1 Clutch problem of the 2004 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 01/22/2008

Clutch failed, vehicle would not start unless push started, was able to drive and shift normally. Vehicle functioned normally upuntill the failure. Brought vehicle to dealer. The pedal rod was bent, after taking my vehicle to the dealer I was told that the clutch master and slave "fell apart in their hands" this is a part that does not fail, should not fail. This vehicle is only 3. 5 yrs old. To make matters worse there are no available parts to repair this vehicle. To quote the service manager "there could have been a run on the parts" I believe this warrents looking into to see if this is a faulty part.

2 Clutch problem of the 2002 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 05/14/2005

Driving <30min at 20-50mph,towing a light trailer, while turning into driveway, depressed clutch, pedal went to floor and stayed down, drove 100 yards further, parked, opened hood. Flames were visible from under firewall below brake and clutch hydraulics and visible behind left front tire. Flame heights were ~6 - 10 inches. Moved other vehicles from area and extinguished fire with dry chemical extinguisher. Chrysler found clutch asy hose melted, evap hose melted, and fuel line damaged from fire. Chrysler replaced the hyd clutch acy, replaced evap hoses and flex fuel line. Chrysler did an independent special investigation and concluded they had "no manufacturing responsibility". Chysler submitted bill for $526. 54 to allstate. Allstate payed claim. Owner's opinion is that plastic clutch hydraulic line failed, spraying hydraulic fluid on nearby exhaust, igniting fluid and plastic parts and other flammable materials. Investigator photographed all critical areas but Chrysler did not return old parts.

6 Clutch problem of the 1998 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 12/29/2000

We traded our 1999 kia sportage for a 1998 Dodge Dakota truck 10-12-2000, at the central kia Subaru dealership in plano texas. We have had nothing but problems with this truck and we have spent over $800. 00 since we have had the truck. We contacted the kia dealership ph#972-422-5300, when we started having problems they told us that Dodge was responsible for any repairs etc. The truck is still under warranty we had driven the truck for one month when the problems started. The truck is a lemon and we are stuck with truck payments and we are in debt over the repairs we had to pay for out of our own pockets. This is not right and surely is not fair to us. We took the truck to bledsoe Dodge, inc. Ph#214-296-9800 @ marvin d. Love freeway dallas texas mr. Jim hurst spoke with us about the leaking brake fluid etc. And he told us that Dodge is not responsible for the repairs because we bought the truck from the kia dealership. So we had to pay $200. 00 to mr. Jim hurst at the Dodge dealership for brake repairs. We need some justice with this matter and you are the only people that we believe can help us with this matter. We need our money back that we have been out of because no one wants to take any responsibility for this lemon we have been stuck with. Please help us? sincerely yours mr. & mrs r. D. Leismer.

8 Clutch problem of the 2000 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 03/04/2000

Clutch failure (broken center) after only 45000 miles, also took out slave cylinder in the process. Vehicle was not used for towing (other than the occasional stalled car), the dealer had never seen this before and clutches were on a national back-order status. Problem manifest itself as a "cant get transmission into gear". Was intermittent also, problem would happen and not happen again for 2 months.

9 Clutch problem of the 1998 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 06/20/1999

1. Noise when releasing the clutch began during a vacation trip in June 1999, with approximately 15,500 miles on the odometer. Over the past 3 months the noise has become worse. The problem is being repaired by the dealer who sold me the truck. They said it was a bearing in the clutch assembly. Even though the warranty for the clutch is only 1 year the dealership is fixing it for me at no charge. 2. The original cab isolators had to be replaced due to the truck making a loud clunking noise whenever I turned a corner or entered/exited a driveway. After the first replacement the clunking still occurred so the truck went back in the shop where the dealer "shaved" the isolators. That didn't help so the truck went back a third time and another set of cab isolators were installed and the clunking sound did not occur again. To get this repair right required 3 trips to the dealership and a total of 14 days in the shop. 3. A leak of transmission fluid was detected during an oil and filter change on a vacation tr.

10 Clutch problem of the 1996 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 01/11/1999

1. The power steering high- pressure hose has an o-ring inside of the fitting that connects to the gearbox. The o-ring completely failed while driving causing difficult steering, which was very unexpected. Refilling the resevoir resulted in a high pressure spray of hydraulic fluid covering the entire engine compartment and lasting less than two miles with no turns. 2. The clutch does not disengage when the clutch pedal is pressed to the floor, there is plenty of fluid in the resevoir, and there is resistance when pressing the pedal. To down shift, I had to stop the engine, put the transmission in 1st gear push in the clutch, then start the engine. There is just enough clutch to keep the vehicle from moving if the brake is on. There were no previous warnings or indications that this failure was pending.
