Vehicle spontaneously caught on fire while I was at an atm. No known cause. The vehicle was in good condition for its age with no major repairs needed and no significant body damage. There had been no major mechanical changes to the vehicle during the time I owned it. It was used regularly with appropriate oil changes and repairs as needed and had otherwise been safe to drive. I was unable to extinguish the fire. Thomson-mcduffie fire and ems was called to extinguish flames. Vehicle was totally destroyed/irreparable. This has been a devastating financial blow to me as a single parent as due to the age of the car, it was only insured for collision. It was also a terrifying experience.
Stalls when driving. No warning, steering and brakes do not work when this happens. No warning, no warning lights. After taking to multiple mechanics to try and find the issue, no matter the tune up or replacements, continues to stall. Will stall mid driving, when stopped at red light and gas is pressed to proceed, stalls, stalls when sitting in line waiting. This is very scary and should be recalled by Dodge. After reading that this happens often with this make and model. I purchased in 2017, to this day it keeps happening.
Past couple of weeks my 4lo light flashes, tries to go into 4wd on its own, makes clicking noise even when not running,4lock in slow turns or backing up. Transfer case will engage by itself while driving, or engage when unlocking or locking the doors, or opening the doors. Even after it has been turned off it will try and engage, with sitting there and no one having touched it. This morning, when I put it in reverse, it made a loud noise and it was hard to back out of my garage, 4 lo light flashes.
All of a sudden on 6/3/2020 my ignition switch decided to stop working to the point I was stranded at the grocery store because none of my keys wanted to work in the ignition,I couldn't turn my wheel to unlock I couldn't start my vehicle at all.
My 2005 Dodge Durango 5. 7 4wd hemi, has been kicking itself into 4 wd, 4 lo and even neutral while driving down the highway. The car will be off and you can hear mechanical mechanisms at work. The vehicle going into neutral has happened only while driving on the highway and the the other shifts happen all the time no matter what the vehicle is doing parked driving or no key.
2005 Dodge Durango limited 5. 7. My Durango locks its self into 4x4 on it's own. I cant disengage it. This happens either sitting still or driving down the road. I have carried it to the local dealership and they charged me $2210+tax to fix the issue. They said it was the front control module and the wiring harness. I got my truck back and it was still locking in 4x4. I carried it back and they said the wiring harness is discontinued so they repaired the wire to the transfercase and they said when they fix a wire it causes another to go out so they fixed it once again and said I can no longer use the warranty on it because it will only continue to happen and they will have to start charging me every time but when I got it back I went to the gas station and it locked in 4x4 when I was turning into traffic which caused me to turn wide causing me to pull into on coming traffic almost having a head on collision. I need this problem resolved. This happens on city streets and highway, it can occur sitting still or moving.
Randomly stalls during turns or coasting.
Takata recall # 16v-352 manufacturer recall #543 regarding the failure of air bag deployment effecting by extreme humity.
Car going into svc 4wd while driving atlow and high speeds when you use the remote to lock andunlock car you can hear it clicking into 4wd hard to turn making clunking noise while in svc.
I was driving my vehicle while conducting a u-turn on boulder highway and the car shut off right in the middle of the street. Oncoming traffic was luckily able to see that my car was stopped and avoided hitting my vehicle which was stopped between two lanes. After a few min I was able to get the car to restart.
4 wheel drive engages by its self. Srv4wd light comes on, and it clicks when car isn't running. And when it is running, going slow in the city or going 75 down the highway. There is a ton of complaints on this situation with the 2005 Dodge Durango.
Upon filling the gas tank since the first time on June 15, 2017, and every time since then, the fuel always spits back, and all over the place, including on the gas attendant, upon any one walking by, on the car, and of course, on the ground. It may or may not be the fuel tank inlet check valve (fuel filler tube), but the dangerous safety issue remains. I have read that 20,000 Durangos have been recalled from 2005 for this issue, but for reasons unknown, even though my 2005 Durango also has this dangerous safety problem, I am told by the dealer that my 2005 Durango has not been recalled. If for some reason it has not been recalled, it obviously should be recalled because it has the same exact issue that the other 2005 Durangos have been recalled for. So why not mine?.
