Five problems related to brake disc pads have been reported for the 2003 Dodge Dakota. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Brake failure had 2 accidects because of this and Dodge will not take responsibility I have had this truck for only 6 months and already have a brake failure.
I purchased a new 2003 Dodge Dakota truck in November, 2003. The brakes started squeaking loudly in January, 2004. It seems that I really have to push hard for the brakes to work. I informed the dealership in January, March, and may 2003 and again in June, 2004. They insist that it is common for the brakes to make a noise like this. They have attempted to put some type of filler on the pads which only stop it from making a noise for one week. In June, 2004, they said they replaced the pads with a "cheap" new pad. The brakes are still squeaking loudly. I am sending this to you because I called Chrysler and they said there was nothing they can do. I am just afraid that one day my breaks will not work and I will cause an accident. What do you recommend I do? thank you. Ingrid getka.
I have a 2003 Dodge ram, 1500 quad cab with a hemi engine. I only have 7500 miles on it and I have taken it in twice to have the front rotors turned down because of severe warpage of them. I am being told that they now have to replace the calipers and brake pads but it has now been over a month because there is a national back-order on the parts. They stated that they have no idea when the parts will be in so I have been driving a truck that severly vibrates the steering when I apply the brakes. They refer to TSB 05-008-03 for the problem.

Purchased a 2003 Dodge Dakota quad 4x4. Day of delivery the salesman noticed the rear makes a loud squeeking noise when put into reverse and backing. Took it in for inspection and they adjusted the rear brakes. We have had it back to the dealer three additional times. The most recent they replaced pads along with some additional adjustements. We drove the vehicle home pulled into the driveway and it did it this time going forward. Now it does it in either drive or reverse. We have been told by the dealer it is a design problem but the manufacture states is not a potential saftey hazard but something the consumer will have to tolerate. The vehicle was purchased in Nov of 02 and has aproximately 3,000 miles on it.
