Driver seat bracket broken, seat will tip back. Is a safety hazzard. Bracket made of aluminum, not strong enough for bracket material. Dealer claiming entire seat must be replaced at our cost of over $700. 00. Feel it is a part defect and safety hazzard, should be recalled.

2 Seat Broken problem of the 1997 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 04/24/2001

A part inside the front seat broke easily in rear end crash, front seat was occupied. Driver was going 12 mph when hit in the rear of the truck by a vehicle hit by a vehicle going 40 mph. The difference is only 28 mph and the seat broke, the driver fell straight back and was unconscious, sliding under the seatbelt towards the floor. The part of the seat that broke was defective.
