Two problems related to starter have been reported for the 1999 Dodge Dakota. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Front end steering mechanism had to be replaced. Both of the vehicle's lower control arm ball joints were replaced. The starter assembley was replaced. The battery terminals were also replaced.
Starter shorted and caused a fire on the wiring from battery to starter.