Pulled into a parking lot and in park the car stalled, restarted it and it stalled again, did this 3 times in lot. Car stalled making a left hand turn lost all powers but restarted again, nothing on instrument panel. Car stalled on deceleration coming to red light lost brakes and steering rolled to stop to start it again, lucky did not hit anyone. Have had this checked out numerous times but error is not being picked up by the electronics monitoring on the car. This not only happened today it has happened on numerous occasions Dodge/Chrysler needs to figure out how to correct this problem!!!.
My Durango has been turning off and I just turned today and it turned off twice on me and a car almost hit me. . And then 1 time same day a few minutes later on a red light. . Just started to make stalling movements nad then turned off. . . Three times it turned off while I was on my way to get my son from schoo. . . All 3 times within less than 40 min. . I am told that Dodge has not had a recall on it. . Im scared to drive it !!!.
My Durango stalled twice yesterday, 2/16/17, as I was idling while stopped. It gave no warning lights, no sputtering, just quietly shut itself off. My power steering went out. I had to put the vehicle into park to restart it. When I went inside a store, it would not restart for a half hour after returning to my vehicle. Then I drove home fine. We replaced the get valve when I got home. The next morning, the Durango shut itself off while I was moving, going uphill, not on a curve, in my subdivision. My power steering went out. I was able to coast toward the curb, put it into park, and restart it. I am scared to death to drive it after reading that others have had the same problem with this make and model.
Shifts from awd to 4lock and 4low on it's own while parked or even when driving down the road. Also, can hear the transfer case trying to shift even when the vehicle is off.
I have a 2005 Dodge Durango with the 5. 7 hemi engine. . It has 80,000 miles and just recently the engine started shutting off at random times when driving, mostly when I hit a bump in the road. . I have researched this with the national highway safety board website and see there is a hundreds of complaints from feburary 2005 thru present . . There was an investigation opened in 2005 pe05-027 then it was transferred to an engineering analysis ( ea05-018) and then nothing. . I would like to know if the NHTSA dropped the ball on this?? there is no further answers to the complaint. . Please advise me what do I have to do to get a n answer to this problem, which is a manufactures error that is going to get me killed or someone else.
Egr valve and evap.
Fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly fuel leakage while filling gas with gas expelling out of fuel tank inlet valve every time I fill gas!!! I brought my vehicle in may 9, 2016 to replace the driver airbag recall and this dealer said that they inspected the fuel tank NHTSA #05v-034 and never mentioned that they did this upon my visit for the airbag. Then I printed out the report on recalls for my vehicle on September 26, 2016 and fremont Dodge dealership documented that it was completed and inspected on September 26, 2016, which I never visited the dealrship on that day. I printed out my carfax history with no actual prove that it has ever been fixed. . I bought this vehicle used in latter part of 2014 and been having serious problems with the fuel leakage when filling gas. Please advise me of what to do next. Thank you.
When I drive my 2005 Dodge Durango it will stall randomly and die. I lose power steering an it is very dangerous for me my wife an daughter. It happens when I'm at low speeds. Or come to a stop at idle. I need help with this issues. I noticed there are slot of similar complaints on this exact subject. Is there anything tha can be done to fix this issue?.
My Durango has only 28,000 mi. Drove about 2 mi. For my pt and an hour later I could not get my Durango started after several attempts. Called a tow company and had my car towed to a licensed mechanic. After the vehicle sat for about 6 hours, the mechanic started the car and said he can not find anything wrong so take the car home. I went on line and found a website where people shared their experiences with their 2005 Durango and I am very, very afraid to drive my car now. They wrote that they have had experiences when the engine would stall while driving on the road. What is going on? no recall for this problem/phenomena?.
My truck has 133000 miles and stalled again today while operating uphill at about 20mph. This is about the 20th time in last 5-7 years. Whats Dodge waiting for to fix this, blogs all over report same issue. Need a fix ASAP. Have owned car since new at 12 miles on odometer.
I was on my way home from work when I heard a loud clicking noise . I also noticed there are a lot of problems with this truck . I recently bought it and I looked online almost everything I saw was bad . These trucks need to be rebuilt or repair right .
