1 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2020

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that his battery had died upon start of his vehicle. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who was able to recharge the battery. Months later, the contact stated that the same failure recurred. The contact had the vehicle jump started and taken back to his independent mechanic who charged the battery again. Due to the ineffectiveness of the charge, the mechanic replaced the battery. Upon research, the contact discovered that the change over motor linked to the four-wheel drive feature could engage independently while the vehicle was turned off. The contact then linked his failure of his vehicle due to the fact that he could hear an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle once the vehicle was turned off. The contact also stated that the svc 4wd service light would illuminate intermittently upon start of the vehicle. Gill Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (1100 s madera Ave, madera, CA 93637) was notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 138,000.

2 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2015

Opened the drivers door after a storm and observed standing water in the drivers side floorboard. Tried to start but the battery was dead. (daily driver w battery @ 1yr old). Placed battery on a charger and was able to start motor. Engine was reving between idle and 1500 rpm rapidly and would not respond to throttle inputs. Instrument cluster lights all on and navigation display was on but not legible. Looked for the source of the water, and it appears to be coming from around the drivers side front pillar area and leaking down the inside kick panel.

3 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2014

I wanted to share with you my recent experience at my local Dodge dealer, spartanburg Chrysler Dodge Jeep first, I will never go to spartanburg Dodge again, for anything. They tried to charge me to correct a NHTSA recall (instrument cluster fire hazard), which they did complete. My cluster still tells me there are problems with 2 systems my vehicle does not have installed. Regarding the 2nd recall I had them address (fuel tank replacement). I brought me vehicle in with nearly a half tank of gas, when I picked it up it had approximately 1/2 gal. My on board computer told me I had 0 miles to empty. I was told they had no way to transfer the fuel from the old tank to the new, which is bs. They have to get the fuel out of the tank as it is against the law to dispose of the fuel, I suspect someone got a free fill up. In addition, I had the dealer had my vehicle for 4 days and still have not resolved the recall. When I came to pick my vehicle up the second time, they tried to charge me over $100 dollars for a "diagnostic fee" for rechecking the recall on the cluster, but I later found out they didn't do anything at all to the cluster the second time. When I told them I would not pay for the recall to be fixed they threatened to keep my vehicle, upon calling the sheriff's office to retrieve my property they changed their mind. They brought me the keys to my vehicle and pointed me in the direction of it. When I found it, the battery was dead from a light left on, no one came to help me get the vehicle started. I had to call my wife to come and give me a jump start. I would like to have this instrument cluster replaced as it should have been the first time per the recall. Thank you jamie allen.

4 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2009

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for recall repairs. Prior to the repairs, the vehicle was performing normally. When she retrieved the vehicle from the dealer, the battery failed. The dealer recharged the battery, but the vehicle stalled while the contact was driving home. She attempted to re-charge the battery at a local service station, but was unsuccessful. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer and they stated that she needed to purchase a replacement battery. The contact was able to borrow a battery from the dealer. The current and failure mileages were less than 59,000. Updated 8/7/09 the vehicle was left at a local store and towed the next day. The consumer stated the vehicle was normal before she took it the dealership. Updated 08/11/09.
