodge and therefore their fault and well known problem they charged me over $350. 00 to replace all of these lug nuts. I feel this part should be recalled because it is unsafe and could possibly cause me to be stranded somewhere if I have a flat tire, because I cannot change it myself due to this defect. I am thankful that this happened in my driveway or else I would be stuck in the middle of nowhere with no way of putting the spare on. I feel I should be reimbursed for this faulty design. Thank you in advance for addressing this problem.

There is highway construction between mile marker 314-320 interstate 65 north bound. I was approx driving in the left hand lane at 4:15pm on Wednesday June 11 2014. I was going approaching the overpass and there was no transition asphalt on removed the removed existing road and the 3 inch step up to the overpass bridge. No visible signs for warnings. I hit the curb and immediatley notice a vibraton on my left driver side wheel. Approx 100 yds from the overpass, there were 2 other cars (2007 merceds benz e300 and older model chevy pickup) changing flat tires, due to this unleveled transition. Making it home to huntsville I had a 1 inch v shape dint in my rim busted tire and alignment off. I called and ordered a new rim, however they sent me a email stating the rims are discontinued. The tire trackson light came on in 2014 I have had a set of new tires put on twice and get the oil and tires rotating every 4 months and the light has yet to go off and they can't tell me why the light is staying on and says low tire pressure. I am really scared to drive it because I don't want the wheels to lock or something else and causes me a bad accident, so I really don't drive it anymore because of that, so could you please look off into it and let me and others know if it's any danger to it. Thanks.

60 Wheel problem of the 2008 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 06/26/2013

Got a flat tire, after attempting to remove the wheel to change the tire realized the tire wrench did not fit the lug nuts. Had to have the car towed off the turnpike. When my mechanic looked at it he advised that this is an ongoing problem with the Dodge, the lug nuts swell. Had to replace all 20 lug nuts. When I contacted Dodge they advised that there was nothing they could do. After looking on line realize that this is a common problem. Wondering why no recall??.

62 Wheel problem of the 2009 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 05/21/2013

The passenger side rear tire pressure sensor broke apart causing the sensor to fall into the tire and resulting in a flat tire on the highway, within seconds. I went to the location and put on the spare. When I found the cause of the flat tire, I checked the rest of the tire pressure sensors and found another sensor with the nut that holds the sensor in place cracked. I then took the car to the dealer where I bought it, and told them about what happened. At first they were not going to help me. Then I said, "let me get this straight your place sold me an unsafe car", at that point they reinbursed us for the sensor I had fixed, and replaced the sensor that had the cracked nut. That was great, but they installed the same defective sensors. These sensors corode after time and could cause a fatality on the road.

66 Wheel problem of the 2011 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 11/19/2012

I bought my 2011 Charger in July 2012 with 32000miles on it. Four months after buying my Charger I had to replace both back tires. The tires were so worn out the wire was showing. Bought 2 new tires , by January 2013. These were used tires. In may 2012 , I bought 4 new tires and had an alignment done. August 2013 the back tires had wire showing again. Dealer said it was the tow bar . I bought it in for repairs $350. I am currently buying back tires every 3-4 months. Recall comes out about abs light and electrical system which can affect esc functions. I was thinking "ok well maybe I driving so much I'm wearing down my tires" because between oil changes I had a 10,000 mile jump. Couldn't figure how I did 10,000 miles in 3 months. Now after careful study I found out esc function affects how the speedometer reads, tire travel , and mileage reading. This car has been trouble since I bought it. In 2 years it says I've traveled 70,000 miles. What a rip off! the back end of the car just wobbles freely. Junk car.

67 Wheel problem of the 2011 Dodge Charger

68 Wheel problem of the 2010 Dodge Charger

While driving I began to experience hearing a knocking noise coming from the right front passenger side of car. This problem was first noted several days after purchasing from dealer. Dealer was notified and advised the problem would be taken care of. Received the vehicle back and no noise. Several months later same noise vehicle was taken back to dealer because along with the noise the tires on vehicle was worn irregularly. The dealer refused to repair issue. Goodyear inspected vehicle and advised that the tires and alignment was severly off. I was advised by goodyear that vehicle appears to be ok but is known to have suspension issue. Recently I took vehicle for tire rotation and was advised that outer tie rod ends are loose and required immediate repair. This explained my inability to steer effectively and knocking noise which returns.

70 Wheel problem of the 2009 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 09/01/2011

I was traveling down the interstate and the valve stem on the left rear tire disappeared causing rapid deflation of the tire. I was traveling at highway speeds and this happened on a bridge that was a mile long with no place to stop. After installing the "donut" spare I entered tire into my gps to find a location for repair since I was still 500 miles from home. The tire shop I first stopped at dismounted the tire and diagnosed the cause as the nut that holds the valve stem / tire sensor in the wheel came off. He informed me that the tire was ruined and he had no replacement in that size available. Advised me to the nearest shop in another town that might have a tire my size. He also inspected the other valve stems and found 2 of the 3 remaining retaining nuts cracked and advised me to get my vehicle in a dealership for repairs due to immenent failure of more parts.
