I received a safety recall on my vehicle in October, and it is now almost February and there is still no remedy. This safety recall is the transmission shift cable a0c. The recall states: "this can cause an unexpected and unrecoverable loss of park function and/or vehicle movement in an unintended direction which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning and/or injury to others outside the vehicle. " this is putting myself and others at risk. The dealership has confirmed the issue and has no remedy. They informed me to wait for the remedy. My vehicle has been developing the symptoms of this recall for about 3 years. The key gets stuck in the ignition, the car does not go into or out of park easily, it sticks. After I park my car rolls backwards. My vehicle does not feel like its in park. The shifter has become stiff and does not want to move. The form says " do not drive" on mopars official recall. I do not feel safe driving this car.
I came home from work, (drove 18 miles) and parked, walked towards my building and I heard a noise, as if something turned on under the hood. Like a electrical motor spinning. And it was not the fan because that one had already turned off. I walk back to the car and pop the hood, white smoke starts coming out and in less than 2 minutes a huge flame comes straight out from the passenger side of the hood. Called the fire department. Fire was on for 4 minutes, neighbor mechanics came running with fire extinguishers and put out the fire before the firefighters arrived. Too many parts melted and damaged. So far estimate is at $4,000. I do not have the estimate on paper, since at the moment I did not have budget to fix my car. My car was perfectly fine, services got done regularly. Never had issues other than wear and tear. I've had that car for almost 10 years.
The transmission shift cable does not work on the vehicle and will not shift out of gear, unable to use vehicle due to the break in the cable.
The car keeps stalling and several scans, thousands into repairs to include the dealership itself. I’m convinced that it’s one of the recalls power train and engine keeps randomly stalling. This is a huge safety concern that will result in an accident. It happens after start up, at stop lights and signs and randomly throughout driving. I don’t feel safe and I’m taking it back to the dealership to do the job right .
The Dodge Dart has a malfunction that might have contributed in many crashes this car has been involved in. The issue is that some Darts will experience a malfunction where the lights inside the car will randomly flicker (should they be on), digital dash will also flicker and navigation screen will either restart or just shut off. The biggest problem in all of this is that the power steering will always temporarily shut off and make it extremely hard to steer the car for a few seconds and this can happen during turns. The reset can also happen many times in a row forcing the power steering to be shut down for multiple seconds longer than the avg like 5-8 seconds. Within that reset all lights on the dash will flick on and off and if you have cruise control on, it will shut off permanently until you restart the car. Sometimes the reset doesn't successfully turn on and the navigation will remain off indefinitely and will blast hot air into your cabin forcing you to park and restart your car. If your Dart slows down to a stop the power steering will shut off forcing you to attempt to park your car with an extremely stiff power steering or you can restart your car for a chance to regain some assitance from the ps. Sometimes putting the car in reverse shuts off the car. The issue that the car displays when these errors occur is "service power steering" or "service electronic braking system" weird request when the braking is just fine. Dealership cannot diagnose this issue because the codes seemingly clear themselves as if nothing has ever happened. I have found a few others with similar issues to mine on reddit as well as the Dodge Dart forums. This issue also happens at random. There isn't a trigger or requirement for it to happen. You can be sitting at a parking lot with the car on in park and it might just reset itself for no reason and give you a stiff wheel.
The transmission gear is notb shiftingb and the car is cutting off oin the freeway and also at stop signs and stop lights. Oil changes and transmission fluids have been checked and changed problem still happening.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Dart. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph there was a loud abnormal "bang" sound and the vehicle lost forward momentum. The vehicle went dark, there was no electrical power, the vehicle would not start. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer who could not duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure occurred two more times, and had been able to drive the vehicle to the dealer, who was able to diagnose the failure on the third visit. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the onboard computer needed to be reset as well as the battery needed replacing. The vehicle had been repaired, however the contact stated that the vehicle failure had reoccurred. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,815. VIN unavailable.
When I start my car and depart the car feels like it is gonna die and when I accelerate the gears slip and the engine revs up when I am pressing on the brake and sometimes when I come to a complete stop after exiting the freeway my car dies and the battery light turns on and I have to put it in park and start the car again. . . .
