Five problems related to front suspension have been reported for the 2001 Dodge Dakota. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
There is terrible noise coming from the front end of my 2001 Dodge Dakota quadcab. Dealer greased bushings but noise is back and worse than ever!!!!!!!!!!!.
Steering problem diagnosed by Dodge dealer as needing replacement track bar. Front axle bounces violently at highway speed causing loss of control. 2001 Dodge ram 1500, 4x4 quad cab, 64000 miles. Dodge claims no responsibility.
2001 Dakota quad cab has a loud knock in front suspension. Three dealers unable to fix. The truck has had many front end parts replaced and the frame welded. For a total of 10 times to the dealers within a 6 month peroid. Still unble to fix. I am now concerned about the performance and saftey of vehicle. Chyrsler has offered no solution and very uncooperative with problem.
Steering pull and poor handling. Ie wandering, drift, pull to the right even after alignment(s) at different shops including dealership. Problem has been ongoing since purchase of vehicle when new. Vehicle now has 65,000 miles and has worn 2 sets of tires and almost due for a 3rd set.
While driving consumer heard a popping noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. Dealer replaced the front axle, but the problem recurred.
