Brake Disc Pads problems of the 2001 Dodge Dakota

1 Brake Disc Pads problem

I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota quad cab and while approaching a stop sign, stepped on the brake pedal which went completely to the floor, and nearly caused me to rear end another vehicle. When I brought it to the dealer they stated to me that the the brake pad was sheared off by the rivets, causing a metal to metal contact with the rotor.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2003

At 21000 miles, I noticed a clanking sound in the front of the vehicle. When the dealer checked it out, the brake pad clips had rusted away and one rotor had excessive wear. However, Chrysler refused to pay for repairs, which cost over $400. 00.

3 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2003

When the brakes were applied, the pedal traveled to the floor, which caused extended stopping distance. . The consumer discovered the brake pad had delaminated from the backing plate and fallen out.

4 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2002

Metal on front brake pads is deteriorating. As a result there is a shimmy in the front end while driving.

5 Brake Disc Pads problem

I purchased my 2001 Dodge Dakota club cab back in Feb. 2002 as a demo vehicle with 5000 miles on it. Since then I have had the brake pads replaced twice and have had the drums and rotors replaced 4 times due to warping. About every three thousand miles my drums and rotors need to be turned or replaced. My truck has 70,000 miles on it and it is used primarily on the highway.