Car not shifting gears correctly. Dodge Dart accelerating poorly to the point where driving can be extremely dangerous for everyone involved. Sometimes car will not go over 40mph which is extremely dangerous. Car jerks and surges forward. Constant problems with transmission and gears. Car looses horsepower going up hills to the point where it can back into cars behind me. Gas mileage extremely high constant trips to gas stations to refuel car. Car has been to dealership shop multiple times for transmission and engine problems but the car still has the same issues nothing is getting fixed car is unfit to and is a safety hazard to all on roads. Dealership doesn’t care as long as they get their money. Engine light and slip light constant on. The car is dangerous to and dealer won’t issue me refund or any other car. I’m scared for my safety everytime I drive this car. Car will randomly cut off in middle of traffic. I will have to turn car on and off just to get it to come back on. I’m praying this car doesn’t kill me or someone else. Dealer doesn’t care multiple trips to dealer for repairs nothing gets fix’s just more problems after another.
On December 13, 2021 my 2016 Dodge Dart shut down while driving and would not start back up. Had it towed to a repair shop, they could not duplicate the problem. I contacted Chrysler and the agent who helped me said there is no known issues with this particular vehicle. I found at that was a lie with a little google search. Picked my vehicle up and immediately took it to the Dodge dealership. They checked the oil level and it was so low that the tech said that if it would have been driven much longer it would have completely disabled the engine. No oil light, oil was changed recently, no reason for this to have happened. Found out there was a campaign to update software to the pcm module so that was completed along with an oil change. This created a completely unsafe situation, luckily there was very little traffic on the roadway at the time. Vehicles with this issue should be recalled or the engine needs to be replaced.
Major oil leak at the turbo.
The car stops unexpectedly. It smoked the other day. I don't know what fuel. The gas cap says 85 but the dealer never told me this. The lighting and inside above. Falls out like it has been tampered with. It doesn't run properly. Sometimes it just stops and won't stop. Like it's a bate car. Used by cops. But I wasn't informed when I was sold the car.
The vehicle got too hot, almost all the electric system of the car had very little energy and blinked, the air conditioning takes a long time to work either to defog the windows, heat or cool. The radio is not working properly. Lights are not level. Emergency equipment is missing as well as an emergency repair tire. And also when I am driving it accelerates and brakes automatically and suddenly. Since I bought this car it has given me many mechanical problems.
Driving my Dodge Dart on the freeway and it staled out almost caused me to get in a car accident this happed on the freeway to me more then once took it in to dealership and now they are telling me I need my engine replaced I did the best care of the Dart all the oil changes and everything were always done to a t Dodge saying it will cost 8000. 00 to get a new engine only had the Dodge Dart 2016 for 2 years had to get it towed.
All the lights in the vehicle vent out, the digital dashboard the touch screen everything that lights up went out. The motor almost died and started to sputter. When I accelerate it has no power then it will take off then no power. When I am stopped the idle is so low it almost dies and the entire car shakes very hard. This started while I was driving at about 30 mph.
Multiple times 4 to be exact my vehicle has shut down while driving with no warning. This seems to be an issue with many of these from my research. Once I was getting on an expressway and was almost hit another time was turning on a busy street almost being hit luckily I was not. The first time this happened I had the car about 3 months after purchasing new. The last time it happened was this September. The dealership has done nothing and says they know it happens but nothing they can do for it. Are they waiting for someone to be killed before dealing with this issue ?.
Tl- the contact owns a 201 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while her son was driving at 10 mph, the people in the vehicle behind saw unknown liquid pouring down from underneath the vehicle and the vehicle immediately went into flamed. The driver got out without injuries. The police and the fire department were at the scene. The fire department extinguished the fire. A police report was filed. The vehicle was totaled and was towed to a tow yard. The dealer was not called. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000. Fe.
While driving the vehicle it will randomly have complete loss of power without warning and the battery light would turn on.
Car randomly shuts off while driving, whether it is in motion or stationary. Happens on streets and when turning. Bought the car brand new and we have brought the car to the dealership twice for this issues. They can not tell us what is wrong or what is causing this. After today's visit I stated to them that this will not happen again right, and I was told l cant promise you that, and that they do not know what is causing the problem. I said that I have seen on the internet reports of this happening to the same type of car and why is there not a recall .
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Dodge Dart. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle seized without warning. The contact received assistance from a bystander who placed the vehicle in neutral, which returned it back to normal operation. The vehicle was taken to dan deery Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram fiat (4320, 3900 alexandra dr, waterloo, IA 50702, (319) 233-5000) several times where it was diagnosed that oil needed to be added to the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
My son parked the vehicle after driving it approximately 2 miles. He went into his dorm room and was informed shortly after that his car was on fire. The engine had ignited.
