Six problems related to front seat recliner have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Dakota. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving driver's seat recliner bolt broke, causing the driver's seat back to fall backwards. Driver lose control of the vehicle temporarily.
The rider's side seat back is locked in place and will not fold forward. This hampers getting people or materials out of the back seat of this extended cab pickup. It is also a safety hazard as a person in the back could not easily escape in the event of an accident. There are 57 other people that have requested replacement parts which are not being provided.
Seat locking latch behind both driver and passenger seats does not function. Seats will not lock into place.
Lower bolt that hold seatback broke, causing seat to tip backwardswhich could have resulted in loss of vehicle control.
The front seatback latches did not work properly. The driver's latch does not lock allowing the seatback to move forward during sudden turns. The passenger seatback was permanently locked not allowing for seat back to be adjusted. As a result, consumer can not add or remove passengers from extended cab on passenger's side.
Back of seats do not latch and unlatch properly this is creating a danger if there was a crash or sudden stop.
