4 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2009

Need to replace the clock spring so that the air bag would work. This cost me $201. 64 at a mechanical shop. This item has been a recall for model year 2000 quad cab Dakota trucks. I'm wondering if Chrysler actually changed the configuration for 2001 trucks.

5 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2007

I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota 4. 7l quadcab and my horn, cruise and airbag all stopped working at the same time. I have seen a recall for this matter on 2000 vehicles, but not 2001. I am now operating without an airbag. Updated 02-01-08 updated 02/01/08 the consumer stated he is also without a horn and has not replaced it due to cost. Updated 02/01/08.

6 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2006

2001 Dodge Dakota pick up, loss of steering, resulting in a off the road crash and rollover with injuries. (one moment later could have resulted in deaths. ).

7 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2005

Bought a 2001 Dodge quad cab sport 4x4 in 2003. The dash had a small crack on the drivers side at time of purchase. The crack spread rapidly to all areas of the dashboard. I used protectants, adhesives and dashboard shades and a dash pad to prevent further spread to no avail. During one evening trip,I hit a bump in the road and the entire dash caved in causing the instrument cluster to lose lighting. I had to collect all the extremely sharp shards of plastic out of the dashboard recess to look for the problem. It was during this incident that a extremely sharp piece of plastic cut deep into my right hand. I should have gotten stitches, but used gauze and wrap until healed. What would have happened if the airbag was deployed with loose plastic parts flying all over the place? survive the crash and then die from massive lacerations from broken dash pieces? I contacted multiple local Dodge dealers and was told that they knew and corporate knew of the problem, but they would not replace it because Dodge corporate would not authorize or pay for the obvious manufacturing defect. I probably will never buy a Dodge again. Dodge knew this was a big problem, but did and still does not care. Almost every Dodge I've seen within the 2000-2003 years has this blaring problem. Some have replaced the dash with aftermarket parts or just try to cover it up with dash pads or mats. Does the NHTSA care? has this massive issue even looked into?.

8 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2004

The air bag light turned on and off intermittently. Vehicle was taken to dealer for check up, and test results showed that the air bags needed to be replaced because they will not deploy in an accident.
