The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Dakota. The contact was braking from 60 mph when the vehicle abnormally accelerated. The contact was able to stop the unintended acceleration by shifting into neutral and turning of the ignition. The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility. The manufacturer advised the contact to have the vehicle towed to an authorized dealer. The dealer diagnosed the failure as a defective oxygen sensor. The dealer replaced the sensor and advised that the repair possibly would not correct the failure. The current and failure mileage was 95,000.
