Five problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 1999 Dodge Dakota. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I already change the 2 front wheel hub this year n my problem is the rear differential,there is a knock coming when I engage it to drive or reverse. It seem the spindle gear is loose.
Vehicle will accelerate without warning. While in neutral or clutch depressed will rev up to 3800 rpm's without warning. Vehickle has been in a Chrysler repair shop 6 times for same problem. Problem has returned each time. I fear that this vehicle has a design flaw.
Vehicle vibrates and trembles without prior warning when accelerating. Dealership is aware of problem.
While driving between 50-60 mph and accelerating , going up hill, all service lights will come on, and for about 20 seconds all brake/hazard/directional headlights etc. , will become inoperative. But engine will still run. Dealer cannot determine cause of defect.
Intermittently when driving motor will speed up and then come back down. Dealer has inspected vehicle and could not duplicate the problem. Consumer states dealer installed a throttle positioning sensor.
