general problems of the 2012 Dodge Durango - part 1

There have been several times where I am stopped at a light or stop sign and the car stalls. It happens when I try to start going from the stop, not while I'm stopped. I believe this an issue that has been recalled already, but obviously, it did not fix the problem. My vehicle will also not turn over sometimes. It just continually try to turn over multiple times and I have to wait for it to stop on its own before I can try again.

My vehicle has had recalls performed multiple times since 1st purchased in 2012. The issue was vehicle stalling. At 1st Chrysler / Dodge addressed it as issues upon start up where the vehicle sounded as though it was skipping when hitting the ignition button. They attempted to remedy this with multiple fuel pump relay recalls. They attempted to do internal which did not work. They then went external which also did not work. Nothing was ever formerly recognized as a suitable resolution, so any of us dealing with this were just forgotten. Well I still have this vehicle and it has gotten worse to the point the vehicle will randomly stall while in motion as it did the other day and on multiple other occasions. Under braking conditions the vehicle stalls where everything on the dash appears normal electronically, there is just no power and the steering locks up. I have addressed this multiple times with Dodge customer service as well as my local dealership. The dealership does not want to attempt any repairs because they want to be paid and the manufacturer is not entertaining it. I am aware the vehicle is out of warranty but I am not paying for something the manufacturer has known about since first purchased. There has been no further actions by the manufacturer to address this. They have moved on to newer existing Durango models.

The 2014 through 2018 3. 6l pentastar motors are covered under a tech service bulletin for their drivers side valve train being manufactured incorrectly. This can lead to a misfire and hesitation to accelerate in an emergency. This happened to me recently and I thought it was just a bad spark plug. Mechanic did a full check and believes there is a stuck valve in the engine on the exact same side that the 2014 to 2018 motors are prone to failure. I believe the 2012 and 2013 engines are also prone to the same failures as their newer counter parts. As I was trying to accelerate to avoid an incident my car stuttered and started to misfire badly. Almost causing a collision. This happened without warning and never previously had this issue. Vehicle was completely mechanically sound before this. This can happen without any warning or signs its going to happen. And after bringing the vehicle to a mechanic and doing much of my own research it appears that the drivers side of the 3. 6l v6 in my vehicle is currently under a TSB for the #2,4,6 cylinder head. This can cause the vehicle to have no power for a moment which if I were merging onto the highway and lacked powered could result in a rear end collision. Believe this is a safety issue as well as mechanical issue.

I came into dealership for scheduled service appointment on Apr 5, 2023 10:30:00 am at edwards cdjr of omaha to get recall fixed on fuel pump relay and an oil change after receiving my 2012 Dodge Durango citadel back my lights randomly starting blanking and my vehicle stalled and it wouldn’t start or turn over. So I spoke to service rep curt at edwards cdjr of omaha 17950 burt st and had the car towed back to the dealership that fixed on it edwards cdjr of omaha. I was originally told they didn’t have a loaner to lend to me so I can continue being a caregiver to my mother and transport her and my 7 children around until 04/21/2023 and that someone would call me that day to pickup a loaner vehicle. I called on 04/21/2023 about the loaner and they said someone would call me by midday to pick up a loaner. Now it’s Monday 04/24/2023 and I get a text stating 10 things are wrong with my vehicle in this link https://c. Xtime. Com/vkepcy2nkaoa2l4fxx including the pcm, which was more items then what was originally stated when they had inspected my vehicle on 04/05/2023 during the recall fix. So I informed them that, “ I will not pay for the pcm to be fixed because this issue is a result of whoever was the mechanic that was originally supposed to fix the recall fuel pump relay, so your shop has to fix it due to negligence on your mechanic's fault. I don't want to have to take anyone to court or give this issues to an attorney, this was sent to better business bureau because I have been left without transportation and facing economic hardship due to this situation. ” then they had their service manager brent pearson reach out to me over the phone, and he said that he spoke to three on-site master mechanic at the dealership and they all said the pcm had nothing to do with the fuel pump relay recall. I asked about escalating the issue and submitting an incident report to an higher up authority, he said he can’t. I asked again about the loaner he said there’s no loaner available.

Vehicle has been recalled 2 separate times for fuel pump wiring harness which causes no start and possible stall. Vehicle is still having no start issues after being serviced for recall.

My 2012 Dodge Durango has been experiencing reaccering issues associated with the tipm and fuel pump relay. The truck will stall, hard crank or simply not crank at all; leaving me stranded sometimes. This electrical issue also affects the fog lights, front lights, brake lights and turn signals; causing them to not work; putting me in danger of a collision on the highway or city street. This tipm and fuel pump relay have been under several recalls over the past 8 years and Dodge actually lost a class action lawsuit in 2015 in reference to this issue. I had just picked my car up from getting brakes and an inspection (obviously passed). I was driving home and there was smoke from under the hood with an electrical fire smell. My dash went crazy then I completly lost power. I had no stearing or brakes- couldn't even put on my hazards or roll down the window down to tell cars behind me to pass me. I immediatly called the garage that had just done the work to get it towed. They called today and told me that the alternator blew up and fried the battery and possible the computer (tip module??) I looked up recalls and noticed that there has been problems with this happening but my VIN didn't come up for this. I just wanted to check into the recall before I spent thousands of dollars.