I recently purchased my 2005 Dodge Durango and when I fill vehicle full of fuel it always spills out it never shuts off. Fuel spills all over. I can not tell when it is about full and it should always detect when it is full and kick off but it just keeps going out on ground and all over until I can stop it. I noticed at one time there was a recall for this same issue on the 2005 Dodge Durango XLT and was afraid this vehicle did not get the recall fixed.
While driving at variable speeds my 2005 Dodge Durango slt 5. 7l truck, without warning, will shut-off making it hard to stop & steer to safety. This has happened several times but the most recent & severe time was yesterday, I was at a speed of 55 mph on 695 when my Durango shut-off without warning. I was able to pull onto the shoulder without causing a accident. My Dodge was able to restart without warning lights flashing or indication but will randomly shut-off without warning at least 4-6 times a week while driving.
My Durango has started to switch to 4wheel drive on it's own while I'm driving and especially while turning. It makes steering and maneuvering the vehicle very difficult and nearly caused an accident in heavy traffic.
The vehicle has begun to switch itself into 4wd while driving at low speeds, usually during or shortly after an extended turn such as a ramp. No indicator lights come on but I believe based on the way it drives that it must be in 4lo. Once the vehicle is in 4wd it will not respond to the 4wd switch and so far it has taken turning the vehicle off to disengage the 4wd. The svc 4wd light has come on 3-4 times, but not in conjunction with the other issue, and not for more than 2 minutes at a time.
I have not had a accident thank god. I brought my 2005 Dodge Durango february2, 2015. Make a long story short with in the past 2 month I have had to have my tank dropped 3 times now I have to have it dropped again so this will be the forth time &my truck wil not start &the pump is not coming on. I got a letter about the airbags recalls, my question is have it ever been a recall on the computer or the electrical system for this SUV? I think my whole fuel system is messed up cause when I go to fill it up gas come shotting back out the tank at me & I see it was a recall on that & I have not recieved my letter to go have it checked out. Please please please help.
The transfer case shifts by its self. The vehicle shifts into lock all on it's own, then the svc 4wd light comes on. Sometimes when the vehicle is turned off you can hear the transfer shift back and forth from awd to 4 lock now its stuck in 4lo this happens stationary and in motion.
I went to fill my tank up on saterday March 7th 2015. I just purchase the vehicle that day. Gass started spurting out of the tank and got all over my hands. I then took the vehicle out for a drive on Sunday morning with my girlfriend and the vehicle stalled and I almost rolled back on the the car behind men. This happens two more times throughout the day. Then today Tuesday March 10th I drove to my parents and noticed the car sputtering upon gradual aceleration.
Hi, I could not access the odometer fraud section so here is my question. How is it that the dept of motor vehicle in tallahassee that issues title do not do anything about odometer rollback, I thought that was illegal. I purchased an SUV and much later I discovered there is a discrepancy in the odometer from carfax history. Doesn't this issue show up when the dmv is doing a title for a new owner when they enter the VIN and mileage from the bill of sale? why is this illegality allowed to happen, do they just issue a title for a stolen vehicle?.
Transfer case make noise when park engages from underneath has trouble moving seems stuck in 44 can't not drive my truck due to this don't want to put my kids in danger always engaging into 44 and makes it hard for me to turn.
Service 4wd light came on,and goes into lo 4wd when going slow, also making clicking noise when vehicle is not running like it's trying to engage into 4wd,scared this is going to go into lo and cause a severe accident, nobody seems to know what to do to correct the problem.
Was driving on the freeway. The service 4wd light started flashing, and the transmission shifted into 4lo by itself. All efforts to shift back out of 4lo failed. Had the vehicle towed. Service shop diagnosed transfer case as the problem, and replaced it. The problem persists. Vehicle continues to shift into 4lo by itself which impacts the ability to turn the vehicle.
Vehicle would high idle then when put in gear it would not take gas and would continue to run even after putting it in park and turning the key off and taking it out. This is a very serouis problem I would like an investigation to see if anyone else has had this same problem. I would like a response please this scares me alot.
