One problem related to speed control linkage has been reported for the 1998 Dodge Dakota. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving with cruise control engaged and going up a hill, vehicle goes past 3rd gear into 2nd gear, races up to over 5000 rpm which resulted in a collision. Took vehicle to dealer and they adjusted the speed control linkage, but problem reoccurred causing loss of control. Speed control linkage adjusted again, problem has not reoccurred since.