Had the recall for shutting down repair again and still having the same problem. I've spent over $2000 in diagnosed fees with dealership and private shops and still having the same problem. Yes the fuel pump relay was replaced 2 times. Still having the same problem it will start back up but locks the steering wheel to where you can't turn it. Which almost was in a accident but was able to stop before. It's happens every month but was told not to bring it back to the dealership as they cant find the problem as all recalls were repaired.

I am trying to submit a report that a dealer is not providing me service for a recall but there isn't a link to do so, only a missive telling me that I should. I am being told by the dealer that the parts to fix the fuel pump relay problem on the 2012 Dodge Durango are in a national shortage at the moment but they will not provide me with documentation that proves this so I am unable to ship my vehicle home.

Potential odometer rollback indicated per carfax, engine failure. Ohio department of public safety, bureau of motor vehicles did conduct a ohio out of state vehicle inspection on 03/14/2022 @ bmv investigations d-2@ 1583 alum creek drive and inspector sol lopez has verified rollback. I recently purchased a vehicle March 2, 2021. I noticed that the vehicle has 3 recalls. The dealer that I purchased the vehicle from didn't have any immediate availability to fix the vehicle. So I made an appointment with Dodge dealership. My car was at facility 2 days. Once I picked up vehicle they informed me they couldn't fix two of the recalls. Jason ( service guy) informed me that he would update me. Well a month latter he tells me that the parts aren't there yet . Chrysler hasn't released the parts yet.

The recall v62 has been known for 2 years. No parts are available to fix the recall. My vehicle is non-driveable at the dealership waiting on a part to fix it that is "unavailable". No rental was offered nor any time frame of when the part would be available was given.

It took 30 minutes for my husband to crank my car. He had to tap on relays in the fuse box to get it going. The car was parked in the driveway and had not been driven since the prior evening. Went to the dealership to ask about recall and they said Chrysler had not come up with a fix yet. So the question is. What do we do if we keep having issues?.

Vehicle wouldn't start I spent half an hour trying to get it to start call Dodge dealership they dont have a part for this problem it's not safe and very embarrassing my biggest fear is getting stranded somewhere I have been dealing with this problem since last year.

My vehicle stalls after starting then continuously turns over until I push the ignition button multiple times until it turns off. I have had this issue since April of 2018. The vehicle has been to the dealer multiple times for this with no repair available. Now there is a recall issued on the fuel relay switch(which was fixed a few years ago for the same problem. ) and again no repair available. This is very unsafe and quite embarrassing when I am trying to start my vehicle. How long do we have to wait?.

First started with locks on doors, then fuel gage now does not start at all. Electric lights would just start going on & off while driving it would slow down and could not pick up speed sometimes while driving on street.

I purchased my 2012 Dodge Durango, used, with approximately 75k miles. Since purchasing the vehicle, I've experienced numerous problems that began with the transmission. Additionally, the car goes into "low gear" even when you don't turn the knob. Over the past year, the car has been in the shop more times than I can count for the doors locking and unlocking on their own. I haven't been able to lock the doors when in public. My key fob hasn't worked even after replacing the battery inside. The car has set the alarm off even when unprompted. It will lock/unlock while driving. The car has stalled, while driving, at least 3 times since November 2019. For each occurrence, the vehicle was slowing/excelling with a traffic light or to turn into a parking lot. On one occasion, the car would not crank over and a red light was blinking on the dash. The lock issue began happening again and I could not get it started. It had been stationary. When I came back to the vehicle later, it worked fine with no red light. The mechanics noticed the temperamental problems but could not get the vehicle to consistently repeat the problem. I've also replaced the water pump and had issues with the air conditioning. At this moment, it doesn't want to work for the driver's spot only.

Engine shuts off while driving without any warning. Will restart. Dangerous can cause crash. Has been previously recalled for this problem and the repair doesn't solve issue.

I parked my car at home. In the morning when I pressed the start switch to start the car crank, and it does not start. I wait a minute press the start switch again and the car keeps cranking no stopping until I move my gear from park to reverse. I remove the switch and I add my car key and try again with car key. After 3 times the car starts. I know there's a recall or lawsuit for this issue. I want my car fixed with no cost for me. I maintain my car in good shape and urge to get this done. This started this week 12/17/18.

My Durango had been repaired per recall r09, and now the vehicle is doing the same thing as it was before the repair, which is have failed starts, and the engine shutting down while driving ( very dangerous especially on the freeway).

I've have an ongoing problem with the check engine light and feeling like the truck is going to stahl. Can't remote start my truck because of this problem. I've taken it to get repaired several times for the same issue and still have not fixed the problem. I just got my truck back on 10/25/19 and didn't drive it until Monday 10/18/19 and check engine light came back on and feeling like it's going to stahl. I want my truck to be repaired already.