When my oil life goes below 35% the engine will shut of while I am driving. It mostly happens when making a turn. It does restart after about 2 minutes and cranking the engine.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Dart. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, the engine temperature warning light illuminated on the instrument panel and the throttle warning light also illuminated on the instrument panel causing the vehicle to go into limp mode. The contact stated that the vehicle then started losing motive power. The vehicle was taken to advance auto and diagnosed with a faulty thermostat. The contact was informed that the thermostat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed by an authorized dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
On a daily bases my car will not start. (mornings before work, evenings after work, when ever I stop the car and come back to it. ) I must start the car with a jump machine whenever I turn it off. Today the radio started going out. Once the radio goes out it feel like it wants to cut off in motion, on the street.
Engine randomly turns off while driving. Car must be pulled over, and transmission put in park or neutral in order to restart the vehicle.
The vehicle kept turning off while driving. It happened more often when vehicle was cold. Checked the battery and alternator at a mechanic and all was fine. Its a problem with engine oil. The car consumes oil at a rate of approximately 1 quarts per every 500 miles. When the oil reaches low levels, the vehicle will turn off while driving causing the steering wheel to get stiff and difficult to hit the breaks.
Thermostat failed at 47k miles on a 2016 Dart. This should have been covered under engine warranty but wasn't. The 2. 4l has a history of thermostat failings and our dealership replaces them constantly.
Vehicle has had issues from about 1300 miles . The car will randomly shut off while driving with no warning signs and has a hard time restarting , if it will restart. The car has been back to the dealer several times and diagnosed and they can not find the anything in the computer system or figure out whats wrong . I was told be the dealer that it is acceptable for the car to consume up to 1 quart of oil every thousand miles or so . The only information I was given is that it is a known oil problem and that fca (fiat Chrysler automotive) is not willing to do anything about the matter . The vehicle now has about 41 thousand miles on it and is back at the dealership for further testing . This has not only cost me extra money but has created major safety concerns , I had broken down while getting on and off of the highway with my family in the car and have been stuck on or in the middle of the road several times . These 2. 4l fiat motors are extremely unsafe ! I have told Dodge I refuse to drive the car until they fix the issue , also I would not accept the same car as a loaner due to the fact that the last loaner car I had similar to mine also had the same issue at the last service .
Their were poisonous fumes coming out of the heater, coolant, and radio speaker systems, the vehicle burned too much gas, their was no acceleration in long distance {in ref a seaside university section 8 housing survey}, the dealership wouldn't offer diagnostic and warranty service; after I gave them alot of money they told me not to come back to their lot; I gave them the car back; and told the judges to tell them to return all the money I gave them back into my bank account: king county superior court case # 17-2-24602-6 sea filed in seattle.
Unknown.
This 2016 Dart gt has been in for service 13 times since it was purchased in March. The body connector has corroded twice and been replaced along with several corroded wires. The telematics module was also replaced after it tested inconsistent and working only 20% of the time (this is for the uconnect and bluetooth). If you hit 10mph sometimes it likes to accelerate without even touching the gas! while starting the car it now likes to say the keyfob has not been detected even when the key fob is right by the keyless start. The wireless receiver was replaced but it said key fob not detected again. This will make service visit #14! this car has serious computer/electrical issues. The keyfob not being detected issue could be deadly if it does it while the car is being driven and makes the car inoperable.
Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle would suddenly shut off. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer kendal Dodge (13355 s. W. 137th Ave, miami FL) who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 1000. Jft.
On a city street, tried to accelerate at a stop light with the brake on. Would not accelerate turning left in oncoming traffic. Intermittenly (hops) in motion exiting a highway, upon braking I traffic, stopped at a traffic light and in the driveway with the key removed. Tachometer has redlined (6500 rpm + ) moving in traffic at 46 mph on level road and upon take off from a red light. Tachometer has revved to 5500 rpm's on the down side of a hill when on cruse control multiple times when on the highway. The car has jerked severely driving down the highway at approximately 70 mph. Intermittently the climate control has difficulty in making a decision on the selection I made and has taken approximately 5 min before the air ( fan ) will engage. All dash lights have flashed when the key fob was pushed to unlock the doors. The auto door locks have failed to lock properly and engaged at 40 mph. The list is longer but my feeling is it is a computer problem and service says there is no code so no problem found. It has been in service 6 times that have been documented. My fear is this car is so defective and is going to kill me and possibly others if the computer fails with the steering or braking. The issues started @ 500 miles on the car, it now has 1900.
