Two problems related to cooling fan have been reported for the 2000 Dodge Dakota. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Engine partially stalled once and then again - engine trouble light came on. Upon stopping vehicle, noted that auxillary fan continued to run even though engine was cool. Noted a smell of burning plastic and discoverd fan relay in fuse box was smoking and extremely hot. Upon removal of fan relay, the fan stopped, and smell of burned plastic stopped. Returned vehicle to dealer for repairs on 8/3/02.
When vehicle is shut off, the auxiliary fan keeps running, dealer replaced fan and found the relay was sticking.