Car not starting acts like not getting any fuel or may start and die like not getting enough fuel. Auto headlights will shut off while driving or may not come on at all.

The battery gets drain out without warning it happens once or twice a month lately it's happening more often, my truck won't start even if the day before was running battery was check and it's fine. Check engine light it's on now once the truck didn't want to turn on. Took it to a mechanic and he said it was a relay issue. Brakes are in the recall VIN check list along one other recall. The lights inside turn on and off as well as if there is a short going on while in driving mode it feels like the truck is loosing power even though it has gas. I'm afraid to drive it.

My Dodge Durango stopped working one week ago. At that time I looked online to find the alternator recall but that they would be notifying people at a later date. For a week they had my car and replaced the alternator knowing Dodge had bad alternators and made me purchase a battery. My car again died the same day after my partner left the lot. After it was again towed for the second time they found that my car was now under the recall even though I had already told them there was an issue with my car. The website states there is no solution to the problem and now I am stuck with a broken car with my car value dropping significantly. Dodge needs to refund me the money I have already spent plus mileage and gas communiting to and from viera to titusville florida driving my partner to work and picking my son up from school and going back and forth and emotional distress. This company should be ashamed of themselves. I am now stuck with a rental car and left in the dark as to what is happening to my car. In a separate incident I paid out almost 1,000 to go out to my car at the dealership to find it did not work. At that time the man walked inside and came back out with a piece for the fuel relay recall. I again want to know why this Dodge dealership continues to charge me and play me for a fool. Dodge should be embarrassed. How does someone now check for recalls before operating on a vehicle?.

Check engine light on. Test ran. Detector-evaporative system issue. Detector valve faulty. Leak coming from gas cap and esim correction. Replaced esim seal and gas cap. There was a recall for similar issue.

This vehicle has a lot of electrical issues. The push start doesn't always work and stalls out. The car has also lost power while I was driving luckily it kick back on before something serious happened. It also tends to shift gears very hard at times.

Motor shuts off traveling down the road (happened 3 times since 2016). Twice on a curve 30 - 40 mph & once down a straight away 60mph (scary). Got on your web sight NHTSA recall # 19v-813. - manufacturer recall # v62. We have stopped driving the vehichle. Called Dodge gave me case # 74962415. Talked to a mr. David at Dodge said he could not loan me a vehichle. Ask him to let me speak to his superior. . . He said no. Talked to bobilya Dodge (local dealer). My 2012 Dodge Durango was part of the NHTSA campaign number 15v115000. The vehicle was brought in for the replacement part in September of 2015. The repair temporarily fixed the issue. Over the last 4 months the vehicle has had many issues with starting and/or staying on and has been towed to a repair shop when it would no longer start. There was a loose wire found for the external replacement part installed as the recall. The vehicle then ran normally for a week before it started to show issues with starting and staying engaged. The problem quickly escalated with the vehicle stalling out almost daily upon being started and sometimes the issue could only be resolved by the external fuel kit relay module being tapped. Today, 11/02/16 the vehicle stalled while driving down the road, luckily it was in a school zone with little traffic so any possibly accidents were avoided. An hour later the vehicle started acting as if losing fuel pressure while turning and the gas pedal had to be pushed to the floor to stabilize the vehicle. The local Dodge/chrystler dealership has been contacted several times while this issue has persisted and we were advised that they had fulfilled their duties under the recall and we could bring the car in when there was an opening but they were not sure what they could do unless the issue happened while the vehicle was there.

Engine stalled and car shut off. Once from a stop while trying to accelerate and another time while trying to stop. In both instances an accident was nearly avoided. My wife on 9/13 was turning across traffic and the car died and she was almost t-boned. On 9/14 I almost rear ended a car as I was slowing to a stop and lost all power. Wipers will come on randomly on dry, sunny days (while parked or in motion). Car jerks forward intermittently when starting (using remote start or while in the car). Occasionally the car continues to turn over but never actually starts. I have taken this to the dealer 7-8 times and they've never heard of these problems. No error codes recorded. Never able to be reproduced when at the dealer. Contacted another Dodge dealer and they have never heard of these issues either. Took to an independent mechanic and he immediately recognized this as a potential tipm issue. The fuel relay recall was implemented in summer of 2015 which was supposed to resolve these issue. However, all of these problems continue to intermittently occur - with the stalling (and near accidents) just occurring for the first time this past week. Spoke with Dodge yesterday explaining the situation and both dealers didn't want to sell me a new tipm because they weren't sure it would fix the problem and reiterated that the fuel relay recall would fix these issues. When I stated that I am still having the issues they didn't have an answer but were willing to take my car in on trade. We currently have 93000 miles but this started shortly after we purchased the Durango; with well under 40000 miles. We were still under warranty when this started but no fault was ever found when at the dealer.

The engine regularly will not start when I push the button. It stalls over and over. Sometimes leaving us stranded. This has been happening since at least 2016 and I have had all recalls repaired. The matter has never resolved! now I have been informed that the initial recall replacement part was faulty and Dodge currently does not have a fix.
