While driving on an interstate highway at 65 miles per hour the engine shut down and I pulled off onto the shoulder. After sitting for about 5 minutes I tried the ignition key and the engine started and I continued on my way.

The transmission shift selector sometimes won't engage in park. This hasn't caused a problem yet. However I am very careful to set the parking brake so that the vehicle doesn't roll away. I called Chrysler to inquire about a recall that affected many 2002 Durangos that had a similar issue. They said my vehicle was not part of the recall even though I am having a similar problem.

Beginning in April 2012 it was extremely hard to get gear shift out of park you had to attempt this several times this occurred every so often there was no significant routine. We took this to Dodge in gainesville several different trips and it would not repeat the problem for them. Starting around December of 2014 the vehicle would come out of park all by itself while parked and with the vehicle off then we would have trouble getting the key out or the vehicle back into park. This happens constantly and we are now scared to drive it. I called Chrysler and they said there was a recall of this nature but not on my vehicle. I find this hard to accept considering it is doing the exact same failure of other Durango's from this manufacture date. Please respond and let me know if I should junk my only vehicle or get a second mortgage to have repaired. On a second request I also had a windshield wiper motor replaced and was charged apparently there was a recall on that but gainesville Dodge doesn't cover recalls ? is this normal or are the dishonest.
Transmission and power train broke. Pieces of it were later found on the road. Transmission melted and caught fire, and later the whole vehicle was engulfed in flames and smoke. By the time firefighters had arrived , the whole vehicle front was burnt down. The vehicle was totaled.
My vehicle gets stuck in park. The situation has occurred on numerous occasions to the extent of 5 or 6 times a year. The car is completely inoperable when this happens. Our solution, as recommended by a mechanic, was to bang on the steering wheel until it frees itself, but the most recent occurrence was unable to be resolved in this manner. My vehicle is of a year and model (2002 Dodge Durango) that has had a recall for the shifter lock situation (g28), but Dodge has informed me that my vehicle does not qualify for repair. I have searched automobile sites on the internet and a number of folks have had the same problem as mine exhibits and have been able to get it repaired under the recall notice, yet mine gets denied. I had to have the vehicle towed to the dealer this morning due to this failure and will, no doubt, have to pay to get it back, but I feel my vehicle should be included in the recall repairs as announced.

While travelling down i94 at highway speed my 2002 dodg Durango engine seized forcing us to coast to the side of the highway. The dealership said that this was caused due to lack of maintainance ie. Oil changes which is not the case as I did the maintained oil changes. In doing research I have found that this vehicle is prone to oil sludge. Nothing has been done as of right now to rectify the situation.
