Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Dodge Dakota. The contact stated that while backing into the driveway when the contact attempting to apply the brakes when the brake pedal floored failing to stop the vehicle. The contact applied the emergency brakes and looked under the hood of the vehicle where they noticed a burning odor. The contact shortly noticed that the vehicle had a fire near the engine of the vehicle. The contact stated they had their wife contact the fire department. The fire department put out fire. There were no injuries and no medical assistance needed. Vehicle towed. The contact contacted the manufacturer to inform them that the fire report reported that the vehicle's master cylinder brake fluid leak caused fiire. The vehicle deemed totaled. The manufacturer opened a case regarding the matter. The approximate failure mileage was 171,000. Gl.
Engine cylinder head driver side rocker arm fell because of a loose intake valve guide which allows play in the head and rocker arms fallen off into the valve cover. Poor design aluminum head metal elongated for sure, please let Dodge fix the problem. It is truly overly expensive, for the manufacturer mistakes and they have a continuous many. All while driving on the highway at 50 mph.
The contact leased a 2005 Dodge Dakota. When attempting to slow down or stop at any speed, the vehicle suddenly shuts down. The most recent failure occurred while driving 15 mph. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The manufacturer will not authorize the dealer to replace any parts since the diagnostic test did not provide an error code. The failure mileage was 9,000 and current mileage was 16,000.
2005 Dodge Dakota quad cab v8 2wd. Vehicle has been to original dealer 3-4 times. Once to replace the rear brakes under a recall. At least 2-3 times to "fix" a rough idle and a miss at light throttle cruising speed. Original dealer called it a "fish bite. " is that a technical term I missed? another called it "beaming. " I guess these are technical terms learned at big city dealer school. Driving at speeds from 25-85 mph truck seems to run rough. And also seems to have lost some power. Mpg has gone from 18. 5 to 15. Have been told everytime "we reset the computer, nothing is wrong, ergo it is "fixed. " not finding a problem is not fixing it. Truck still runs rough at highway speed. Have also been told this is "normal. " "they all do that. " funny how this has just come about in the past 3-4 weeks. But at least the brake problem has not come back. At least one other dealer is willing to look at it again and try to help. Original dealer has offered nothing. I really, really, really hate this truck.
I have been trying to get Chrysler to fix the vibration/or wobbling sensation in my 05 Dodge Dakota since October. They did replace the axles but the truck still vibrates. They will not work on my truck- they say everything is normal and I disagree. I believe there are safety issues here. My 3. 7 v6 engine has a lower engine knock at slow idles. They refuse to acknowledge the sound or say it is normal. I have been to the dealership several times and had to finally hire a lawyer for advice. I have also had problems with my heater not working and transmission/rear end making unexplained noises. I'm very frustrated and disappointed with the truck and how Chrysler is handling the situation.
